It's time for the butcher (a.k.a plastic surgeon)

Down 151 pounds since last year and I am making arrangements for my pannulectomy.

I called around last week and prices were ranging from $9,000 to $16,000 for a tummy tuck. I was asking about tummy tucks because I didn't want to try and pronounce pannulectomy.

I had a consultation with a plastic surgeon yesterday and was quoted $4,870. He comes highly recommended. The price is a lot less than I thought because he said I can get 40% covered by insurance if I have my umbilical hernia fixed simultaneously.

I have another consultation next week with another highly recommended plastic surgeon next week. I am probably not going to try any more unless the diagnoses and quotes are very far apart.

I am really fearing the pain but am looking past it to the final outcome. I'll be losing 10 to 20 pounds of ugly fat and skin.

Then I won't have to tuck my dulap into my swim suit and the next picture may be me in a speedo.

B..I know you are getting close to your goal weight..would you do this now or would you wait until you actually hit your goal weight (or I guess come within 10-20 lbs if that is how much they would remove). I guess why I am asking is I would want the scar to be as tight as possible afterwards. I had the opposite happen. I had a tumor remove and the surgeon made it really tight..I gained a lot of weight and now the scar is kind of sagging. If I had a tummy tuck I wouldn't want the same to happen. So the question is your opinion if I was to do it...reach goal or do it if I was 10-20 lbs out (I am 12 lbs out from goal..it is in my belly and my thighs). Lipo might even be a better choice. I haven't seen anyone. Thanks.

Thanks all!!

FnC, My ultimate goal is 170 pounds but if I never lose another pound I am content where I am now.

When I set the 170 goal, I set a plastic surgery goal of 215 pounds and I hit that 2 weeks ago.

I'm estimating that I will lose 10 - 20 with surgery and 6 - 8 inches off of my "waist". I don't mind a little sag in the scar. The surgery is strictly for practical purposes, not cosmetic.

I actually asked the doc about lipo and he said that the cost is close to that of surgery and surgery would be needed later anyways.
