  1. You go for it, girl! And your husband too! It's amazing the places you can see when riding trails instead of concrete! I also reached a weight where I stopped riding - out of consideration for my horse! It is such glorious freedom to explore trails, sharing the experiences with my horse and other riders! Now I want to meet up with you and start you riding!!!!!!!!! GingerO
  2. I owned a horse and even rode with the Volunteer Mounted Patrol for both State and National Parks - but I did get to the point where I was too heavy to ride! Now it is just such glorious freedom to be able to ride and explore trails. I am thinking of changing my goal - from 135 to 125. Have any of the rest of you changed goals since starting? LisaA, think of taking riding lessons - "horsin' around" is more than idle fun!!!!!!!!! Ginger O
  3. I've been considering the Wii workouts. How long does each session take? Is it more or less aerobic? Gingero o.
  4. Would like more info about "compression" garments. What, exactly are they and where can they be purchased? I am within 15 lbs of goal and have a pot belly that I would like to either get rid of, or at least disguise!
  5. I'm 68 & had my lb surgery in May, 2009, so it's been more than a year. I was slogging along, losing weight slowly (not exercising either), just following the rules knowing that eventually they would work. Then I took a look at my clothes!!!!! Jeans could be taken off without unzipping! I always bought clothes from "oversize" catalogs - just for giggles, I tried going into a regular store. WOW ! That was Inspiration! I'd gone from a size 22 to a 12! Now that I am dressing to my size, lots of people are noticing that I've lost weight! It is fun to be able to go into stores like other people and get things that I like and that look GOOD on me. Still have 15 lbs to go, but I LOVE where I am and where I am still going!
  6. Hi, All! I am new to blogging in general, so bear with me. This thread has been stimulating - mentally - now if I can get "stimulated" physically! I was banded in May, 2009, and am within 15 lbs of my goal. I know walking, gyms, etc., are the normal, effective exercises. My exercise involves working with horses. No, if you are riding a horse you are NOT just a passenger - it takes lots of muscles working independently of each other to ride - especially up hills & down arroyos! Does anyone else ride? Any opinions on "horsing around" as exercise? BTW, I live in Simi Valley, CA, and just celebrated my 68th birthday - It's never too late!!!!!!!
