Blood Pressure - 3 Weeks Since Surgery

So my blood pressure was great while I was in the hospital, then the dr. told me to stop taking my medication. The next week it yo-yo'd up and down from normal to high. Did the same the next week and at my post op visit. One day it was extremely high but I figured it was the end of the day and maybe I was just stressed. So I was put back on my meds a week ago. Normally my pressure is fine with the medication. This week it has been kind of borderline. This morning I checked it and it was scary high. I knew something was wrong because I woke up with this terrible headache. I don't know what am I doing wrong or why it is like this.

This is pretty discouraging for me because I was looking forward to not taking medications again. I am not losing weight like I want and that is bothering me as well. People say I am looking smaller but ...well you know I guess it is about how you feel.

Today I feel like crawling in the bed and staying there. :(

Be careful. I am surprised your doctor told you to just stop taking the BP meds. Also, it takes awhile for them to be effective, so you were off of them for a couple of weeks (?) it may take another day or so for them to kick in. You do NOT want to have a stroke :( If you experience high BP tomorrow get yourself to the doctor.

I had surgery on 1/25. I was initially on 4 blood pressure meds and now I'm down to 2. My PCP cut my blood pressure meds dosages in half. I'm continuing to take them until I have my labs done. Don't be discouraged you're only 3 weeks out as the weight come off you will see an improvement. Welcome to the losers bench!

Please make sure you are consuming enough water and not too much sodium. After surgery it takes a while for things to normalize. I came out of the hospital on BP meds and was fine before I went in. I was scared also but after about 2 weeks I was off the BP again. I am 8 weeks out but still occassionally check my BP to make sure it is okay.

I too had surgery ( 4/24) and before having the surgery my B/P was fine, but while in the hosptial my blood was up and down; however, after returning home and going back to my regular medication regimen my B/P begain to normalize. i check my pressure twice daily to track the readings. In the final class we were told that we could possibly be taken off all B/P meds, but I found all individuals are not the same. Stay in touch with your doctor and report any changes. drinking water is very important and follow the meal plan given you. Also, I found for me by getting up and moving (brief walking) helped tremendoudly.

Thanks

it's reading better for the past few days. I have taken the advice and drank more water. Walking more and stressing less. Headed out to walk now while it's cool out.
