Pre-Op Diet Starts Today

The Journey Starts Today!

A few days ago I finished my pre-op tests and everything is finally in order! Today I started the liquid diet to get my obese liver in shape for the big day. I find myself constantly thinking about the impending surgery every day and hour. Am I making the right choice? Should I just try traditional weight loss one more time? Am I going to regret this decision? I've been thinking it over since last October and I think the pros out-way the cons so I am ready. I weighed in this morning and of course the battery on my scale is on the fritz. Go figure. Anyway, I got one more reading out of it and I weigh 291. Not proud of that number but at least it's not the 313 I was about 18 months ago so I have that to be proud of. Anyway, that's about it for now. We'll see how things go over the weekend. I'll check in on Super Bowl Sunday with how things are going. Go Seattle!

Edward, my husband and I were sleeved 2 months ago (10 years of looking at scary WLS). He was 320 lbs with diabetes, HBP, sleep apnea, heart stent, back problems. He was very afraid because of his health. He is 65. I was scared he would die if he did not have the surgery. Two months since surgery now, he is down to 273 (post op and pre op), and we are better mentally and physically. Wish we could have had surgery 10 years back but he wanted them t perfect it before he let them operate on him. God Bless. The longer you wait the worse it gets. Read and read more on this site, you will learn everythng!

Good luck with your new journey. I don't recall which WLS you're having. I got the band right before I was 62. The best thing I ever did. I wish I knew about it many years ago.

Good luck!! I was so ready when my surgery date came, but reality reared its ugly head and the few days after surgery I kept asking my self Is this really worth it? I had a hard time with fluids the first week, but I will tell you it was the best decision that I could have made! You will do great, just follow what your doctor tells you and check out all these forums, you will have lots of support!!!

Ed I know you will be so happy that you decided to do this. I debated and hem hawed around for months but when I finally made that step I was determined to follow through. My health was at stake. If you look at some of the veterans on here like Jim and CG you will see that they have lost massive amounts of weight and have regained their lives.. Best to you and we are all here to help you on your journey..

    • I’ve used my Xbox for exercise games too and it can be pretty motivating, especially on days when I don’t want to leave the house. Kinect games really do make you move, and after a session with kickboxing or dancing, I always feel like I’ve actually gotten a solid workout. The controller-free setup feels way more natural for workouts than anything I tried on the Wii. Zumba is fun but definitely takes a little time to get the moves right. Lately, when I’m not working out, I spend time trading CS2 skins and finding new guides on this link. There’s a lot of interesting tips if you’re into games outside of fitness too.
