Considering Swlc But Not Eligible For Vancouver
Running_scared...I was a 33 BMI and this surgery has been amazing for me. I had surgery Dec 2010 and reached goal Jan 2011. I would do it all over again. Ina heartbeat. At bmi of 33 I was classed as obese...i'm glad I didn't wait until I was morbidly obese...

Menstrual Question And Tightening Of The Band... Ladies? :-)
I use my TOM to my advantage and stick to protein drinks for 2-3 days. I also never get a fill within a week of when TOM is due...I always opt to get it afterwards.

Diet Slip Up
Most of us slip up...it's what you do afterwards that counts. You can continue with the 'bad' behavior, or you can start new ones...it's completely in your hands. I say take it as a lesson learned and move on

Body Dysmorphia
I'd like to see a third option to vote on because I'd like to be able to say "it depends" some days I see myself as I am, some days I don't...it just depends how I feel about myself and my journey at that particular moment...

Scared!!!! Sitting In Drs Office Waiting For First Fill....
It's a wee pinch. Don't have them numb it with a needle...that's silly...why get a needle so that you don't feel the other needle. A little pinch from Bert and Ernie..that's what I tell my kids when they get their shots...this is not even as bad as someting like that

1 Year Post-Op And Haven't Lost Anything Since Surgery, Back At Weight Watchers
I'm not sure that people with plication don't need fills. Mine is with plication and I still need fills..I think it's a very individual thing

Why Is The Band Often Tighter In The Morning?
It's because of how the body rests and fluids redistribute throughout the body as you sleep. In the morning my band is a bit tighter as are my wedding rings...but by the end of the day, as Water (it's heavy you know) moves down to your lower extremities, my rings and band are looser...my shoes might be tigher..I think that's where the water goes lol

Fluid Removed And Weight Gain
I'm with Xavier...so sorry this happened to you. I suggest you be very conservative with your fills. Take your tim eto get it just right. You don't want to be overfilled....you'll hurt yourself, your band and you'll likely gain weight. At any time if you can even drink water...get yourself checked out. Dehydration is awful for us bandsters and can happen quite easily.

Fell Off The Bandwagon, Scared To See Surgeon Next Week!! Please Help!
Whatever you do, just make sure you go. Don't feel like you're letting anyone down because you've had difficulties. The doctors, nurses and NUTs have seen it all. You're on a journey, trying to change habits and behaviours that have been engrained over years. Those are some of the hardest changes to make. You're human, you'll mess up...most of us do at one point or another. Just pull yourself up, go to the doctor, get a fill and take back control and move forward. You CAN do this.

Is Anyone Else's Bank Fickle?
My band is fickle...if it's really cold or I'm stressed or it's that TOM, it gets tight. I have 2 little kids so sometimes I sit down to dinner all relaxed and end up not being able to eat a thing due to getting stressed and the band tightenening. I usually just sip warm tea and try to relax and then eat later when the munchkins are not around.

How Much Protein?
My surgeons instructions were to have a minimum of 65-85gm of protein per day. I was also advised not to drink my calories as it won't satisfy me for very long.

How Much Can You Eat At 4Cc Fill?
I'm with Jean here...no one has failed...at 7 weeks out, you're just getting out of the healing phase and into the filling the band phase. Get your fills, work your band...just because you say you can eat so much food, or that you feel no restriction, that's not "bashing the band". That's bandster hell...the time between healing and getting a fill that gives you some restriction. Right now, until you start getting to the green zone, it is a diet...it's willpower and making good choices. My last year of being banded has been fraught with poor choices...it's a journey...not a sprint. Be kind to yourselves.

Nightly Heart Burn?
I think your Dr should be checking to see if the band is too tight. If it is, and is left that way for too long, it could cause a slip.
