Diet Restrictions On Fill Day?

My doctor's office has told me there are no dietary restrictions on the day of my fill. I've read here that many of you cannot eat/drink before your fill. Do you know the reason for that? I am wondering if I would do better to restrict my diet even if the doc's office doesn't require it?

My office requires no food 1 hour before, but fluids throughout. I asked Dr. Perlman why? Her explanation was that they want food to have passed through so nothing gets stuck during the fill.

Our office isn't as strict though as most others. We do liquids for 6 hours after, softs that night and return to solids the next day. Giving the new restriction time to settle in.

Mine is no solids the day of and the day after. Same as fool4, their explanation is that they don't want anything in the pouch when they do the adjustment. I've found that the diet restrictions AFTER are necessary for me because I can't typically eat solids for a few days even if I wanted to! :)

Good thoughts everyone - thanks. I do think I'll take it easy at least on the day of the fill. It makes sense to me, having read the explanations, that you would want the food to have passed through before the fill.

I eat breakfast solid, lunch soups fill in the afternoon and then nothing but liquids for 24 hrs. That is usually enough to get past the swelling of the fill and helps kick start a little weight loss too! Just remember to get the protien shakes in when you are not eating solid protien! Best Wishes.
