He didn't try to talk me out of it

I know it's probably silly of me to feel this way, but I can't help but feel hurt now that my significant other didn't try to dissuade me from getting this surgery. In fact, he said I should just get liposuction! It confirms that he is just as unhappy with my weight as I am. If or when I get the lap band surgery, he will be among the first to be excluded from my life!

Hey fedup2009 , - let me tell you about that. the men just do not have it easy when it comes to dealing with us and banding. if he doesn't support us we are mad, if he does, we are mad. my husband said to me just today that he loves every pound of me and that even if i didn't have surgery, he would still be happy with my weight. i felt the same way you did - " like why isn't he trying to talk me out of it??" - in the long run, i am doing it for me and my health not for him - so it doesn't matter what he thinks or says at this point. - make sure this is what you really want and go for it....

I can't believe you.. It sounds to me like your husband is trying to support you. Do you know how many fights this has caused when a wife wants to do it and the husband won't support? Health is the important part maybe he wants you around!

My bf wasn't excited about it, but he said he would support my decision with whatever I wanted to do. He said he would love me if I weighed 600 lbs which I can't imagine. I however didn't care whether he did or not because ultimately it is my decision and this decision is for ME! Not to sound selfish, but you have to do this for you...if you feel that it is right for you. Males are in general bad with communication. He prob just wants to agree with you and avoid an argument.
