I've been gone because in October I fell and broke my back. It took me til January to go to the doctor and my then he said I was in critical condition and they took me by ambulance to the best hospital in the state, 200 miles away.

I wasn't on my computer for months.

Can someone fill me in on what happened here?
I didn't sign in for a long time when I broke my back and eventually had surgery.
I came back and the whole site is different, and not necessarily better.
I heard a lot of the vets left and I don't know why. There were a lot of us who liked to keep in touch. Now I have no way to reach any of my online friends. I really miss Cowgirl Jane.
Can anyone explain what the heck happened to everyone? I Know it's difficult when a lot of the forums have all the wls surgeries mixed together. RNY, Band and sleeve don't have much in common other than we are thinner.

Yes, I need to start working out. I need to strengthen my core. So, I have to start doing exercises at home. I know how to exercise, I just preferred to do it at the gym. It doesn't make sense for me to join the gym again when there's so many of the machines I can't use.
My back surgery caused me to lose my appetite for a long time so I did lose my regain and that's a really good thing!

Way to go Ruthi! I remember how excited
I was when I fit into my first size 12s.

My biggest NSV ever was when I was talking with my trainer awhile back about
putting a profile up on a dating site. I asked him which box to check, average
or "a few exra lbs." I wanted a man's opinion. He said You're definitely average.

That same day, a man at the gym asked
me how I keep my legs so toned. I was
literally shocked. I just pointed to the machines I use.

No, Isn't GERD heartburn? This only happens to me if I think
my portion is correct, when in fact it's too much. The new tiny stomach is too full..

Have you ever had your mouth start watering right before you throw up? It's like that.

my incontinence got way better after surgery. It was gone for 9 years but it's starting to come back if I cough or sneeze. I'll be 64 on the 25th of this month.

I've learned not to spend too much time on the telephone with people. I used to think that's a good way to start, and sometimes it is. You can determine that you don't even want a coffee date with the person. Most of the time, it's a waste of time.
I spent a couple of weeks talking quite a bit on the phone with someone who lives near my son, 4 hours away. I guess he thought since we talked on the phone, we already knew each other. We met at the mall, and it was Christmas time.We walked around and I bought a few things. We sat down at the food court and he asked if I was done shopping. I thanked him for being patient while I shopped in stores I didn't have at home. Then I told him I would understand if he wanted to meet later cause I would be in town for a few days. He said he didn't do all the shopping for nothing. We WERE going back to his house to have sex, weren't we? He was also pretty upset that he wasted all that time on the phone, too.
Then there was the guy who had a hat on in his pictures and smiled without showing his teeth. We met for lunch, and I wondered how he was going to eat lunch when he had no teeth. He was also completely bald which would have been fine. I asked him why his profile stated he had black hair. He said he used to have hair when he was younger.
I can't believe I am still even willing to go out on a first meet/greet again!

I'm back on the wagon again. I had a couple of months where I was just trying to accept my new weight.
Saturday night I wanted to go out. I couldn't find anything to fit me! Every top I tried on was tight across the stomach area. I have a huge muffin top that hangs over my jeans. It's bad enough that none of my pants fit and I had to go buy new pants. I am not about to replace all the clothes in my closet with bigger sizes. I am going to stay on track.
I did well on the 5:2 and I will probably follow some of the rules which is not to eat anything after dinner. That diet stopped my grazing and I lost 20 lbs pretty easily, until I fell off the wagon and started eating anything I wanted.

I tend to stay away from the general sleeve discussion and now read rants and raves, the lounge, the powder room etc because of the same reason. I can't read the same question that I've been reading for 7 years.

All I can tell you is that at for me at 7 years, it has never gotten easier. It depends on what your trigger food is. For me it's sweets. I try my best to stay away from them but they are everywhere. Other people have a really hard time giving up bread. Whatever it is, it's something you'll be working on for the rest of your life.
Some people are really lucky, and their tastes for certain foods change. Usually though, they find some replacement food they now have to stay away from . Plus I can eat quite a big more than I could at 2 years.
We don't have regular bodies with regular metabolisms.

I lost all m weight. If you stick to Protein first and a little veggies when you have room, you can't help but lose.
Try not to worry. Of course if you cheat and eat candy which goes down very easily. that will change everything.
You can do it if you are dedicated to following the rules and adding some exercise in.

I was just wondering where you live in Southern Oregon. I live in southern Oregon , too. We have a great bariatric team here, but I went to Mexicali 7 years ago. The price was 3,000 cheaper, plus I liked that I would be in the hospital for 3 days. I didn't need to be, but I thought I'd rather be safe than sorry.
I went alone. I had no trouble being alone. I flew to the San Diego airport and they took care of the rest .I LOVED being in Mexico. Every day I went for a nice long walk outside . The weather was gorgeous and freezing cold at home.

Oregondaisy got a reaction from ella37 in Did anyone else have an easy recovery? I'm getting downright paranoid....
I couldn't have possibly had an easier time of it. I never took any pain meds. I spent most of my days walking around the hospital, outside Mexicali. I never felt afraid of the people around the hospital. They were all very friendly. Some asked my name and remembered it to say "Hi" the next time they saw me. These were Mexicali residents, not people employed at the hospital .
I was worried like you, that things were too easy. I could drink every single thing they brought me, without trouble.
Once you move to solids, it will be a different story. Just don't take that last bite when you feel full. It's very painful.

Like it was stated before, we already have a veterans forum.
Are you asking Alex to put a stop to anyone posting in this forum who isn't 18 months post op? Or are you asking to start a new vets forum?
I don't want a new one started. I think there are too many already. ( forums)
If there is a way to stop anyone from posting in the current vets forum unless they are 18 months post op, then I am all for that.
