Should I or shouldn't I?

Well, my husband thinks I am "throwing money" at my problem by getting the band. I want to be free from my compulsion to over eat. As a type 1 diabetic, my endo is all for the band. It will bring down my A1c, my weight, my lipids, my blood pressure. Of course, hubby thinks I should "just eat less and exercise more". Why is it that thin people think fat people don't know what to do to lose weight! :)

I only need to lose about 70 lbs. I have been successful losing weight in the past, but it always comes back and then some. The thing is, I can afford to self pay. I want to do it. How do I convince my skinny husband?

You guys, I would have had this surgery years ago, but my husband, who has always had a 34 inch waist thought that he could help me and I could loose it, and I did over and over again. This time I paid for it myself, set up everything and then told him, oh he knew I was going through with it, he went to the pre-seminar and I was committed. He could not understand because his metabolism is so good and mine has never been, when you excersise a lot you build muscle and that helps with your metabolism to burn fat and not store it. I too believe that some of us have more hunger hormones released to the stomach and the brain. I am 57 and wish I had the guts to have gone ahead with my plans 10 years ago! But you know what? I am here now, 31 lbs lighter, and tomorrow will be 2 months! I am going to show all those doubting folks what I can do. Just wait and see, that is the attitude to take, attitude is altitude, how high do you want to go? I am going to the top!!!

Thanks, Redbone and Janet! My husband thinks he can "help" me, too. I don't need/want a policeman watching everything I eat. I don't want to sneak food in the middle of the night. It's not helpful knowing someone is always watching you. I want it to be MY decisions about what/how much I eat. Of course, if I was good at that, I wouldn't need a band - ha ha. But I think it strains a marriage.

I am 46. I don't want to wait anymore! I want to travel and be comfortable doing it. I want to look good going out to dinner. I want to shop and not feel like everyone else is thinking, "Why is she even looking in here - she should be at a plus size store." I want to lie flat on my back and put my arms at my sides, not sprawled out.

Sorry - I guess I needed to vent.
