Hey Kim, I think this feeling that you have is totally normal. I to went through the samething. I will tell you from first hand my husband and I are both banded. Band date for me was 12/09 I lost a total of 103 lbs in 1 year. I worked really hard. My husband was banded 10/10 he hasnt done so well because he hasnt tried. He has lost about 20 lbs. this is just an example for you. In the past few months ive gained 23 lbs. Trying to get myself back on track now. As far as the skin everyone is different. I would take saggy skin any day over fat tight skin. lol... go for it girl you can do it! I would do it over in a heart beat if i had too. :D

I think the best advice that anyone banded gave me was to keep your band filled. It seems so obvious but I have an aunt who only lost 12 pounds. Now, after being banded for 2.5 years, I can't see how that is possible unless she has next to nothing in there! I'm currently unfilled due to inflammation in my pouch from it being over-filled. I went for over a year with no adjustments and did great. I made the mistake of eating corn on the cob and that plugged up everything! Since then, I've had a tough time finding the perfect place and will only get fills under flouroscopy now! So, my advice is to go for it! Easy-smeazy surgery and keep it filled, only under x-ray and don't worry about the skin. I'm with Boshie and say that I'd rather have saggy skin than tight fat skin. A good friend of mine saved her $$ and got a body lift after her drastic weight loss. For me, my skin just shrunk slowly as I was shrinking. Best of luck and do what is best for you!

If one follows the diet and does not cheat themselves, keeps up with their maintenance, has no problems with their hardware which is somewhat rare or have another medical condition, there is no way that this will not work for them. You will hear of problems in here from time to time but i would imagine that most of the time it is one of the 4 above mentioned reasons why the problem is occuring. Some may disagree with me but that is ok. Sounds like a lot but it is really not. For me is is pretty simple, do I want to live miserably and die earlier than needed or are the carbs more important. I chose life. You have to decide for yourself which is more important to you and go after the one you want. Best of luck to you..

as for the skin it depends, but if you work out it will eliminate that and slow and steady loose weight. Some people genetically dont have that much elastic in your skin. then it also depends on how much you lose and how much overweight you are. I would take loose skin anyday over being fat!

Sounds like you need a better support system. You can do this, not everyone has the loose skin issue. Its more common in gastric bypass patients than lapband. I think you should seek more positive support.

I am banded and I absolutly disagree with keeping your band filled. I did that thinking the weight would come off quicker. It did not. What did help, however, was learning that I need to eat GOOD food 6x a day and get some exercise and weight training in. I was working out very hard and barely eating cause my band was so tight... nothing was happening. I hired a nutritionist and trainer - boy, I learned very quickly how wrong I was. Truth is.... eat high protein, low carb and good oils with every meal, 6x a day and do some light cardio and weight training 4x a week and the fat will start melting off. If you dont believe me, do some research. I struggled for a year with not much weight loss at all. Now... in just 3 weeks the FAT is coming off and my body is not burning muscle because it has no food. True sttory

I did really good for 8 months and lost 83 pounds. Now I eat between 800 and 1200 calories/day. Carbs between 30 and 75 per day. At least 80 grams of protein. Eat some fat but don't go hog wild. Exercise at least 4x week for 30 - 40 minutes. Have stopped losing weight for about 5 months now. I am very disappointed.

Do what is RIGHT for you. I didn't tell anyone, only my family. I have lost 110 pounds and have kept it off for over two years. I eat right and I exercise. I don't talk about myself to others non of their business. I feel great and I just had a breast reduction and tummy tuck and I can say I feel like a model. I look like one too. I love my new body and I feel great about myself. I would get banded again and again if I had too. It worked for me and I worked with my band. I eat small to be small. Best wishes imaluckydog

May I make a suggestion? You need more calories. You need 1 gram of protien per pound of body weight. I weigh 180 so that s how many grams of protien I must eat to maintain lean muscle mass - which is key for a good metabolism. As you can see, you need more calorie intake. Guessing, you need around 1700. Add weights to your workouts if you havent already. Heavy weights. Dont worry, you will NOT bulk up from that! You're also eating a little too many carbs. Make sure you are eating your carbs from fruit , veggies and 1 whole grain per day (like brown rice). You need a good MUFA ( monounsatuarated fatty acid) with 3 of your 6 meals. I eat a handful of nuts or use olive oil on my chicken or veggies. Trust me, you do this and you will see the fat melt off again.
