From: Staying The Course On Pre-Op Liquid Diet

Today is my first day on the liquid diet--I thought it would be high protein' date=' low carb, but the shakes I am suppose to use have 20g carbs in them! I have to work a 12 hour shift today--maybe its good to be at work without tempations :) ![/quote']

Wow, that is a lot of carbs. My protein shakes have 7g. Do your shakes have added sugar?

I am using Opitfast and the second ingredient is SUGAR!! WTH?? The Opitfast is required by my surgeon for the pre op diet. I was using Pure Protien, which only has 1g of sugar--Optifast has 17g!!! Still struggling on day 3, craving real food--hate this artifical stuff. Do you think I could have an egg white without sabbotaging the preop diet///

Gastric Sleeve Patients

I was allowed 2 cups of vegetables a day during my pre op diet, I secretly ate a few bites of rice and nothing happened.... Butttttt I am considerably smaller than most wls patients and only had to do 7 days (my doc usually has a 14 day mandate)

Pre Op

My Surgeon required a 14 day pre-op liquid diet that consisted of Glucerna shakes and any clear liquids. The Glucerna's didn't agree with my digestive system because of how sweet they were. Stick with it, don't cheat. It is so worth it! Just try to distract yourself. I promise it gets easier. You still need that same will power for the rest of your life to stay on track, so you may as well start now! Good luck! I am routing for you.
