Tired of being JUST a pretty face!

I was banded almost 2 years ago and have been unfilled for about 7 months. Not to fret, I'm going back on May 4th to get a fill.

What is it with mom's and their need to dwell on imperfections. I'm constantly being reminded by mom that I have such a pretty face but I need a body to go with it. I'd be lying if I said it didn't hurt to hear that. All I can do at this point prove her wrong and let her know that I'm more than JUST a pretty face. Strange how she sees what I don't see. She sees a pretty face, I don't. She sees a HUGE body, I see a person who lost 40 lbs. and on her way to lose another 55 lbs. I need all the encouragement I can get so if you can help that would be AWESOME!

I'm truly sorry to hear that you are having to hear those comments. I can relate to it but I got it from my mother in law. I can suggest to you is to be strong and don't show them that it bothers you even though it hurts alot. You should write a letter or talk to your mom about the comments, I can say that because my husband told his mom that its not nice to make comments like that and she has stop. I wish you the best on your weight loss success good luck I'm here for you if you want to talk.

It is a mother's dream for their children to be the best they can and as happy as possible. That is what is in her mind. I have a 15 year old and as stupid as we mothers can be that is usually the basis of most of the stupid, idiotic, unfeeling, rude comments made.

With that said I know it doesn't make it hurt any less. Let her know. "Mom, I know you want me to be as happy as you know I can be and as comfortable as I will be when I reach my goals, but in the mean time just support me. 'You look great! I know you can meet every goal you have.' will be the best thing you can say to me to support me."

It might not help, but at least you have done what you can and carefully and lovingly voiced your feelings.

You can do it!!!!
