Have you ever had vomiting with the flu?

Hi guys! I wish I was writing for a better reason, but I got the flu. The one thing they tell you to try and avoid!! ( like you can do that!).....I have been vomiting for the past 24 hours. I actually ended up in the hospital for severe dehydration from loss of ALL my fluids. They tried to do an IV 4 times but I was so dehydrated they couldn't get it. My question to you is have any of you been sick with a GI bug like this to the point of vomiting. I know that vomiting is NOT good when you have the band, and they did take an x-rays of the band and said that it is VERY inflamed from the puking, but I begged them not to take out my saline. I don't want to go weeks with no restriction. So they left it in but told me if I puked anymore I was going to have to get it out. Has anyone had this issue, and what happened? How did your band take it? On top of worrying about the band...the thought of food makes me dry heave....so I am defiantly not getting my nutrition in, but all I can handle is water. Ugh!

Why not empty the band? And why, if you do, would it be weeks to get it filled again? Please think of your health first.

Wow I woke up with dry heaves this morning too!!! Diarrhea yuck as well. I was feeling dehydrated and started drinking water made me more sick, I am drinking Gatorade now and I am feel a little better. But not much better. Oh bother, I have not ever been sick yet with my band. I do not have a temp so I am hoping it may just be a little bug. It will be a long ride home if I am sick in the car.

We are bringing kids back to college this week end. I hope this does not last long and I sure as heck do not want to go to the hospital. I sure would have a fill removed if it would make me feel better. They would fill you right up again when you feel better. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. imaluckydog

Oh luckydog I am sorry you have the sickness too! If it is any consultation it doesn't last really more than 24 hours...I woke up this morning feeling a whole lot better. I hope you are feeling better!!

Thank you I am feeling a lot better now a few calls to Dr.'s and some imodium, lots of fluids has helped. These things just need to work themselves out. It has been the first time I have felt under the weather since June 29,2009 so I am a healthy camper. I almost thought I had the flu but thank goodness I do not. I am already feeling much better. Hope all is well with you and best wishes. imaluckydog
