The journey begins

Most of the blogs I have read on Bariatric Pal start with a surgery date or actual surgery itself, I am starting now. My first appointment is April 14th to see the weight loss clinic and get my process started. For me it started the day I said to myself now it the time to do this and the day I had the courage to ask my family to support me in doing so. I still am in awe that my children all thought it was an amazing idea, I knew my husband would he has been through 35 years of my obesity, never complaining alway encouraging. We have had to all work and sacrifice to save as I am a private pay, they are an amazing group of young people. I should have enough money to schedule surgery in late May or early June.

I will try to share as openly as I can with you all, in the hopes it will help my success and perhaps someone else who is looking for support and friendship.................. until tomorrow.... drink water and sleep well

Hi Pegrae,

I just read your blog post and we share the same first appointment date of April 14th 2016 to see the weight loss clinic and get the process started.

I'm near Sydney, Australia. Desperately want to lose the weight and be healthy, but remain unconvinced the stomach sleeve surgery is for me? I like the idea of faster weightless and am surrounded by people who have had this surgery, so I have seen some great results. I have also noticed it does not fully work for some people, hoping that I am the side that it works well for...

I am concerned about the excess skin issues and further operations so am hoping I am one of those people whose skin shrinks well.

On the positive side I am really looking forward to losing weight and losing the associated health risks I currently have. I am really looking forward to having more energy and more life as a result of feeling healthier and lighter but also happier.

Good luck with your weightless surgery process. I look forward to reading how you are going.

Jela

Yes I too noticed very few start with the initial consultation date. However my blog dates back to 2008 when I first got Medicare and tried to get the lapband. If your interested in my journey to walk again here is my blog.

    • I’ve used my Xbox for exercise games too and it can be pretty motivating, especially on days when I don’t want to leave the house. Kinect games really do make you move, and after a session with kickboxing or dancing, I always feel like I’ve actually gotten a solid workout. The controller-free setup feels way more natural for workouts than anything I tried on the Wii. Zumba is fun but definitely takes a little time to get the moves right. Lately, when I’m not working out, I spend time trading CS2 skins and finding new guides on this link. There’s a lot of interesting tips if you’re into games outside of fitness too.
    • I'm literally almost crying reading this. Mostly because I'mon this pre-op diet and these last two days have been difficult... but also because I needed this! Thank you! Congrats! And a BIG congrats on quitting smoking a second time! It was hard enough to do it once... So - when I say BIG congrats... I mean BIIIIIG congrats! ❤️

      Einarmige Banditen
