That shedding 100 pounds wouldn't make me feel good. Once the glory of fitting into size 14 jeans and large tops wears off there is really nothing to be happy about. I was just as healthy, if not more considering before there were no foreign objects in my abdomen and no slits on my torso, as I am now, but my brain feels exactly the same.

I used to cry because I thought being thinnER would make me so happy, and would change everything, when in reality the only thing is changed is what I'm crying about. Now I cry because I did so much to get here and my heart and my brain both ache just the same.

Take a look a look under that silver lining.

Congratulations on your weight loss. I feel sad you're not happy. Maybe call your doctor's office and they have some one to talk to about this. There are obesity therapists. When my son was around 10ish we took him to one because he has been over weight almost his whole life (he is 34 now) and he is finally doing something on his own.

Good luck and stay in touch with all of us.

My nutritionist told me that it takes years for the Mind to catch up to the realization that your thinner. I believe this totally because I pass the Mirror each day and can see the WL but I still Think and Feel FAT. You've done and awesome job!! The idea of talking to someone that understands eating disorders is a great idea..........Think about why you thought being thinner would make you happy, was it because you'd be able to do more? The hardest part with or without WL is LOVING who you are on the inside first..It's a TOUGH first step, but you did this, I know you can get past that. HUGGS

My sense is that it is vital to work with a therapist specialized in body image/eating issues as part of the WLS journey. I hope you have access to one so that you can rejoice in all your hard work. In the meantime, well done! You have spared yourself some major health challenges, if nothing else. That's something to be happy about.

First of all congrats on your incredible weight loss. Very impressive! If you knew then that you would still feel this way after shedding the weight...would you still have done it? My brother asked me before surgery if I was losing the weight to feel better about myself or beautiful.....I said NO...I always felt good about myself. He said, then you won't be disappointed when you get there and still feel the same about yourself. I listened to him very closely...and he was right. Good luck on your journey sweet pea.

The unfortunate thing about WLS is that it doesn't fix the root cause of obesity. Overeating to the point of MO is usually driven by emotional or psychological issues. Our bands control the symptom of those issues (over eating), but not the cause.

The reason you're still unhappy is that your body is fixed (more or less) but your hurt heart, soul and mind are not. I can relate. I've lost a lot of weight in the past, without getting counseling for my unresolved problems stemming from childhood abuse. I felt vulnerable and gained all the weight back, and more.

Please look for a counselor who can help you understand what is troubling you and work through it. Hugs (((())))

Consider doing something wonderful that you really enjoy in the time you would have spent creating massive quantities of food and all the tasks that surround it.( I had a big FOOD FOCUS to learn to handle. I have become a bird watcher and have some nice feeders. I garden for exercise and fresh air. Getting the organic produce is an extra plus and am healthier for it. I was a bit lost until I did this. You might benefit from a councilor to get you started. I needed to replace the old habit with a positive one or two. We have some young grand babies and I love to play with toys on the floor with them. I could never have done this before. Nothing like a big ole hug and drooly kiss to fill a void! Hugs and keep us posted. You are doing wonderfully well with the WL,
