  1. Thanks TexasMama! I usually don't eat anything after about 6 or 7 pm... Maybe I am not drinking enough water? I don't understand because it seems like the more water I drink the heavier I am the next day. I don't know what is up. I am eating 3 meals and 1 snack (usually a yogurt.) a day. I know the weight will catch up eventually, but I wish it would hurry up!!
  2. Just checking in! I'm feeling a little discouraged lately... I haven't lost anything since my fill two weeks ago. IT SUCKS! I've been working out 5-6 times a week for 30 mins or more a day. I'm only eating about 1200 calories, so I don't understand what is going on. I'm trying to just power thru and I'm hoping after my TOM some LBs will just fall off! It's hard not to get frustrated though! Good luck every one!
  3. NewChic, You are doing great for only 8 days Post op! It is pretty normal to start feeling hungry when your swelling goes down some! Just wait it out and try to follow your DR's instructions and before you know it you'll be having your first fill! I personally did not feel a big difference with restriction after my first fill. I don't have much restriction, but I stay full forever! So even though it sounds crazy, I only ate 1 meal and 1 snack all day today. I need to get to a point where I don't eat a lot in one sitting, I just eat 3 tiny portions. I am still getting used to my band and trying to figure out what works for me!
  4. Wow! That's great, TexasMama! Keep up the good work. The band is definitely a tool... It takes quite a bit of hard work and I don't think I could've lost any of it without my band!
  5. I'm just wondering how everyone is doing? I'm 2mos and 2weeks post op and I've lost 32lbs. I've had 1 fill and so far, so good! Everyone check in and tell me how you're doing!
  6. Can you call or Email your Dr? That is what I would do. I was instructed to do liquids only when I flew last month. Could you find a pharmacy there and get something like Slim fast or Boost? Surely they must have a similar product? Good luck!
  7. I just saw this thread and I wanted you to know that I had my surgery on Feb 5th, and I lost 21lbs in the first 2 weeks post op. My 3rd week post op I havent lost anything. I know it will come off and I just need to be patient, but it's hard isn't it! Good luck and try not to get too discouraged!!
  8. I'm almost 3 weeks post op. I've been a bad girl for about a week now...I'm supposed to be on liquids only for 4 weeks. My Dr. is VERY conservative and very cautious. I have been having 1 mushy "meal' a day and have the rest of my "meals" as liquids. Mostly I'm doing slim-fast. But I have eaten chili, baked potato, and some shredded chicken. So far everything goes down really well.
  9. My Dr. is ultra conservative too. I'm on liquids for 4 weeks (My instructions were "Anything you can drink through a straw".) Then purees for 2 weeks and and "soft foods" for another 2 weeks. It's HARD not eating anything, I have cheated a tiny bit (2 oz of chicken salad, soupy mashed potatoes) but I am doing my best. I have lost 19lbs and dropped a jeans size! YAY for that!
  10. I just saw this! Thank you both! I am doing well. I've lost 13lbs in the 8 days post-op. Recovery has been so much better than what I thought it would be. Thanks again for the well-wishes!!

  12. Hi Nicky! I'm 28 and I'm being banded on Feb 5th! Good luck! Keep us all updated!
  13. Wooohooo! That is BRAVE! I am waiting until the day before my surgery before I do my before pic.
  14. Thanks for adding me! Kicking fat's ass sounds amazing!!
  15. Does anyone in here want to buddy up with me? I am 28 and have a 2 year old daughter. My surgery will be on Feb 5th. I am 5'8" and 301lbs and my goal is to be 160lbs. Seems like a looooooooong way off. But I am planning on working out or walking the neighborhood every single day. It is no excuses for me starting on Feb 5th! I WILL lose this weight!! Let me know if you want to be my buddy!
  16. Yikes! Just got a booklet from my Dr. outlining what will happen post-op. I have to do liquid diet for 4 weeks post op! I guess that is my payback for not having a preop liquid diet. So, it says clear liquids for 4 weeks, Purees/mushies for another 2 weeks and then after 6 weeks I can move on to normal foods. I'm getting nervous!
  17. I just wanted to stop in and say hi again today. I re-read the thread today and couldn't believe how easy everyone else's psych eval sounded! Mine was ridiculous! I had to take a 2 hour long evaluation on the computer and then go to 3 appointments to have a "session" with the therapist before she would "sign off" on me. To make matters worse the therapist was about 5'10 and maybe 140lbs!. I have had a terrible time trying to get insurance approval in general. Maybe because we have Tricare, but it has been a nightmare. I'm still afraid I'll get a call that my approval was a mistake! Hopefully they can't take approval away! I am so ready to do this!
  18. Hello Everyone! I was supposed to be banded in Nov. 2010, but my insurance somehow messed up my paperwork and it just got sorted out. I'm scheduled to be banded on Feb. 7th. My Dr. Also doesn't require a pre-op diet...I feel a little guilty since all you are on pre-op diets. Yikes.
  19. Wellllll.... When I told my PCM I was interested in getting a Lap Band she seemed like it was a great idea for me. She said I met all the criteria and I would be a good candidate. That was in July, (I have been trying to lose for probably 2 years now, losing some, then getting discouraged. But I have always had a weight problem...so, they have a record of me pretty much always being very overweight.) My husband was deployed in July, so I waited for him to get back before we scheduled my consultation. (I have to go about 2 hours away to a surgeon there...) I had my consultation on Sept 23, and my surgery is scheduled for the 13th of Nov. So, It really is only going to be about 6 weeks between things. I have heard that Tricare is really strict and hard to get approved with, but that has not been the case for me at all. I didn't have to have a sleep study. Let me know if you have any more questions.
  20. Hi Everyone. I just joined yesterday...I will be getting my surgery on Nov. 13th. I can't believe that is only a week from today. It seems like I have been waiting for this for a very very long time. My Dr. is not having me do a pre-op diet. It seems like most of you are doing one. I wonder why some do it and some don't. Anyway, Good luck to everyone and congrats to those of you who are getting banded in Nov!!!
  21. Hi Annie, You posted in my Hello thread, and I just saw this one that you posted. I'm not in Germany, but we are stationed in England, So I would imagine the process would be similar since we are both Tricare Europe. Did you have any specific Questions? It didn't take me long to get approved, but my PCM has really been an advocate for me on this! Feel free to PM me with questions too if you'd like. Good luck!
  22. Thanks so much for the responses, Ladies. Thanks for making me feel welcome!!
  23. I just wanted to say Hello!! I am a military wife and the mother of a beautiful, almost 2 year old daughter. My surgery is scheduled for Nov. 13th. I am scared, but ready. I want to be a good example for my daughter, and I want to be the best me I can be. Diets and exercise just haven't done it for me, but I look forward to a new start as soon as I get my band!
