    I "snuck" having WLS

Tell him he’s been”cheating” when he uses the microwave instead of cooking over a fire, taking medicine for a headache instead of picking and brewing herbs, or driving a car instead of walking. 🙄 why is it cheating to take advantage of medical advancements which allow us to live healthier, happier lives? Best of luck to you, Orinskye!

    Liquid Diet Shopping Done!

Liquid diet starts on Tuesday for surgery on March 30th! My fridge is now full of protein shakes and my cupboards are full of broth and jello mix! I know it’s going to be difficult, but I’m also so excited. Walking through the store today, I browsed the other foods but obviously just stuck to my shopping list and it felt so freeing. I can’t wait to have this tool to help break my dependency on food and impulses.

    Any teachers out there?

I teach in New York too (I'm guessing by your name). What age group do you teach? If it's high school, you should be OK. Middle school is a beast so you might need extra time...

    I "snuck" having WLS

I can relate. I'd be fine to go the rest of my life without another well-meaning, judgemental, rude, and naive comment. I've told my mom, mother-in-law, husband, and two friends. All have been incredibly supportive except for one of my friends. A year ago when I mentioned I was thinking about surgery she said I was "Just bored" and looking for something to do. That really hurt and I haven't talked with her about it since. I don't plan to tell anyone else. There can be some negative reactions. We just have to choose wisely if we do tell, and not let bummer opinions slow our momentum.

3 month post op appointment with labs

I don’t take it but know from other issues that zinc supplements can cause excessive sweating so if possible (and it’s not critically low) you may want to consider trying to bring it up with diet first.

All of this. I'm very proud of how far I've come, relieved that I don't get gawked at when I go out in public now (when I was almost 400 pounds people would stare. I hated that), and being able to fit in something that I buy off the rack without having to actually try it on and it looking GOOD! (that was rare before my weight loss. I'd try on a dozen things and be lucky if I like even one of those dozen things. Now everything fits and my problem is deciding what I want and since I'm still losing to try to not buy too much because I'm likely to go down at least 1 or 2 more sizes. I figure with the way my clothes are fitting right now if I lose another 5 pounds I'll be in a different pants size and another 10 for a different shirt size)
