"Boob Guy" - What is the deal with men and big breasts?
I'm a 38DDD and hate the sagging, the swaying, and most especially, the dents in my shoulders. My boyfriend loves everything about them. He says the bigger the better. He also says that those things that bother me -- the sagging and swaying -- are attributes that he finds to be very feminine. I guess it's just one of the things that us women will never fully understand. Comparatively, I find bald men or men with a receded hairline to be very attractive. It's a very masculine quality as far as I'm concerned. But I'm willing to bet that most bald men hate their baldness.

Sex before marriage?
I had my tubes tied when I was 23, and it's the best thing I ever did. I also had trouble finding a doctor. It took about 8 consultations with different doctors, but I finally found one who would do it. I have a friend who is 44 and pregnant for the first time after years of IVF treatments and many, many thousands of dollars. The weekly report of the toll it's taking on her body is horrifying. I'm so glad I'll never experience that.

January Bandsters???
Sherilynn, that's great news. You'll feel even better in a couple of weeks.

Sex before marriage?
You got that right!

What Peeves you?
One more peeve for the day....IRREGARDLESS. Regardless of how many people use it, it's still not an acceptable word.

What Peeves you?
I guess for the same reason bough, though, and tough all have different sounds -- because English is one difficult language. Luckily, we can blame the French for clique.

Sex before marriage?
Laurend, you and I must be soul sisters. That's exactly how feel except I don't even like the ones that are just a couple months old. I cannot stand to be around children. They grate on my nerves like nothing else in this world does. People would say the same thing to me when I was younger, and now that I'm almost 40 I can honestly say that I have not changed my mind. I knew at the age of 6 that I didn't ever want to be a mother. I've actually had people tell me that I'm selfish because I don't want children. Excuse me?!?!?! What's selfish is having children because you think you must have 2.3 children to have the appearance of a successful life and yet you don't have the time, money, or energy to raise them well.

Anna Nicole Smith has died
I know 2 people who knew her. One is my ex-boyfriend who worked out at the same gym that she frequented back in the early 90s and the other is a friend of the Marshall family. According to both of them, Anna Nicole Smith was a nice person but not very bright at all. I watched her reality show a couple of times and have to agree with that assessment. I feel sorry for her because I don't think she knew any better than to behave the way she did. Had she been born in a different era, society probably would have shunned her. But with today's change in morals and the influence from Hollywood, she instead became a celebrity. I read one article in which a journalist compared her celebrity to that of Paris Hilton. Both are famous for being famous. He noted that the difference was that with Anna Nicole, he had the urge to scoop her up, protect her, and fix her. He said that Paris Hilton would not prompt that response in anyone. I think his point was that underneath you could see that Anna Nicole was a kind, sweet soul who was a victim of both her environment and her own bad choices. And I think we all should have sympathy for that. Also, Anna Nicole worked to promote animal rights, and as a fellow animal lover, I have to give her at least an iota of respect for that accomplishment.

Ladies Only Please!!!
Also known as a "vart" for vaginal fart. A very normal occurrence and nothing to be embarrassed about.

Leaving the forum
I hope you'll reconsider leaving. I've also been the object of attack a couple of times -- someone attacked me for eating food (Nutrisystem fettucine alfredo) she thought I shouldn't be eating and on another thread I was attacked for defending someone whom everyone else was attacking. And apparently, I made one woman cry for stating that I think sex is fun and pre-marital sex is acceptable. Go figure. You should take a look at kbattal's posts. Oh my god. That poor man gets attacked no matter what he says. For every combative person in this forum, there are 50 other supportive and helpful people. Don't let the few bad apples ruin it for you. There are also a couple of nuts here, too, and I just do my best to ignore them.

2 hrs ago, I had an 'episode'.
That sounds like a regular bout of nausea following by dry heaves. As someone else mentioned, percocet can cause nausea. Especially if you take it on an empty stomach or mix it with other drugs. I had very extreme nausea for the first 48 hours after surgery and experienced the same thing you just described. However, I think your nausea is probably caused by the oxycodone in the percocet and mine was from the anesthesia. When you feel the nausea start up again, drink ice Water in small sips, keep an ice pack handy to put on the back of your neck, and work on controlling your breathing. Breathe in deeply through your nose and exhale through your mouth. See if your doctor can either give you a script for different pain killer or maybe a script to combat the nausea. I know how absolutely horrible you feel, but hang in there. You mentioned the liquid Tylenol. Is that working for you? It did nothing for me, but I found that the liquid Motrin did work, so I switched to that. The Motrin worked well enough that I was able to get off the darvocet (which contains codeine), and my stomach has been a lot more steady since I quit the codeine. I'm still burping like crazy, though.

Do you call your pet smtg other than its name?
I adopted a 10 yr old cat who lived in a shelter for almost 3 years with very little human contact. We've become very bonded, and I'm lucky to have her in my life. Even though her name is Snowie, I call her Precious most of the time. Yes, I sound just like Gollum. It's very embarrassing, but I can't seem to help myself. And with her sad history, she deserves to be someone's precious.

Dr. Spivak's patients .....
I was talking to the nurse all the way into the operating room and scooted from the bed to the table by myself. They did give me something in the holding area immediately before wheeling me out of there, but it didn't really kick in until after I was in the OR. Who was your anesthesiologist? Mine was Jim Jistel. If you had a different anesthesiologist, maybe he used different drugs. Or maybe you just had a stronger reaction to the initial sedative than I did.

