Training...all for nothing or something??

I find myself sitting here this morning and reality just kicked in. I've been training for the Seattle 1/2 Marathon for almost a year, and due to having surgery for my band slipping...well, I won't be competing. I wanna curl up into a ball and just cry...I worked so hard and have come so far. Just really disappointing that I won't be able to cross that finish line. Having a "fitness goal" has really kept my motivation up this last year...and definetely helped with the weight loss. I guess its time to look into another race and start the training all over again. I can't help but feel a little "let down"! Ok...time to stop whining and get outside for my little 1/2 hour walk.

Stay positive and keep on track Christy....I can do this...this is for me!

I know exactly how you feel....I have been banded for 8 months and had a slip on September 9, doctor went in and "unhooked" my band , but left it in place, let my stomach heal, then went back in on September 21, and "rehooked" it - so I have had two surgeries within a couple of weeks. I had worked up to running 5 miles each day I was going to do my first 5k this past weekend....but that didn't happen!!! Doc told me the same thing - I could "walk" this weekend if I feel up to it....not being able to run is killing me!!! So I know how you feel - we are technically starting over!

I am so sorry! That has to absolutely suck. But good for you for picking a new race and starting again. It will be so amazing and worth it when you do get across that finish line!

Sorry about the race & going through surgery again:( But you sound like you've got the right attitude to start again. I was happy to see you mentioned the race was in Seattle, Washington. I grew up in Seattle & don't see many people on this site from Washington. I now live in the desert portion of the state. Not as pretty but very little rain. We also share the same birthday...small world. Well this is starting to sound creepy so I will end it & say Good Luck were all rooting for you :-)! lol
