Trying to go from band to sleeve

I have had my band 2.5 years now and in my first year have taken off a nice amount of weight but I have never been stress free from the side effects of the band. I have had numerous pouches and had to be deflated hospitalize once and now instrested in is the sleeve .What I would like to know has anybody went from band to sleeve? what was the process? Did your band have to come out a while before being sleeved? Has anyone just had the band removed and the same day sleeved?

I got my band out at the same time. I was self pay so I wanted an MD who did alot of band to sleeves and I wanted it done in a hospital, not a "clinic" (I had my band done in MX in a clinic-no complaints but not the same as a sleeve)

Some surgeons just staple the sleeve other staple then sew over the staples I wanted the later. Good luck on your research. The bottom line is I love the sleeve hated the band.

Welcome! There are lots of band to sleeve revisions here. Mine was a month ago. It seems like the people who have to have the revision in 2 stages are usually people who had erosions, slips or esophageal dilation. Then the surgeon wants time for the damage to heal before proceeding to the sleeve. My surgeon told me he would try to do it in one but couldn't guarantee until he got in and saw. Mine ended up being in 1 surgery and I am very glad it was. You wouldn't believe the difference between sleeve and band. Good luck!