Splenda is Evil
That's a good suggestion, but wouldn't you know, I hate mint more than I hate plain water. I think I'm the only adult in the world who dislikes mint. My dentist, who sees only adult patients, has to order bubblegum flavored tooth polish just for me. She says I'm the only patient who refuses the mint flavored stuff. When I had dogs, I used to put some liquid chlorophyll in their drinking water to help improve their breath. I think I'm going to buy some stainless steel cups like they use in Indian restaurants. I've noticed that water always tastes better in a metal cup. It's horrible in plastic containers and glass, and styrofoam makes it bearly tolerable. And I might try some of that new Special K Protein water. Other bandsters are saying it tastes pretty good.

Phentermine
15 mg is actually a pretty low dose of phentermine. I took it for years, at a much higher dose, and never had a physical or psychological addiction to it. The side effects can be bad -- joint pain, muscular pain, dilated pupils, sweating, dry mouth, weird taste in your mouth, inability to sleep, headaches, nervousness, moodiness, short term memory loss, increased heart rate and blood pressure. The longer you take phentermine, the higher your tolerance will be and you may not have any side effects at all. The thing I loved about phentermine was that I could go a whole day without even thinking about food. It completely shut down my appetite, both in my stomach and my head. But it certainly is not a long term solution to weight management. I would only use it again for a week or two if I was going through a particularly hard time controlling myself.

Anna Nicole Smith has died
It's not the pills that are dangerous, it's the people who abuse them. I took phentermine on and off for many years, and it was the only way I could curb my appetite long enough to stick with a diet. I used them responsibly and they worked well for me. But I knew that they were not a good long term approach to weight management. If Anna Nicole died from ODing on diet pills, I'd bet money that she took too many and probably mixed them with other drugs and/or alcohol. I feel very bad for her and her baby. Her life was out of control for a long, long time.

I feel like a big baby.
Sherilynn, I decided to try wearing regular pants today. Big mistake. I'm so uncomfortable when I sit. The waistband is making me miserable. I can't wait to get home and get back in my sweats. My stomach must still be swollen, too, because these are my fat pants and they are fitting tighter in the waist than they should. I've lost at least 12 pounds, so I know it must the swelling from the surgery. Ugh. And I need to go to the grocery store tonight and run some errands, but I just don't have the energy. I'm going home and crawling back into bed as soon as I can.

Urgent Help Needed For Friend
I had a fever of 100 for 3 days after surgery. My doctor's instructions specifically said to call his immediately if the fever is 101 or higher. Your friend needs medical attention asap.

I feel like a big baby.
Sherilynn, you're not the only one. I'm 3 weeks post-op and am still wearing sweat pants to work because I feel so crappy! My incisions are healing slowly; in fact, the steri-strips haven't even fallen off, yet. My belly is still bloated some, and putting on my left sock is still a major struggle. Gas pains in my shoulder seem to come back for at least 15 minutes every day. I'm so tired that I have to take a 2 hour nap every day. And my hunger is extreme. Other than feeling horrible, it's like the band isn't even there. I can't wait to feel normal again.

Splenda is Evil
I'm convinced that drinking diet Snapple and Crystal Light, which contain aspartame, is hindering my weight loss. Since being banded, I'm drinking 2-3 Snapples a day, instead of the 2-3 regular Cokes I used to drink. Considering how well I'm doing with my food, I really should be losing weight faster. The only problem is that I absolutely hate drinking Water or any unsweetened beverages, so I can't come up with a good alternative.

Dr. Spivak's patients .....
I've been getting a lot of take out food from Central Market. They often have grilled fish, mashed potatoes, and polenta. I buy a pound or so of the fish and then heat up smaller portions in my toaster oven. Same with the potatoes and polenta. I just love Central Market. All of their take-away food is really tasty.

Black Vomit During Sleep
Yes, if the vomit kind of looks like coffee grounds, then you probably have some intestinal bleeding and need medical attention. Please take care of yourself.

What Peeves you?
Yes, it seems that prejudice toward fat people is the only socially acceptable prejudice left in our society. And unfortunately, I don't think it's ever going to go away. I'm so sorry he ruined your evening.

What Peeves you?
Another peeve is people who rip out pages in magazines in the doctor's office. Get a piece of paper and write down that recipe that you want! Don't ruin the magazine for the rest of us.

What Peeves you?
I've had the same experience at an emergency vet clinic. My dearly loved cat had an embolism, so I rushed her to the clinic in the middle of the night. I was beyond hysterical, blubbering to the point that no one could understand me. I don't cry easily, but I knew how serious her condition was. Thank god my boyfriend was with me to do the talking for me. The vet kept telling me that the prognosis was not good and repeating that it would cost a lot of money to stabilize her. With the way I was crying, couldn't he tell how much I loved her? Money didn't matter, and I had to tell him that at least 5 times before he got the point. Sadly, the treatment didn't work and she passed away, but at least I did what I could to help her. My cats are like children to me. I spent 9 nine years giving one of my cats chemotherapy for lymphoma, and I currently have a 16 yr old cat with kidney disease. The cost of keeping him alive and comfortable is about $600 per month. It may be a strain on me, but I couldn't live with myself if I did any less. I just can't understand people who treat their animals like objects instead of the sweet, loving, sensitive creatures that they really are.
