  1. Thanks for the good wishes. Have your surgeries all been Bariatric in nature?
  2. My gastric sleeve op was not a success. A year post op, I weigh more than I did pre op. I am considering having the bypass but wondering whether the same thing will happen. Also I know it is a more serious op. Has anyone else faced this situation? Any advice?
  3. Thanks. I have an appointment with him on Monday.
  4. Hi, i had my Gastric Sleeve op a month ago. Initially, I lost 15 pounds but, over the past three weeks, the weight has been creeping back on and I really don't know what I'm doing wrong. Has anyone else experienced this? Thanks. BJ
  5. I was banded in January 2011 and am now back to my pre-banding weight. Needless to say, I am discouraged. I don't have any allergy problems or anything like that - I just can't seem to lose the weight. I am going to have my fill level checked this week and maybe that has something to do with it. I do have some vomiting from time to time - so I don't think that I have too much fill. I really sympathize with all of you who are discouraged. I have taken up walking and given up alcohol and red meat but am at a loss as to what else to do to speed up the process.
  6. Hi Jackie, Good luck with your goal. I'll bet you can do it. I too have a goal although it's a bit farther out than yours. My son is getting married in September and I REALLY want to be down to my goal weight (135) by then. I am excited by the weight I have lost so far (22 pounds) and I haven't even had my first fill. I really took the pre-op diet seriously and lost quite a bit before the surgery. Now I am nervous about my first fill but excited too to see what it feels like and if it makes this whole 'eating' thing easier. Best of luck and have a good day. Barbara
  7. Hi Lyla, Thanks so much for the information. It doesn't' sound too terrifying at all the way you describe it. I'm glad they use some numbing stuff before sticking the needle in. I'll definitely let you know how it goes. Thanks again. Barbara
  8. Hi All, I was banded on the 19th and am trying to prepare myself for my first fill. Can anyone tell me what to expect? Like, does it hurt? Do you feel much less hungry after the fill? Any information will be gladly accepted. Thanks. Barbara
  9. Hi Everyone, Congratulations to all who met their goals and those who didn't! We've gotta keep on trying. I met my January goal and am now down to 193.6. Haven't got to the gymn yet and that is my next goal. Wish me luck! Barbara

    Wine

Hi, I am really surprised that so many people think it is a strange question and really would be put off if I were you by some of the responses. I don't think they were very helpful. Wine at dinner has always been an important part of our routine and I was wondering when I would be able to have some too. The literature I read (and my doctor concurred) said that a group who had wine with dinner did better at their weight loss than those who didn't! My doctor also said it would be fine. I don't mean to drink a lot but just to have a glass occasionally. I can understand why you would want to know and encourage you to find your own comfort zone regarding wine. Good luck with your weight loss. Mine is going fine at one week post-op. I have lost 16 pounds since starting the pre-op diet so I'm pretty pleased.. Hope it continues. Barbara
  11. Hi Everyone! It's my first weigh-in on the challenge since I just had my surgery four days ago - on Wednesday. On Thursday, I don't think I would have said it was worth it, but things have been improving steadily since then AND I have lost 11 pounds since the pre-op diet began!! My goal for January was to reach 198 pounds and I'm now at 199. So I'm feeling very good about the whole thing. Can't get back to exercising yet but when I do I will take your good advice, Va_Vi, and change things up a bit each week. It's so easy to get into a rut and a routine. I'm not as hungry as I thought I would be. I'm still eating just fluids, clear and full, and I find that I am feeling full after a very small amount of food. Let's hope it stays this way. Good luck to everyone this week! Barbara
  12. Hi Joan, Thanks so much for the good wishes. I am nervous today but excited too. I'll let you know how everything goes tomorrow. Good luck to you. Have a great day. Barbara
