First Week banded... will it get better?

I am one week in on having my band placed. i have noticed i am still a little week, filled with gas and my belly button still hurts were the incision went. Does anyone know when I will start feeling normal again? I guess once I can start eating soft proteins, like eggs and cottage cheese is should get better. i have not even been able to go # 2 since I have been banded. Is this normal? Any feedback would be great. Regards and Thanks!

It WILL get better. Things will turn around after you're allowed soft foods and you can get your energy back.

Call your doc about taking a laxative...I was allowed and took one a few days post-op and felt like a new person (I don't know why the docs don't tell you to do this routinely as many here are giving 'birth' weeks later...more pain you don't need). Best Wishes! -BG

Hi

I had my surgery on the 27th of August. Started feeling good about one week post-op. Still get tired faster than usual but that is to be expected. Not thrilled with the diet for the first four weeks but it will all be worth it. Tuff it out. When you look in the mirror in a month you will smile. I am down 15 pounds since surgery and looking forward to watching the scale arrow move to the left.

it took me 2 weeks of constant sleep, and only liquids to feel normal again after surgery...

no #2 for me for 5 or 6 days either, and then things got normal again.

the port sight may hurt for a couple more weeks but that will get better as well, and sleeping will become comfortable again.

Things do get better!

I was banded 22nd of August. I was tired all the time for the first week, then was able to geo back to work the second week (although I could only work for about 4 hours because of the lack of energy). Here at week 3 post-op I feel great and energy is almost normal.

I am still going #2 every 4 days but started drinking 1/4 glass of prune juice everynight which seems to be really helping....if you can stand the tast.

22lbs and counting!
