I need some help and encouragement

I was banded in June '07. I've lost 41 pounds and I'm 60 years old. I was sick and tired of "dieting" and still don't like the idea. My husband and mother-in-law for whom I cook, have no weight problems and eat pretty much anything they want and both have sweet tooths, as do I. I'm feeling good about my loss so far, but during February I have lost and gained the same 2 pounds three times! The candy, cookies, and ice cream have taken their toll and I'm ending the month right where I started. I understand that I need to be stricter with my diet and lose the weight first--then enjoy the treats but I seem to crave a treat every day! Any words of wisdom?

Hello - I too have a sweet tooth, and it is a struggle. But you have to make your mind up and stay away from it. What happens is "the honeymoon is over", which means now you do have to work a little harder to lose the weight. Instead of having something sweet on a daily basis, try something like SF pudding with a dab of SF coolwhip. Or even better, the SF jello, this helps me on my sweet tooth.

I've also bought the SF candy and keep in case I need something a little crunchy.

Losing weight is hard, but you have to think back to the reason you got the band, pull out the rule book and start following it. When you fall off the wagon, don't beat yourself up, your human, just start again. Best wishes to you, and 40 lb loss is GREAT!

I have found the Hostess 100 calorie packs are really tasty with not a lot of sugar. They are small but they satisfy the need for sweet. I do not have one everyday though. I had surgery on 1-7--8 and have lost 27lbs. I have not had a fill yet. I limit myself to 900 cals a day and if I don't have extra calories available I just don't get the dessert. I plan what I am going to eat the day before and that helps me stick to my limits. Keep up the good work, you will get there.
