  1. Gotta a question. I tried to find a thread on it and didnt find one... I see all the different sizes of bands. What is taken in consideration for the size of the band that is used? I didnt discuss it with my Dr....I know the brand and was happy with that. I never thought much on it until I have seen others mention how big their band is and I realized mine is small in comparison. Just curious why the different sizes and what is taken into consideration for your size band....
  2. All of a sudden I've lost 2 friends I added in past few days (one being in the past 24 hrs), and all the forums seem to have gone back a few days. This all happening after another had posted that all of Fridays posts were MIA....is this normal for this website?
  3. Haha I talk to my stomache when it growls. One time I was drinking my broth and it growled really loud. I looked down at my stomach and said aloud "No, you can not complain! You get you what get and you dont throw a fit" haha It's what I tell my kids when they whine.
  4. Glad you got seen and are feeling better!
  5. I pray I can do Tuna fish and chicken (not together of course haha). Meat Loaf sounds amazing right now. Heck anything with a crunch sounds good, btw im on day 4 pre-op so hence why i am all gitty about talking about "real" food.
  6. So true haha. I had to drive today and realized that wasnt necessarily as easy as one would think gettin in and out of the car. I am due for a pain pill now and i only have two left...after last nights sleep im scared to sleep. Hoping after tomorrow the pain will ease back up like it was yesterday so Tyenol will be enough and I can go back to work on Friday =/ Wish me luck haha
  7. I didnt pre-op diet but I have been on liquids since my surgery on the 29th and had my 1st stool today, it wasnt easy. I was told the pain killers can constipate ya and the liquids can cause diareha...so I think my body is havin hard time makin up its mind. Hope things get better for ya and everyone else have issues. And I hope mine gets normal soon haha
  8. Im glad you decided to do this for yourself. I'm glad he apologized while Im sadden to hear he may not have meant it. Only 4 days after surgery I fully understand and agree with others that you will need positive support around you. You will have your own hiccups, hang ups, habits, burdens to carry and the last thing you will need is someone(s) bring you down. Some people are scared of anything uncertain and involves change. Sounds like you boyfriend is one of them. Instead of guys saying they are scared they rather twist it to where it's not them with the problem (of being scared or uncertain) but it's someone else (or you). And Dr Valentine on the 14th sounds like an awesome caweenky-dink
  9. Thanks everyone that makes me feel normal! I think I will take it easy today and just stick to my walking and resting on the couch...the mess will have to wait for me =/ Unfortunately I do have to drive today to pick up the kiddos, and i need to go to the store for bandages...im just hoping this isnt too much for me to do as well now =(
  10. Im on day 4 post op and I woke up in a lot of pain this morning. The pain is where the port is not my incisions. I am thinking its from doing too much yesterday but I honestly didnt think one load of laundry and doing two loads of dishes was too much. I did laugh a lot yesterday which caused discomfort at the time. Has anyone else had this much burn sensasion this many days after surgery after so little? I feel like I went a mile backwards and now im all emotional =(

Sounds like you are doin great! Awesome! I went threw the doubt as well but it was more like me questioning myself if I was at this point. If I was over reacting and exagerating (sp?) my situation. I have been fighting the mind lately on what stage of the pre-op diet I am on. Trying to justify being closer to full liquids then I am. Thankfully I caught myself and was able to talk to my facilitator and she got my head on straight. I LOVE your quote you said "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" that is so true. I'm goin to put that on my locker at work to remind me not to over do it there too!

  13. Yea I was hoping day of Surgery was day 1 but my facilitator said day after was day 1 and also added a day to what I thought the clear liquid diet was over. Eh, I will survive, its for my best interest. Just dreaming of Thursday when I can have coffee and chocolate pudding. To chew something would be amazing but I'd just like to switch it up at this point haha
  14. Yay you! Congrats, thats amazing! 130lbs is awesome and in a year, wow! I love reading posts like this =)
  15. I had surgery Saturday 29th at 130p and my mind is playing games on me. Today is Tues the 1st and I can logically say Sat was day 1 Sun day 2 Mon day 3 and today is day 4. But my friend made me realize if I go from Sat to Sun thats day 1 Sun to Mon day 2 Mon to Tues Day 3...I want more then Jello but dont know if I'm justifying it or if I am really on Day 4. Im calling my facilitator to ask but I feel dumb for even asking haha. Just wondering what you guess think...
  16. I have heard some take Gas X to help with gas pains. Also heating pads have been said to help a little. Walking has been the number one suggestion even if it hurts and doesnt feel good. Im also on day 3 but luckily havent had anything too unbearable. I have been attempting to walk at least for 5-10 mins every hour and have taken some gas x afterwards if i was still feeling some pain. Good Luck. I think the regret thing is something almost everyone feels for a short time afterwards when experiencing that pain. Maybe you doctor's office has someone to help with even more suggestions or be able to advise you to try something else.
  17. Haha me and my husband were laughing about my stomach "talking" last night. He just kept asking me "and you're not hungry?" And I wasnt. But the "Full" feeling is diffently different after being banded. Its hard to explain but its almost like I physically am full not my stomach is full, if that makes since. Could be the gas too since I'm only Day 3 out. I was operated on so late on Saturday that by the time I was out of recovery I just chalk that as my surgery day and Sunday was Day 1 for me.
