On the final leg of my journey to bandom

Had my pre-op appointment at my surgeon's office yesterday. It was just another lecture on what to expect. I didn't get much out of it because you people already told me everything.

Then went to the hospital today where I will have surgery next Tuesday for a pre-op there. Once again, pretty uneventful. Gave blood and peed in a cup.

I should be excited and/or nervous but I am not. I just want to get it over with.

I haven't eaten real food in over 2 weeks and it is going to be at least another 5 weeks. I am not hungry but I miss food.

I remember I thought it was weird I was not excited or nervous at all on my surgery day. I think they mess you around for so long you are just plain READY when the day comes. I think the week after surgery was harder for me with the food because I knew the liquid diet was coming to an end. You're doing so good and I'm really excited for you. woowhoo next Tuesday!

I think we just get to a point where we just want to be banded! We have all been through so much already, and this pre-op stuff is just the last hurdle to jump before the proceedure.

I remember walking into my pre-op appointment with a list of questions that I had - all from this site - and getting more answers (and then comparing to what was said on here! LOL)

I am wishing you all good things! this is the best gift your can give yourself!

I know what you mean by missing food. I'm 9 months post - op and I still have that feeling every now and again even though my diet is no longer restricted. What I'm finding though is that food has become less and less important to me over these past 9 months. I used to think about my next meal hours before the time came or obsess over that sweet something or other waiting for me in the break room. I like to think that I'm winning against food now - it's losing its power over me. I hope that gets to be the same for you (and that it continues for me).

I wish you the best in these next few weeks and onward! It's an exciting time!

Guess it would be in bad taste to make bets on the success of future banders...but my money is on you. You already have done great...let us know how it goes!
