Do you sleep hunger free?
Not at all! Just heart burn every now and again...

Supper tonight?
You could use 1/3 cup cottage cheese and sprinkle with sauce and a little parmesan. You get the spaghetti taste without the carbs. Or........just do like I do and go in another room while they eat..LOL I so love spaghetti.

32 of the Yummiest Grams of Protein in One Sitting!
I really like the SF Carnation Instant Breakfast. But.....Ive noticed that carbs and I arent friends. I try to minimize them as much as possible and keep it under 25 a day.

protein gems (jello)

Returning to Work on Thursday
Hey all, So I return to my job as a Nursing Assistant on a busy Med/Surg floor on Thursday. Today is my 3 week surgiversary. Im happy to be going back, but nervous at the same time. I run out of energy so quick. For example, yesturday I cleaned the kitchen for maybe 1/2 hour, ran some errands, and when I came home I ended up taking a three hour nap. Then after cooking dinner, I was so tired I went to bed at 7. So far I have been getting better on my fluids, getting 45-60 oz a day. This is quite an improvement for me. As far as protien, I need to improve. Yesturday I only managed about 35 grams. Could this be the culprit?

Day 11 and still having a hard time eating/drinking
Even though you are nauseated, you still need to sip sip sip throughout the day. Mornings are hard for me too because I wake up queasy . Try something warm/hot to start. it relaxes the stomach . I was the same as you, and when I finally started sipping continuously, the nausea cleared with 12 hours. Keep your head up, it gets better.

I've reached Onederland!!

Day 8 and I've hit bottom......help!!
Janet, Hang in there! After about a week and a half or so, things level out. Emotions included. If you are nauseated, drink drink drink. I found that mindless busy work helped to get past frustration. As far as the liquid diet goes, Im write there with ya. I am 17 days out and still on liquids. Just keep your head up and take it day by day! YOU ARE DOING GREAT!!!!!

started purees today...hungry?
I so wish I could move on to puree's. I am 2 1/2 weeks out and still on liquids. Not cause dr said I have to , he actually gave me go ahead for purees. Just anytime I try, it hurts. So Im playing it safe.

NO SLEEVE FOR ME!!!! : (
I too had GERD before surgery. But, now that I am on an acid reducer, all is well. I would seriously get another opinion as GERD, and gall stones can all be near resolved with the sleeve. It is possible that they may remove your gallbadder as well. Thats was the case with me. Anyhoo, I think the doctor just offers his expert opinion. You have the ultimate decision. Do a little more research before you decide. Best of luck to you!

Shopping in my closet
I too have lots and lots of clothes in my closet. I was looking at them the other day and my 14 year says to me, "Mom, why do you save all of those? You know they are out of style!" LOL I gotta love her!

Still a Fight!!
We both had surgery the same day. I have been eating Kroger Brand carb master vanilla yogurt. 1 of those is 12g protien. It takes me around an hour to complete 3/4 of it. But on top of that, I try to drink 1 20oz bottle of the RTD Isopure drinks that I got from GNC. They are tolerable. 1 bottle has 40 g protien. So between that and the yogurt, I end up getting 52 g per day. Now fluid consumption...thats another story. Im only getting around 32 oz a day. Always room for improvement I guess. FYI: GNC has the Isopure RTD bottles on sale right now until 2/24/11 for BOGO 50% off. They are normally $4.99 a bottle. Hope this helps..

Here's to an awesome NEW YEAR!
Dear Michelle, Welcome to 2011! You are a wonderful person, inside and out. No one needs to tell you that , because you already know it, inside. Now, you need to put on your happy confident smile, and embrace what the next 12 months has to bring. You are already off to a great start. Down 25 lbs from your highest of 252. Your feet no longer swell, your joints arent hurting near as bad, and your moods are way better. Now....my assignment for you for the nest week is to : 1) Get all your protien in... you have been slacking. 2) Take the girls out everyday and walk, walk, walk 3) Drink more water.....can't pick on DH if you are dehydrated and lack energy LOL On a more serious note, I love ya! Love, Michelle

Post Op Day 10
Today is post op day 10 for me. I have begun to feel better day by day. Im still on mostly liquids, though have been trying puddings , and apple sauce. Ive found that I am extremely sensitive to sugar. Anything over a couple grams causes me to get clammy, dizzy, and eventually have to rush to the bathroom. My sister in law who has had GB tells me this is what "dumping" is. So I have been reading labels like a mad women ...HAHA I noticed on the scale that after the first week I am no longer losing 2+ lbs a day. Its slowed down to average of 1.2 lbs a day. Hey, I am so not complaining. Since my preop diet the week before surgery, I am down 28 lbs. 28 lbs in 3 weeks, holy cow!!!!

I could really start to hate UNITED HEALTHCARE
I have UHC for Railroad employees. And they do in fact cover th sleeve. I was approved in 3 days, just sleeved on 12/21. They have been nothing but awesome with me. Have you asked for a case manager? If not, I would. Also, it doesnt hurt nothing for the surgeon to submit it anyway and later appeal. Best of luck to ya!
-
Im a new sleeve
I am still on liquids, ws sleeved 12/21. Here is what I have been drinking (you should still be on liquids for another week): 1) broth from Cup o Noodles (just give someone else the noodles) 2) Lipton soup mix, no noodles 3) Watered down cream Soups 4) Hot SF Cocoa 5) Lots of herbal teas I tend to do better with hot stuff anyway, its more soothing for the tummy! Best of luck to ya!
