To fill or Not to fill

I have an appointment November 7th to have a fill but, I was thinking I wantto wait until after Thanksgiving. I am headed to my Grandma's in Alabama for Thanksgiving and really want to enjoy the holidays but at same time do not wantto jeaperdize my weight lose. My husband are driving from Texas and decided to stay a few days in New Orleans. I have never been to New Orleans but all my friends keep giving me restaruants I need to eat at. Why does entertainment always revolve around food? My question is should I wait until I get back so I may experience the food of New Orleans and Grandma's or stay on track to my weight loss goals.

If you are losing weight, you do not need a fill. My doctor believes that you only fill when you need to jumpstart your weight loss. On the other hand, your idea that you want to enjoy the holidays is a little scary. We are like alcoholics in that when we had the surgery we mentally and physically committed to never and I mean NEVER binging again. NO MORE "ENJOYING" the holidays. Enjoyment comes from the faces of people who admire the new you, the one who doesn't need seconds or thirds anymore. I strongly encourage you to read my archived blogs at

I can help you if you need it and you can write to me at michaelwasfat1@gmail.com

btw- I am 5 1/2 months post-op and have lost 91 pounds out of my target loss of 101. I can help

I have to agree with Michael you are heading down a slippery slope if you do not want a fill because you want to enjoy the holidays. I am going to take a saying from NA, and what you want to do is "stinkin thinkin". You are trying to convience yourself it is ok to binge and enjoy a little break, after all look how good you have been. As foodaholics we need to change our attitudes and behaviors towards food, food has to be what we need to sustain us. We have to find new ways to enjoy our family and friends and the holidays. My suggestion is stick to your journey, it will bring you life long fulfillment where that sampling of food will only bring your eaters remorse. Good luck!

Thanks, I didn't think about it that way.

i say no fill for now. it will be a good test to see if you can indulge with moderation. you can have what you want, just not to excess. I think breaking even after the trip is a win. if you go crazy, you will know you have much more psychological work to do. either way- best of luck and have a safe trip.
