canada to Tijuana for my lap band... nervous

I am going Sept.2 for my surgery. I am taking a big risk because there is NO doctor here to do my fills. We have a clinic but they won't touch me because I didn't get my surgery there. They were charging around 18,000. +++ for everything. I will have to travel to MN for my fills about an 8 hour drive. I am super motivated about this surgery but food has been my best friend as well as my worst enemy all of my life. I really want to make this work.:rolleyes2:

I had mine done here in Canada. Worth it as with the psychologist, nutritionist and trainer. I feel it will be worth the money in the end. Think of the side effects of not having it done here in Canada

LAP-BAND Patients

I am sure there are good Doctors in Mexico but I have met two women locally that went from California to Mexico because the cost here is $15,000 and in Mexico they paid $4,500 to $5,000 and both have been post op for well over a year and fly back for fills but one has only lost 36 lbs and the other 45lbs though that is good weight loss it has been 16 to 18 months and they both still have a lot to lose it doesn't seem to me like they have the restriction they need.
