I just have been banded on January 6, 2009. I really had a protein meat preop diet, and my post op was liquids for a week. I lost 8lbs. But since I have been on solids, I have been up to my old tricks again and I feel ashamed! I am exuding NO will power and still snacking on garbage, sweets and fast foods! I hate myself right now. I wont get a fill until feb. 16th and i have gained back 4 of the 8 pounds i lost on my liquid diet! I feel like a total loser, (and not in a good way).

Help me, someone, Im drowning!

You shouldn't be ashamed. There isn't a person on this site that has not cheated on a diet at least a hundred times.

The band isn't going to give you will power. That comes from your head. You need to get at the core of what is making you cheat.

Do you know what it is that triggers you to eat garbage? Is it boredom; stress; the smell or sight of food?

Have you considered anything like therapy, hypnosis or acupuncture?

Well let's speak the positive into it.. You've come this far, you've gone through surgery and lost 4lbs. Starting today and every day after you'll make healthier choices in food and not resort back to old habits. You realize that the band and fills is NOT what makes you lose weight, and that it's just a tool to help YOU lose the weight by restricting portion size. Going forward you will think about everything before you put it into your mouth. Is this going to help me get near my goal or further away from my goal? Is this going to help me succeed of fail? Remove all the garbage and sweets from your house and know that for you all the fast food places are closed. If time is an issue you will prepare most of your meals and package them on Sundays, find protein shakes as meal replacements and avoid all of the fattening foods.

If you need some assistance on healthy recipes I can assist you, but you really need to figure out why you're sabotaging yourself so early on? Have you dealt with the issues of WHY you eat? If not seek counseling or a lapband support group in your area to help you deal with the underlying reasons.

Best wishes and God bless!

Everyone cheats!!! dont put yourself down.

Just change one thing out of your day...such as...dont stop at the fast food location!!! keep going. I always carry something in my bag, Special K protein bar, even whole grain crackers...just something to get me through the craving.

You need to keep youself busy...pick up a hobby. get a good book.

I am always sorrounded by food since i take care of my 3 small kids and they are always asking for snacks/drinks ect. It has been really hard to reframe from having a snack here and there. and i will admit that that is why i have not lost the weight i thought i would by now (almost 4 months out)

you just had you surgery, that is no way you are going to get rid of bad eating habbints so soon... but try to find why you are reaching out for those foods.

Good luck in your journey.. and chin up!!!!
