This band has a mind of it's own!

I have been banded 7 months now. I have only lost 30 pound but Im ok with that for now. I have had several fills and one un-fill. I just dont understand this band. I can't seem to make any sense of it. There are days when I throw up ALL day and other days when I eat perfectly fine and eat larger portions than I should. 2 months ago I got something stuck and went 3 days without eating OR being able to get fluid down. I threw up my own saliva ever 20 minutes. The doc did an un-fill. A few days a week I feel a super-tight restricion and even though I am very careful about chewing and eating slowly....I still get that stuck feeling then end up throwin up for hours and hours on end. It is sooooooo annoying. Nothing seems to help. I know after throwing up so much my stomach gets inflammed and then when I am able to get fluids down I am extremely careful.

Does anyone else have a finicky band like this? Does anyone else get stuck episodes frequently? The doc says I am only half full in the band and does not feel like I need more fluid out. Its so hard to believe that there are days I go without eating at all and other days I can eat normally and yet I still dont lose much weight. I am religious about my workouts but when I have a sick day, I dont workout because I simply dont have the enerygy with out the fuel in my body. Sometimes....I wish I never had this band. Other days Im so thankful that I spent the money and have endured all that I have gone through. UGH.

I feel so bad...I have had the band almost 1 1/2 and I have learned some stuff...Not sure if it will help but hope it does! This is what has helped me because I was the same way! I am super tight in the morning to the point where I dont eat till like 2 in the afternoon but then I am so hungry and the band is dry i eat and get stuck and barf...SO!!! In the morning now I drink some water or crystal light or non fat milk and then eat some cereall! even if i dont want to i do...and then that helps me to losen up and make me want to eat throughout the day...If you dont eat you wont lose!!! :) Hope that helped! Take care and keep us updated!

I am the same way - mornings are the worst and yes, I don't eat until the afternoon. Can't get anything down in the morning except a few sips of hot tea. I was so frustrated and stressed that I couldn't eat so the Dr. took everything out to let my stomach rest. I gained 10 pounds in 3 weeks. Guess I didn't learn anything. Now I'm back to where I was as far as liquid goes and having a hard time eating. I'm not going to have them take anything out until I lose the 10 pounds I gained (down 4 so far). But I don't understand the ups and downs - eating some days, not others. The dr. did tell me stress has a lot to do with it but it's very hard to talk yourself out of being stressed. Sorry - just rambling here, but wanted you to know I sympathize!

I am 7 months out and have lost 70 lbs. Just the last two months I have been having the same problem. Especially when I don't chew my food slowly and don't let it go down properly. I tend to eat very soft foods. I also have to start my mornings with hot tea, that seems to work and then i can eat breakfast. You are all correct this band is so finicky. But I will deal with it since I am losing weight with it. I will just be very careful with what I am putting in my mouth.

I usually start off in the morning with the low-fat yogurt eaten ver slowly -- seems to do well. Then mid-morning have a little oatmeal. Often I will just have cottage cheese and some fruit for lunch, a protein bar mid afternoon and then fish or very tender chicken and veges for dinner -- I really like the Jack in the Box teriyaki chicken bowl -- but don't eat the rice. Very small portions chewed very carefully -- I find I have to stick to softer foods as well. I can eat the fish part of the sushi but too much rice will get stuck. It's a learning experience for sure.

yikes...sorry to hear u r having such problems.... i have almost no restriction after 7 fills...my band is almost to its limit. I have not lost or gained any weight in almost 6 months...very fustrating. I have gotten stuck because of stressfull moments..so now i try not to eat with my kids lol

When i do get stuck i make sure i go to the bathroom and start doing my breathing and spitting up..the longest it has lasted is 45 mins of hell...it doesnt help that when i lock myself in the bathroom i have 2 toddlers banging at the door telling me to come out ;-)

Anyways..dont get down on the band...it si not a miracle cure... sure i have not lost much weight 18 months=50lbs BUt i have to let myself that it will take time. I do think that if you are constantly tight and cant even pass down liquids you should get the band loosen up. Like some one said if you dont eat you dont loose.

Best of luck and Chin up!
