I'm happy to not eat - my body isn't liking it though

I am 3 wks post op and have lost 27lbs. The first week went ok but when I started on pureed foods and protein shakes it became very difficult to keep up with it. I spent the day in bed yesterday and almost passed out in the shower this morning. I'm having a hard time forcing the protein shakes and barely getting in 250 calories a day. The most protein I have had in a day so far has been about 40g. As silly as I thought it sounded in the beginning, I have set the alarm on my phone to go off every 15 minutes and I have an oz. or two of water, I am hoping this helps. I am deathly afraid of losing my hair from the lack of protein ... hopefully that will motivate me to have more.

As far as pureed foods ... I attempted chicken but all I can get down is a teaspoonful before I start to feel sick. I was able to eat an egg last week but when attempted since can only manage 1/2.

Even with these issues I do not regret the surgery, AT ALL. I am very happy with the weightloss so far and I am sure things will get better but does anyone have any suggestions, recipes etc??

I am 11 days post op but have been able to get in more and more protein each day. I have been making myself sip on a Premier protein shake (one of them has 30grams of protein) each day. I purchased unflavored protein powder and have been dumping 1/2-1 scoop in everything I drink. Also, I just graduated to full liquids so I am able to have drinkable yogurts. I got the ones made by Lala and there are 5 grams of protein in each one and they are rather small. In addition, anything Greek yogurt has a lot of protein in it. I found these ice cream bars made by Weight Watchers that are Greek Yogurt with a little blueberry swirl and there are 5 grams of protein in one bar. I have been just sipping slowly but often and it is getting better and easier to manage to get it all in. I actually was able to get in 80 grams yesterday!! I was beyond ecstatic because I am really terrified of losing my hair! </3 Just keep trying, you can't give up and if you are having a difficult time with pureed foods right now, then wait a little longer. Nothing says you HAVE to graduate to the next level until your body is ready. I wish you all the best!

Congrats on your loss! I am still in the pre-op phase but I have heard many people say they liked refried beans and cheese, ground beef or turkey pureed with spaghetti sauce and cheese, protein shakes made with greek yogurt and 100% fruit juice. These are just a few things that I said I was gonna try once in that stage. I am loving the GNC banana cream ready to drink lean shake right now. To me it has a good flavor and not an overwhelming protein taste. Hope this helps! Can't wait to see you on the banded side!

Crysclev: I saw the nutritionist, for my follow up, today and she said the most liked protein shake is Premier Protein. She also told me to make sure I add protein to everything I drink, so perfect advice, thank you! I have not joined a support group because I already have such a busy schedule so I was very happy to find this website ... thank you so much for your response and suggestions and keep up the good work it sounds like you are doing great!!

delove32: Thank you so much for your encouragement! Beans was the other suggestion I got, I will be trying that this week. The nutritionist also told me that because I am 3 weeks post op I can process the chicken/ tuna/ turkey dry without fluids to actually puree and then add a little low fat mayo so the texture will be easier to take. Good luck on your surgery, you will do great!!!
