    Just found this app.

I am scheduled for surgery tomorrow 7-11-22. Im nervous and excited. Its been a long road. This is the biggest I have ever been. I started out at close to 370 lbs and after learning how to eat healthy and what to eat I lost 16 lbs since December. I left a photo of now and hope to share my journey. Hair loss help?

Congratulations on the weight loss. Hair loss starts at 6 months. Be patient it will grow back. A short haircut might help or invest in some snazzy scarves if it is really bad and makes you feel better.

So I just got the call today that my surgery was going to have to be postponed a week due to the surgeons availability/schedule. Instead of July 6th, it will be July 14th. I didn't realize I was so attached to the original date. I'm sitting here silently crying because it got moved a week. When I was speaking to the scheduler on the phone, I literally felt my stomach drop when she said it. Instant depression. Can one grieve a literal DATE for something like a surgery??? I'm all kinda in my emotions and it feels really weird because of the reason why. For anyone who might have experienced a postponement - is this normal?

    About to do this thing...

In three days, July 14, 2022, I am scheduled to get my sleeve. My insurance company had me jumping through hoops for over three months to get to this point and I am excited to get this thing started. I've lost weight before by restricting calories and carbs, but I would eventually lose motivation and the weight would come back. Twelve years ago I dieted and went from 250 to 198, before I gained it all back. Nine years ago I went from 250 to 184, and I gained all of it back, plus a bunch more. In 2020 I was at my highest weight, But two years of working from home, I had gained another 25 lbs. Wearing gyms shorts, t-shirts and flip flops has been great, but there's no motivation like having to put on some khakis that don't fit and a tight polo shirt to drive into the office. My pants won't stay up and it looks like I am carrying a sack of groceries under my shirt. Embarrassing. That was the end of March and that was when I decided to talk to a surgeon.

    Help with Vitamins

You may also want a chewable biotin supplement since the recommended dose is 5000 and the multi vitamins typically only have 1000. You also may need a D3 supplement depending on how much the multi vitamin has (I was told I needed 3000 but my multi only had 1000).

    Help with Vitamins

They are once a day multivitamin and they include your iron. I was also advised to take calcium citrate as well. I took the bariatric advantage chews for calcium in the beginning but later switched to an over the counter brand of calcium citrate that is a large pill.

This calculator was encouraging to me, because even though the scale is not right now, it kinda gave me numbers to dream about. Of course there is no universal thing for all of us, and who is to say it is accurate lol, but it helped ease my anxiety now, thinking about the long term. https://sleeveclinic.ca/weight-loss-calculator/#:~:text=The amount of weight you,75% of their excess weight.

The length of your pre op diet typically depends on your BMI. On your profile it shows its 66. Some surgeons wont even operate on anyone with a BMI higher than 55-60 and its for safety issues. The heavier you are the more dangerous being put under anesthesia is. So they want to get you into a safe zone with your weight. as for smoking, Yup my surgeon said the same thing that you gotta quit by a certain point before surgery. It helps with healing to not smoke. My surgeon said that if it was too hard to let them know and they would prescribe some medication and or the patch, gum. watch this video. start at around 2 minute mark.

Hello. I'm in Southern Illinois, 47. I am also in the early stages. I have had my initial consult with the surgeon. On July 11 (My b'day) I have an appt with the nutritionist and getting an upper Gi. July 19 I get the psych eval. I had done the liquid pre-op diet a couple days so I know what to expect. I am excited but nervous! Let's Go Stl Blues[emoji170][emoji169]

Welcome back @acbenford. Just an update from the OP - Still a horrible tracker, but daily weigher. Still working for me and if I vary more than 2-3 lbs I get back focused for a week or more and that settles be back into a better routine for several more weeks. Losing very slowly these days, but still losing so not complaining.
