Do I have food stuck?

Hi! I am two weeks post op and had some chicken last night and a bite of bread and I have had pressure in my chest and a feeling like something is in my throat ever since. It is now 3pm the next day and I was wondering if anyone knew how long food can be stuck for? 21 hours now and that seems like a really long time. I would appreciate any thoughts you might have.

Thanks!

Lou

Have you had and water? Yes food does feel like that if the piece of food does not get chewed up well. It is a stuck feeling. Try drinking some liquids slowly and see if it gets moving. I had a long stuck time only once. Just remember what you ate and go slower next time. And remember to chew even better. If you have pain call your Dr. they will want to hear from you on that. Best wishes and hope it moves soon. imaluckydog

I can relate to getting food stuck. Do not eat your food to fast. Take a few minutes in between bites. Take very small bites and CHEW CHEW CHEW. I made the mistake of swallowing a bite of food just to answer a co-worker and oh my God I thought I was going to die it wouldn't go down or come up. I was stck for over an hour. Then I was swollen for several days so that may be what you are experiencing. Take some liquid Tylenol that will help.

I agree It may feel like you have something stuck but you would know nothing else will go down... you probably irritated your stoma and which does not feel good either. goes easy on solid foods for a day or two till it feels better.
