  1. I have always anytime i get on an diet/exercise kick taken pics... it grosses me out at first to look at the first set... BUT when you take the next a month later and can put them side by side and see the difference it gives you the motivation to keep going! I took a set front back and both sides 2 1/2 weeks pre op and then took another set a month later which was exactly two weeks post op... i have lost 16lbs altogether at this point... I am stoked about the 16lbs and when I looked at the pictures side by side... I could see it melting off! But the key is to take your pictures with the same clothes on.... i managed to squeeze into my swim suit from 5 or 6 years ago when I was about 50 to 60lbs lighter.... but with having the same thing on i can see the small changes that are occuring that I wont be able to see if i had something else on... I truely believe that pictures can help to push and motivate a person to get to that desired goal! I say you should go for it... it will make you feel better in the end!!! Good luck to you on your journey!!
  2. I had an issue where it felt like when I tried to breathe especially laying down it felt like someone was standing on my air way... it lasted a few days and it went away...its gas i think... it hurts but it will go away... Good luck!
  3. Thanks! I am doing pretty good! I was really sore the first 2 days mostly on the left side where my port is. I am now able to get up without near as much pain just enough to remember that I had surgery on Tuesday! lol I am pretty impressed with how quick I have began to feel better, at the hospital I was scared it was going to be a long road to recovery! But once I got home and rested somemore things started to fall into place and I started to feel better! I have been very lucky and have not experienced any naseua(sp), just a little pain when I try to get the gas out via belching after i belch it hurts alittle but if i let out the air slowly its not so bad. I am only taking my pain meds at night to sleep or if walking isnt helpiing the pain on the left side which was once since Tuesday... Everyday seems to get better with the exception of yesterday, I think it has to do with the night before I tried to go to class and that was a little to much for me so my friend brought me back home, so yesterday I got a little woosy, I think I just over did it a little to much the day before. Overall I am stoked that I have done this and with the success I have seen so far! I have lost a total of 10lbs and 6 of that since Tuesday! I can't wait to see where I ended up!! Thank you for checking up and asking about me I appreciate it! I just makes anyone feel good to know that someone is thinking of them. Good luck to everyeone and remember We CAN and we WILL do it!!!
  4. Wow! I am so suprised to hear so many PCP's are uninformed! My PCP is great! and was a huge part of my process! I have seen my PCP since I was a child and my entire family. So he knows all the struggles I have had with weight. He has put me on a few diets and suggested HCG and south beach and things like that but when all the weight came back each time he could tell I was frustrated. I mentioned before I did the hcg that i was interested in the lap band he said he would support it but thought I should try hcg first. so I did and well obivously that didnt work! So a year later I went back and told him i was ready to do the lapband... so he and his entire staff did everything thing they possibly could to get me approved. My dad was even worried that I was too young to do something this drastic but talked to our PCP at his visit about it and the PCP informed him that it is a good decision for me at my age because I can bounce back better since I am younger! so therefore I guess I have an amazing PCP! I wish everyone could have my PCP he truely is the most caring sweet and loving PCP I have ever met and I have met too many for my age!
  5. I havent had any issues like that but that sounds horrible! I hope everything gets better for you! Ill be think of you and good luck!
  6. If you are having a problem with the milk in your protien shakes drink them with Water... I cant drink milk so I mix mine with water and its just fine... I had a fruit punch by nectar Sweets and added a crystal light packet with it and it was good and killed the horid Protein smell my favorite is the chocolate truffle by Nectar Sweets... as long as you get a good tightly packed scoop in a 16 oz glass it tastes GREAT! I hope that helps!
  7. I am getting banded on Tuesday 3/22! I am so excited! I am so excited that I dont think I will get nervous, but this is the way I look at it... I have choose to take this step for the reason that I need to be healthy and I would like to have children one day, so I have to much good to look forward to to even think about being nervous! As far as the anestesia(sp) they do this day in and day out, so there is nothing to be afraid of... I look at it like its my saving grace, because without it I would either feel more than I would ever desire or obviously not get to do this in the first place!! I guess I just always look at the bright side of things.... if you dewell on the negative it scares the hell out of you and brings you down! so just think of all the good reasons that you are going through this and it will make you smile and forget all about the scary things!! Good Luck to you!!!
  8. That is exactly what I thought too and is what I told them, they didnt mean it in a mean way I think they were just concerned about me... But I agree I would much rather do this now and know that I will have a healthy life and a better recovery than if I was to wait another couple of years or so. Thanks!
  9. Hello Everyone!! I am getting banded on Tuesday and I couldnt be more excited! After talking to my dad and a few other close family friends the question or though kept coming up "Aren't you to young for this type of procedure?" I am 26 and have been overweight my entire life, but have been "morbidly obese" as they call it for the last 2 years. I am just wondering if anyone else as been asked that? Its kind of a weird thought that people would ask/say that. Just wondering if anyone else has been asked that or any other weird questions... Thanks!!
