Lap Banded 11-8-12

I am a 51 year old wife, mother and grandmother. I was banded 11-8-12 and also had hiatal hernia repair (that I wasn't expecting). I am very sore, swollen and bruised but each day is a little better. I do feel a little nausea first thing in the morning but so far so good. Guess I really wasn't expecting it to be so painful. How long does it take for the swelling to go down and to start to feel human again.

Hi. Banded on the 8th also. 55 year old wife, H.S. administrator, grandmother, et cetera, et cetera, right? We do so much. My incisions hurt so much more today than yesterday. But...I'm still so excited because I'm not hungry at all.Just clear liquids for a week - how about you?

I'm on liquid pain medicine - Roxi something - makes me groggy, but all is good. Hang in there- good luck!

Take care.

Congratulations!! I also had the hernia fixed but knew about it because I had to take 6 pills a day just to eat. My stomach was also in the wrong place and that got fixed too. I was banded 7/30 and feel super. The pain lasts about one week but I found the shoulders hurt the most from the gas they put in you. I was told to use a heating pad and that helps. I am also a mother, grandmother but I don't work anymore. I am a 62 year wife, the other day was my 42nd year anniversary. All the banders on this site come in different shapes, sizes and ages. It is a fun site and you meet super great people. Enjoy your new life. I am enjoying mine, finally!!

thanks for the responses, I have been reading on this site for a while to see how everyone else does. I am trying to get as much protien as I can and the pain is better now that I have removed the bandages ( not the steri-strips) I have not been hungry but keeping plenty of fluids in me. I go back to work next Tues ( I hope). We are actually raising 2 grandkids, one with special needs which was a big part of my decision to get the band, to get healthy for him and feel better and be able to do more with them. Can't wait to see what the furture holds. Best of luck to you and keep me posted :)