  18. I have been telling people when they ask "how ya feeling" something to this effect "Well yesterday I felt like I was kicked in my stomach 100 times with steel boots and today I feel like I was punched instead...so I'm doin better" haha I get what you are saying about food. I was not on a pre-diet before hand but I woke up today thinking automatically about what I'm goin to eat for Breakfast and going to go get coffee. Then I moved to get out of bed and then was like "Crap, strike that...Jello it is" haha. It does take some mental barrior to remember no solids... I wish you the best of luck in your recovery...its time for me to have a fruit chiller to play mind games to make me think I've had something solid to eat =)
  19. Your in my thoughts today. I'll be fine. Praying for a speedy recovery for ya!
  20. I feel like one of the last ones to be banded this month lol. Im glad I read your stories and thank you so much for sharing. I do believe reading them is a blessing but a curse for me. Im scared beyond belief but at least Im fully aware of the worst case normal scenerios, more of an idea what is ok and what is not normal. I spend tomorrow packing, getting last minute items, etc. and then leave at 3am and from there...my journey begins. As my facilitator said to me today "Tomorrow you are one day closer to a whole new you"!
  21. I want this to be me on Saturday =) Glad to hear you are doing so well!!
  22. Feel the vent on this one for sure. Im obessed. Everyone I know (while I know they love me) keep telling me that they cant believe I think I need WLS and Im so young, that I'm not "that" overweight, why dont I try it the "healthy way" first (excersise & eat right), they are questioning my sanity because I choose Mexico, etc. Hello, I'm 85 lbs overweight and Im 5'1"...that is obesse. I have tried to diet and excersise. I have had 3 kids 3 yrs in a row, my body is worn out. Mexico works for me because America insurance companies say they want to wait to approve you until you are morbidly obese or wait until you have even more health issues. I also chose Mexico because this Dr I chose has 4 times if not more experience then majority of the American doctor's and his hospital has a lower infection rate then majority of American hospitals. Sad but true. Ok thanks for the vent. =)
  23. I am scheduled to meet Dr Kuri day after tomorrow, Friday for my tests and Saturday for my surgery. Everyone around me has my nerves all over the place but in my heart everything will be okay. The complication I have hit (and only one so far) is that my best friend that was going to go with me is now extremly ill and cant be around me so I have made it possible (found babysitters and such) to have my hubby to go with me however he doesnt have a passport so he will drop me off at the border (where Dr Kuri's staff will pick me up and take me to the hospital and then to the hotel. They have advised in the morning they will pick me up and bring me to the hospital for surgery.) and then he will stay in a near by hotel until Saturday or Sunday when I am ready to be picked up at the border (which Kuri's staff will bring me back). So my nerves are because I have never had a surgery before and I wont know anyone there but I have heard such amazing things about his staff and how friendly they are plus other scheduled bandsters will be there for me to befriend =) I choose Dr Kuri because a co-worker of mine went to him and had such positive adventure and the follow up by his facilitators is great. For less then what I would pay for co-payment with my insurance, after jumping threw 6 months worth of hoops to be denied because I dont have any health complications YET due to my weight (but am border line on everything) my costs would cover the hotel night before, the surgery and all expenses associated with it, free fills for life, 2 nights extra stay to be closer to dr while recovering if I choose, and the Dr has performed now over 4,000 band surgeries and is very well known for his work. Im not worried about Mexico itself because I'm not planning on leaving the staff side unless Im at the hotel sleeping. I'm not going to go explore the country side while waiting for my surgery. I see it the same way as if I went to a large city like New York by myself...be safe as possible. So summed up....I did homework on Dr and got references, feel safe with that decision...and Im well educated on safe travel, feel safe there.....now to not fear the recovery so much and I will be set =) Good luck on whatever/whoever you decide just remember not to let what others believe effect your judgement. Do your homework, and choose what you feel comfortable doing. In the end if your nerves are goin to scare you enough that you need to be able to feel comfortable with your decision. =)
  24. Hello vucarre, I am self pay however I will be getting my band in Mexico on the 30th. My BMI is 38 and my insurance wont cover it without me jumping threw 6 months to a year of hoops and in the end my co-pay would be $1,000 cheaper with insurance. To cut 6 months to a year out and all the headache, yeah I'll pay the $1,000 more. So I'm obessed but just not obessed enough. I have undiagnosed acid reflex problems (I just eat a lot of tums, gum, and drink a lot of milk) and Im sure I have high blood pressure but I havent found a dr that will stay in the small town I was from long enough to do a good physical with me and stay long enough to tell me what is goin on with me. I know I need to loss this weight...last I knew (3 yrs ago) I was borderline annemic, borderline high blood pressure, borderline diabetic....that was 35-40 lbs ago...yet the US doctor's and insurance companies want to wait to help until I'm beyond borderline and make sure I test positive for Diabetes, Annemia, High Blood Pressure, and who knows what else?
