With my particular insurance I started the process in September and just received my approval letter last Thursday. I'm scheduled for surgery on Dec. 20th. The chance for a new life is worth waiting for. Don't give up!! Good Luck!!

Waiting is good but you have to call and pressure your insurance if you want to move things along quickly. just make sure you do what your insurance ask you to do and if everything is done on your behalf you should get a answer in about a month to 2 months. Good luck

Thank you all so much....I started my journey in september when I went to my 1st siminar,I gave them my info and never got a call back but htat was ok,that let me know that the hospital didn't take my insurance,I even asked and was told-well we have a hospital in another county that accepts your insurance,thats ok I took it as a sign to keep trying and go to another siminar so I did,It was a hosiptal that a friend reffered me to,It was wonderful,the doctor that held the siminar left me speechless and that was unsual,I called the next day and was schedule for my first conceltation,,I am so happy I am just wondering where to go from here? I was told the I would have to go to a group meeting,I am hoping that I dont have to wait for that ,I'm gonna call ans see...thank you all for the help...I really mean that.

I started my journey in the beginning of september and I was approved by october 31 and had surgery dec 7 (Still can't believe it). I got everything that needed to be send by the end of september. I was also fortunate to have an insurance specialist on my side who has a lot of experience and according to her "you get approved one way or another!" lol....good luck and I wish you the best and just never lose faith!!

Hello it will take 6 months from your 1st consultation to your surgey date. There are many things you have to do within that time. Like, 6 month of working with a nutritianest, a psyciatiy consultation, perparing all your paper work. The 6 months will fly by, when I heard 6 months I started to cry. And the NP told me it will go by very fast. And it did, I had my surgey done back in OCT 26th 2009.

Don't give up!! It's all worth it !! I lost 130 pounds.. Best of luck to you...

I've read tons on here when I first started my journey. It just all depends on ins co. It took my ins. Co. 10 business days. What took up a lot of time was waiting for dates for the seminars and other group meetings. It will go by fast! Good luck!

I really want to thank everyone for the encouragement and the hope that I can really go through this and I dont have to do it alone,now that I have really explained everything to my spouse he was kinda ok with it and he told me what ever I deside to do he will be here to walk beside me which ever way I go,that makes things so much easer to deal with and also having Friends like YOU all helps a bunch.....really it does,........Thanks camille01

I went in for my consult on sept 15, I found out on Sept 17th that I was approved by my insurance. I could have had my surgery in sept or the first part of Oct. but my boss on Vacation around that time so I scheduled my surgery for Oct 25th, I just had my first fill on Dec 7th.. I have lost a total of 30 pounds and feeling great..
