  2. What's your experience w/the Dumping Syndrome?

    How long did it last?

    How did you cope w/it?

Has the dumping syndrome gotten worse each time more as the years go by?

I had the Gastric Bypass in 7/2015. The last couple of times i got the Dumping Syndrome twice last year, and once this year have been the worst. My last one was on Easter Sunday. I felt Fatigue, nauseous, gagging, shortness of breath, laid down holding my tummy, wanting to cry, feeling desperate, it got to a point where i basically was unconscious. Is it normal to fall asleep without no warning and waking up out of nowhere to "wth happened, how long was i out for"? It's gotten scary, and don't know if this is part of the dumping syndrome. I've had more times but not as bad as the last couple of times. 😢

  9. I’m 41, use myfitness pal everyday for the past 2 months to try to reverse the trend. Never even come close to the calories allotted for my height and weight to lose. That’s why I was wondering about anyone’s experience with the meds. I’ve read inconclusive reports for it slowing metabolism but who knows. Back in the fight I go

    Back to work!!!

I just went back to work on Monday after 4 weeks off for my gastric bypass. My advice is to stick with lunch foods you are familiar with and don't try something new at work. You may be tired at the end of your shift. I got dizzy and lightheaded towards the end of the day. Good luck! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Weight loss haulted!

I use Healthy Smart drinks that I mix with my coffee....I get them from Nashua Nutrition! They are about 80-100 calories, 15 grams of protien and 7 carbs..and taste awesome! A little pricey but worth it!

    March Bypass Buddies

How much should we be eating? So I got some specific answers from Dr at 6 week checkup. He said that right now, it is VERY NORMAL to only be consuming between 500 and 600 calories per day (which is what I average). At a year out, it's probably going to go up to 600 to 800. Another year out, it may be 800 to 1000 maybe 1200, but that is not usual. That being said, he has never had the surgery, so I'm guessing your mileage may vary (from my lapband experience the dr did not have a clear understanding of what you could consume - depending on the type of food). The numbers provided by your own doctors may also vary widely. I think it is important to listen to your body (not your mind) on when to eat. And follow the eating pattern of protein first, followed by complex carbs and avoid simple carbs.
  21. I am a huge fan of myfitnesspal! I have used it since before my surgery when I had to lose 40lbs before they would do the surgery. I stopped logging for about a year but I am back to it now! It really helps!!!

    Terrified of needles

whoa, whoa, whoa...... whats this about giving yourself a shot? My surgeon has never mentioned this to me. I'm 4 weeks out until surgery & no mention of this at all!
  23. This is kind of a repost. Had the same conversation with someone this morning. You’re not alone. 29 pounds is much easier than a 50 80 100+. Pound gain.... It can be done. If you have maintained for a year and not gained means you are eating maintenance calories. Log your food. Dial your calories back to get your body in weight loss mode. Back to baraitric basics. myfitnesspal free food log download https://www.myfitnesspal.com/ phone https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.myfitnesspal.android&hl=en_US Years out, much of weight loss is fighting the mental battles to get back on track. Seriously, I have motivators on my fridge to remind me of my goal and where I want to be. Its right in my face when I am seeking food. Makes me stop and ask. Am I hungry? How much room for calories do I have left in my log for the day? Is this boredom or emotional/stress eating? (see photos below *lol*) All I can share is my personal experience. I’m a sleeve. My surgery was in 2014. I have worked off a gain in my third year. Log your food. Make sure you are eating your weight loss calories and macros. I’m female 5”5” My calories are 900 to 1100 Carbs are 60 grams for weight loss. ***We are all different - You may need to dial in your calories to see what range you lose weight***. If you need help with this let me know. Get temptation out of the house and keep healthy options for sweet and salty cravings. I have a bit less restriction than I had in the first year. I found ways to fill the extra space and keep my calories/macros in range. Add as much veggies as you like until full. Ditch liquid and soft stage Protein. Dense protein will help keep you feeling more satisfied. I’m also back in weight loss mode for the summer* My food log is open.

Surgery is complete! Onto road to recover

I’m feeling really good :) the gas has definitely settled down. I’m making sure to continue with my walking regimen, 3-4 miles everyday so far. I’m down to 267 as of yesterday, I lost 10 about a week before liquid preop diet, then 10 days of that dropped another 20 and 5 days after surgery weighed in another 10 pound loss. So going to keep pushing and hope I can get to 220! But all and all, strong as bull and still have no hunger which is amazing!
  25. So here I am 3 years out (VSG Sept. 2016) and I’ve gained 30lbs and I’m so mad that I let myself get here. I did the pouch reset recently and it was more of a temporary fix, however I can tell my stomach has shrunk cause I cannot eat as much. I still can eat a good bit though. I’ve definitely included more protein and my diet, cut the carbs and sugar, but the process is very slow. Any suggestions on what I can do? I was thinking trying 500 calories a day but someone told me that’s not enough. I’m almost to the point where I’m scared to eat because I don’t want to gain more weight. I also walk about 30 minutes a day. I know that’s not much but I’m slowing building up my fitness level. Thanks in advance for any advice.
