    Fort Riley Bandsters???

Would love to meet some people on Fort Riley who would like to start a support group! Maybe start walking or going to Gym on post. I was banded Oct 26th, 2010 my husband is now deployed so I need all the help I can get!

    Sinus Drainage!

I am almost 3 weeks post op. I can tell when I've ate too much by the slight pain right above my collar bone. However when I wake up in the morning its not slight its MASSIVE! I know its sinus drainage, for reasons too gross to post. I obviously haven't had a fill yet so can this stretch my pouch? I already feel like I can eat a lot more than I could. Which could be because swelling has gone down. I just don't want to have a stretched pouch because my sinuses decided to go haywire! Anyone else have this problem?

    2nd Fill

The 2nd fill didn't tickle. Not sure if that's good or bad. Felt one or two stabs but nothing bad at all. I do feel fuller now. i can still eat 16 oz of food which is not good but if I stick to the pouch rules I don't get hungry as quickly and I've lost 4 lbs. The hardest part is not drinking while eating! That has been ground in you since you were little. Drink lots of water while you eat and before. Now its don't drink anything while you eat or 15 minutes before or 30 after. However I can feel the difference when I don't drink. Lets hope the weight loss continues. My next fill is in February !

    TRICARE PRIME PATIENTS

I have Hypothyroidism but no other issues and had a bmi of 49 and since Hypothyroidism doesn't count, I had to gain weight to make it to a 50 bmi before tricare would approve the surgery.

    Band Mishap!

I had my first band mishap today! All of my kids but one are gone for the holidays to be with their dad, the one that isn't out of state went over to a friends house to spend the night and my husband is deployed. So I'm feeling depressed and lonely, and don't feel like cooking, or doing anything else really. Because I'm feeling sorry for myself I bought fast food, a spicy chicken sandwich. I came home crawled into my bed turned on the TV and ate that sandwich like I wasn't banded! WOOOOOHoh BIG MISTAKE! I felt it land in my pouch and IT HURT! So I took a drink of the other thing I am not supposed to have when banded: POP! It was an explosive mix...literally. Pre-band I was always able to make it to a container of some sort before throwing up the contents of my stomach. However this time no such luck. On sec I'm drinking a pop the next.....lets just say spicy on the way down nice spicy on the way UP Not so much! Despite the cleanup, and the slight burning in my throat, I'm glad this happened. I lost 15 lbs pre-band to get the surgery, but I haven't lost any weight since being banded, I had lost some after the fill but gained it back when I figured out I could eat again. I am not getting the message. I needed a swift kick in the bum and I'll probably need more. I think I'm going back to the protein shake diet. 4 shakes, protein bars, and one meal. I'll supplement with vitamins ect. I'm not a huge fan of food. I don't eat because I really like food I eat because I'm either hungry or bored. I liked the shake diet. I felt full now I feel like I'm always hungry. I wonder why that is? New Years Resolution: Protein Shake Diet! Does it still count as a New Years Resolution if I start today?

    Band Mishap!

Thank you Marnetta! I think I will light some candles and take a nice long bath! Something you can never do when your kids are home!
  9. My Dr had me do a month but I was allowed to eat one solid meal a day. He also has people under 50 bmi to only do a 2 week all liquid diet. I however was right at 50 bmi. The reason is that the larger you are the larger your liver is and he wants the weight loss before the surgery to make sure the liver is smaller and is less apt to be in the way. It makes sense to me to take the precaution and eliminate any chance of accidents.
  10. I'm not a Dr but maybe its not on the inside of your stomach maybe its something on the outside. If they've looked at the inside and found nothing to indicate a problem you should see about the outside. Again I am not a dr. so I have no medical knowledge at all. Just suggesting a process of elimination.

    Tickle Me Elmo!

I had my first fill today! I had gained back a little bit of weight but the Dr. Said that was normal. The crazy part was the actual fill. The Dr. numbed the area, hardly felt that at all then he started filling around the port to locate exactly where to put the needle. Once he found the area he inserted the needle. Now here is the strange part he was inserting the needle, pushing it around to get into the port and it TICKLED! I kept laughing which the Dr. thought was funny but said it wasn't helping him get the needle into the port. For some reason when the needle jiggled the port it tickled. Even when the Dr. pulled the needle out it tickled. How strange am I? Push my port and I giggle!!! Guess that is much better than it hurting!

Ready to get my Fill on!

I'm really excited, I'm getting my first fill tomorrow!:hurray: I was doing so well when I was first banded. I finally could tell when I was full! Before the surgery I could eat and eat and eat and I could never tell how full I was until I would practically have to explode to fill full! I'm trying not to eat that much now that the swelling has gone down and the food just passes right through, but its difficult. I'm ready to get my fill on!

Ready to get my Fill on!

My surgery was October 26th, I go back in 6 weeks to have another fill. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.
  14. I totally binged before my first fill(which was today!)! I'm not condoning it but don't be so hard on yourself!! I had even gained back some weight. I thought the DR would go off on me but he said it was normal to gain a little back before your first fill. One day at a time!

    Instructions for a fill adjustment

That sux only being able to get a fill every 6 months! My Dr prefers to add a little at a time,(which is good)however if I had to wait 6 months between each fill, it would take years to get to where I actually feel like the band was working. I personally wouldn't do it myself because I feel the risks are too great. However I know in some other countries they have different ideas about medical procedures, so I'm not going to judge. However, I can't think of where a person would go to get all the tools you need. I certainly wouldn't trust ordering it on the internet. For instance, if you get a "Leak" and the saline you've used isn't sterile, who knows what you just put in your body! Dishonest distributors could gather the Water right out of their toilet and you would never know!

Found secret to getting Isopure down!!!

After a little while on the all liquid diet you just want to bite into something! That was my downfall when the Dr gave me the OK to eat solids. I just couldn't stop biting!

    Over a month Post Band

I will have my first fill next week. Right now my hunger has overwhelmed me and I have gained back weight! I am trying to stick to the pouch rules but its extremely difficult! I am scared that I will not be able to lose weight once the band has been filled. My hypothyroidism had reversed because of meds before the surgery so I had to stop taking my meds to actually be able to have the surgery. Now its back and I'm exhausted and starving all the time. So back on the meds but it usually takes a few weeks for the meds to kick in and get my energy back. Any suggestions on what to do to get a little energy and stop over eating until I get my first fill?

    Post LapBanders' Please Read

I was told that, that is an indicator that you are full or too full. It was worse right after I was banded now it only happens when I eat too much.

OH HOW THE MIGHTY HAVE FALLEN

Great attitude! Right now I have no restriction and I'm starving! I let myself think about all the food that I wouldn't be able to eat with restriction and I went on a free for all for a couple weeks. NOT GOOD! Now I'm trying to get back on track and hope I haven't gained too much weight before my first fill.
