  1. 2nd Fill

The 2nd fill didn't tickle. Not sure if that's good or bad. Felt one or two stabs but nothing bad at all. I do feel fuller now. i can still eat 16 oz of food which is not good but if I stick to the pouch rules I don't get hungry as quickly and I've lost 4 lbs.

The hardest part is not drinking while eating! That has been ground in you since you were little. Drink lots of water while you eat and before. Now its don't drink anything while you eat or 15 minutes before or 30 after. However I can feel the difference when I don't drink.

Lets hope the weight loss continues. My next fill is in February !
  2. Band Mishap!

I had my first band mishap today!

All of my kids but one are gone for the holidays to be with their dad, the one that isn't out of state went over to a friends house to spend the night and my husband is deployed. So I'm feeling depressed and lonely, and don't feel like cooking, or doing anything else really. Because I'm feeling sorry for myself I bought fast food, a spicy chicken sandwich.

I came home crawled into my bed turned on the TV and ate that sandwich like I wasn't banded!

    WOOOOOHoh BIG MISTAKE!

I felt it land in my pouch and IT HURT! So I took a drink of the other thing I am not supposed to have when banded: POP! It was an explosive mix...literally. Pre-band I was always able to make it to a container of some sort before throwing up the contents of my stomach. However this time no such luck. On sec I'm drinking a pop the next.....lets just say spicy on the way down nice spicy on the way UP Not so much!

Despite the cleanup, and the slight burning in my throat, I'm glad this happened. I lost 15 lbs pre-band to get the surgery, but I haven't lost any weight since being banded, I had lost some after the fill but gained it back when I figured out I could eat again. I am not getting the message. I needed a swift kick in the bum and I'll probably need more.

I think I'm going back to the protein shake diet. 4 shakes, protein bars, and one meal. I'll supplement with vitamins ect.

I'm not a huge fan of food. I don't eat because I really like food I eat because I'm either hungry or bored. I liked the shake diet. I felt full now I feel like I'm always hungry. I wonder why that is?

New Years Resolution: Protein Shake Diet! Does it still count as a New Years Resolution if I start today?
  3. Tickle Me Elmo!

I had my first fill today! I had gained back a little bit of weight but the Dr. Said that was normal. The crazy part was the actual fill. The Dr. numbed the area, hardly felt that at all then he started filling around the port to locate exactly where to put the needle. Once he found the area he inserted the needle. Now here is the strange part he was inserting the needle, pushing it around to get into the port and it TICKLED! I kept laughing which the Dr. thought was funny but said it wasn't helping him get the needle into the port. For some reason when the needle jiggled the port it tickled. Even when the Dr. pulled the needle out it tickled. How strange am I? Push my port and I giggle!!! Guess that is much better than it hurting!
  4. I'm really excited, I'm getting my first fill tomorrow!:hurray: I was doing so well when I was first banded. I finally could tell when I was full! Before the surgery I could eat and eat and eat and I could never tell how full I was until I would practically have to explode to fill full! I'm trying not to eat that much now that the swelling has gone down and the food just passes right through, but its difficult. I'm ready to get my fill on!
  5. I will have my first fill next week. Right now my hunger has overwhelmed me and I have gained back weight! I am trying to stick to the pouch rules but its extremely difficult! I am scared that I will not be able to lose weight once the band has been filled. My hypothyroidism had reversed because of meds before the surgery so I had to stop taking my meds to actually be able to have the surgery. Now its back and I'm exhausted and starving all the time. So back on the meds but it usually takes a few weeks for the meds to kick in and get my energy back.

Any suggestions on what to do to get a little energy and stop over eating until I get my first fill?
  6. Week 2

I am almost to my 2 week mark and I've lost 13lbs. I've read some of the forums and I feel comfortable with that loss. I was a little worried at first I wasn't losing enough. My Dr. is Awesome! I wouldn't have picked a different Dr. and I did the research for Dr.s where I live. He is however STRICT! Not mean, not abusive, really very nice, extremely knowledgeable, just expects you to follow the rules! Then again maybe all Dr.s in this area are. I did follower the rules but I felt like I was constantly drinking protein shakes, which my Dr allows the first 2 weeks and I would have gone CRAZY hungry without. I start to drink my slushy protein shake and be half way done when I remember I had a band. :cursing:CRAP! So I thought I was eating/drinking too much and hadn't lost enough.

My husband just left this morning for Iraq will be gone for a year :sad:and I came home opened my fridge and again realized I have a lap-band® and that I can't stuff my face with food to make me feel better. So I crawled into bed, cried, and now I'm writing because I have a year by myself and I really want to lose as much as I can by the time he comes home for R&R. Not that he cares he thought I was beautiful overweight but wanted me to be healthy. I just want him to be proud of my weight loss. Not my looks, I'm pretty cute chunky or not:tongue2:, just want to see the look on his face when I can stop telling him to pull into wider parking spaces so I can get out of the car without hitting the one next to us:blushing:!

    Let the Journey Begin!:smile2:
