2 Years Ago Today...
I was on the 2nd day of my pre op liquid diet. I had a headache from hell... I was starving or so I thought and and I was pretty ticked off I had to cook for 15 people when I couldn't even eat! I was feeling pretty sorry for myself but I busied myself in the kitchen and plowed through the day. I cannot tell you it was the best day of my life but I put a smile on my face and kept reminding myself the sacrifice would be worth it. Fast forward 2 years and I am in the kitchen cooking again anticipating the 10 people hungry people who will arrive in a few short hours. The food will be plentiful but I will be eating about as much as my 17 month old granddaughter...probably less. But this year I could care less. I am enjoying everything these days. I am thinner than I have been since I was 12. I am thankful for my health and the support of my friends and family who have lived through this journey for the past 24 months. I am thankful I can dress stylish, not sweat in my kitchen because I am so fat.... And stand at the kitchen sink for hours with out actually sitting to peel the potatoes. I am telling you this because many of you are just starting your journeys or are in the middle of them...and I just wanted to remind you that this is the best decision you ever made....and for that you should be thankful. Have a wonderful holiday

Barrel Racing After Lap Band
I would most likely give it 6 weeks to completely heal or when you feel your stamina is back 100%.

Asking An Embarrassing ???
Donna...I too am bottom heavy....and I was wearing the lane Bryant size 26 when I started. I bought some cheap Walmart panties in 9 and XL at target when I was about 250.... They should work for you. Happy shopping... I am not getting near Walmart but am heading out at 5 am like an idiot to score some holiday decorations, cards and whatever else I think I must own. Lol

Happy Thanksgiving To You All
There is absolutely no reason to over eat with the band. ... Please remember it isn't all about the food. It's about the gifts we have received this year....and the good things to come. Happy Thanksgiving

How Does It Feel To Be "stuck"?
Its rare... but if I get stuck its because I didnt chew well or more especially ate too fast. I usually feel it about 15 minutes after the last bite... It feels like a brick is on my chest and I want to throw up. I dont but I will usually bring up some of the food and spit it in my napkin. It usually takes 20-30 minutes for the feeling to pass. Its not pleasant but its managable because you know it will pass. But I do not advise it.

In Extreme Pain
Ahh thanks for the info. It sound little gas left over from surgery. Walking is about the best way to relieve it. But you could try Gas x or some other OTC relief. If its as bad as it sounds you may want to call the Dr for other suggestions. You should feel better soon.

In Extreme Pain
I agree with the others...we do not have enough info to offer suggestions. If you prefer not to give it... then I suggest calling the Dr or going to the ER. WIshing you well....

What To Expect?!?!
You can die from surgery. You wont die from the lap band. Basically that means anytime you go under ansthesia you run the risk of dying. However I believe the chances of it happening to a healthy person are pretty darn slim. If you havent already you may have a full cardio work up to make sure your heart can withstand surgery. Beleive me if the Dr doesnt think you are a good candidate he will not do it. That said... the lapband is a simple surgery. You dr more than likely could do it in his sleep. You should have nothing to worry about.

Drinking While Eating
Its a forever thing. It is one of the hardest habits to break.... I found I dont even have a glass of anything near me when I am eating... then the problem is resolved. If I am out to dinner I make sure to get rid of the water glass so I dont accidentially pick it up.

How Many Incisions Do You Have?
I had 4. But by the 3rd month only one was visable. By the 8th month... that one is not visable anymore either.

First Fill Today
To answer your question... Yes I can eat stuffing but after a fill I am liquids for 24 hrs then mushies ... So you may try to eat the leftovers on Friday if your dr follows that course as well. Just be careful... Bread products can be tricky...as can the celery and sausage in the stuffing if yours has it.... Just be sure it's very moist and take tiny bites. You may not realize the fill offers more restriction than you are used to. Enjoy

First Thanksgiving With My Band
Thanksgiving doesn't have to be about the food. It's about being with friends and family and all the things you are thankful for.... Just saying'

Japaneese Steakhouse
I didn't cheat so cannot tell you what I would do.... I am not trying to sound to be self righteous. It was just my choice. I would drink my shakes while others ate. You seem remorseful but to say you think you will be ok concerns me. Not that it's my business but since you put it out there....you may be ok but taking chances like this so early on isn't a good foundation so just be careful about pushing the limits if you want to keep your band healthy. Just my friendly advice. We are at different stages but if I am at a restaurant which is challenging to a bandsters lifestyle I usually pick soup if I am on liquids like after a fill... Or I stick to what I know...fish, veggie and a 1/2 of baked potato depending on size always work.

Tootin Not Good Time
Ok here is my take. My bowels are healthy now after years of being unhealthy and the normal course of events is for the gas to escape somehow... I too find myself being more gassy then ever before but on the other hand I have healthy looking stools because I am not drinking and eating hi fat sugary foods. SO I suppose its a tradeoff.

Worry About Failing
I am going to be pretty blunt.... If you want to be thin, healthy and have a long life you need to find the will power to make it happen. I had A LOT of weight to lose and the number was staggering in my head.... I had to take it 10 lbs at a time. I wanted it more than anything so I sacrificed eating and drinking whatever I wanted to get the end result. I am here to tell you it was worth every second. i noticed results immediatly and 23 months of sacrifice to get something I wanted my entire life is a drop in the bucket. Best wishes as you consider your options.
