    Pain and regrets

Is this normal? You bet it is! Lots of us experienced regret. Soon you're going to start feeling better. Weight is going to start coming off, you're going to start fitting into smaller clothes, people will notice. That feeling of regret will fade away. You'll reach a point when the only thing you'll regret is not doing this sooner. Congratulations on your surgery! Good luck!

    I think I'm ready! [emoji848]

I have 9 days until my ESG. I'm wanting to make sure that I'm well prepared for all of this. I already have: 2 and 4 oz containers w/ lids for sf/ff Jello, protein powder and fresh/frozen fruit for smoothies, unsweetened applesauce, a few jars of baby food, a daily log food journal (ordered on Amazon), my calorie fat and carb counter, several different kinds of sf/ff flavored water - some with extra B vitamins for energy and some with electrolytes to keep me hydrated. Plenty of coffee and teas to replace my Diet Coke [emoji26] I'm picking up my meds in a few days. I know that I still need to pick up some more broth and ff milk next weekend. I have logs printed to check my blood sugar every 4 hrs and write it down for my endocrinologist. Is there anything else that anyone can think of? Is there anything that helped you most that I haven't mentioned? I quit smoking 27 days ago - cold turkey, and feel great about that!! I'm so ready for this!!!

    Stall Questions

I had my gastric bypass almost 5 weeks ago. I have seen my NUT and surgeon and they both said my weight loss is good (30) pounds. My problem is that I haven't lost any weight for almost two weeks. I have even varied between UP a pound and my stall weight. I suppose I'm just flabbergasted that not only am I not losing anymore, but that sometimes the number on the scale is higher. I always weigh at the same time every morning. I have type 2 diabetes and my blood sugars have been great, very few spikes and working on tapering down on insulin. My average macros for a day are less than 800 calories per day. 80-90g protein. 25-30g fat and 20-30g of carbs. At my post op check up they told me I was in ketosis and to up my carbs. This is also confusing as I thought being in ketosis was a good thing. I felt awful (fatigue, nausea) for a few days before my post op appointment, not to mention being stalled or almost a week at that point, and they told me upping my carbs would help. So now I average 35-45g carbs. The symptoms have subsided but the stall continues. I guess I'm wondering if a stall this long and this early on is normal and if upping my carbs to 35-45g is going to derail me further. I can't seem to find any answers and I don't have any friends to talk to about the stress of not losing weight. If you're reading this, thanks for listening. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Tmi!!!!!

I've always just done one serving a day of miralax or two if it's really bad. Needed it for three days post op but then was fine. Every day like clockwork.

    Pain and regrets

Pain is what the patient says it is. You are the one feeling this pain and people here who have gone through this type of surgery believe you. Some have more pain than others. Our body types are different. It gets better though. Give it a few more days. Again, some people regret after the surgery but the benefits will outweigh these initial teething problems. Hope you feel better soon Dominique. You have done the hard part already.

    First 5K walk completed

Try C25K, its a free downloadable app or you can find a C25K schedule online. I did this and it really helped me. I went from walking a 22 minute mile to running a 15 minute mile in less than 3 months. My endurance has increased and I can now run for about an hour straight without stopping. It has been integral in my overall health.

I can't help with the hair loss or A1C, but I can tell you about the last 20 lbs, how that was for me. It was HARD. I had to commit to hand to hand combat with each of those pounds. Here's what I did: --very strict eating regimen. I stayed under 1100 calories per day, no exceptions. Three small meals and no snacks other than protein shakes. No grains, no starchy veggies, no sweets, no tropical fruits, and no liquid calories other than protein shakes. NO EXCEPTIONS to any of this, no "small quantity of good food and occasionally more carbs" -- that's how people in maintenance get to eat, not people trying to lose the last 20 lbs. --weigh or measure virtually all portions and track religiously -- fanatically even -- on MyFitnessPal. --vigorous exercise at least 5 days per week, 30 minutes per day, but do not count calories burned or give yourself permission to "eat back" calories burned. Exercise for me had to include a mix of different types: HIIT, running, circuit training, weights. --if my weight stayed the same for two weeks, I switched over to 5/2 eating for two weeks and that would get the scale moving again. Good luck!
