A BIG Eye Opener at the Grocery Store...

I dont have my band yet but i am being banded on may 12th.:biggrin2: I went monday to the doctors and get all the information for the pre op diet. Well today i needed to go grocery shopping for my husband and i. I decided to get some of the food and liquids i would be needing for my pre op diet:regular_smile:...On my list i wrote Milk...i automatically opened the door and grabbed the whole milk and got half way down the store and realized i cant drink whole milk anymore...:tgif:(i have drank whole milk my whole life and i cant stand any other kind)....I felt sad when i had to take it back to the dairy isle and grab some soy milk . I really didnt end up buying anything but fish and crystal lite....im realizing that my best friend (food) cant be my best friend anymore and its a uncomfortable feeling....:) Am i silly for feeling this way...Did/Does anyone else feel this way:confused2:?

OH YEAH!

I STILL feel that way! I miss...I mean MISS my bread and all those other sticky, chewy, sweet things I shouldn't eat anymore. The need to fill that void is real, we need to fill it with something else....but be careful, I know people who got addicted to shopping or drugs..We are addicts..food is just our drug of choice. Is it hard..yes, but like any other addiction, it gets easier with time. (and replacement with a better habit, loving yourself).

Yes! I completely understand that feeling. I went (and am still going through) a process of mourning over losing my best friend of food. It fades as time goes on. The gap I used to have is slowing closing. It's a hard thing for people to realize, but you're SO right there with how I feel!

I wonder though, how come you can't have whole milk anymore??

there is really good fat free milk out there. It's called Skim Plus(I think it is only on the east coast though) or something like that. I tastes good and they have boosted the protein content. Check it out.
