My Journey to Living Life in a Healthy Body

Day One of: I'm serious about this.

Yes, I really am going to do it. I am going to jump through all the hoops I need to to get my LapBand surgery. To those of you who may have stumbled on this blog, and of course don't know me, I am married, a mother of three beautiful daughters (two in college, cha ching!) and have run my own business in cosmetics from my home for 19 years. I am a social butterfly, LOVE people, and until I started gaining a ridiculous amount of weight after being diagnosed with cancer 2 years ago, I was very active. So far, I've been to my oncologist (who referred me to the Bariatric Program I am going to, and said it would be a good idea to get the weight off since he has watched me struggle and GAIN weight since he began treating me), the bariatric surgeon, who told me I'm a good candidate, and the Psychologist who gave me an exam and set me up with the contingencies I must complete before having surgery.   Contingencies! Well, I have to see a shrink 6 times to make sure I'm not psycho, a nutritionist 4 times, and lose 10 lbs, then he will schedule my surgery date. At first, I looked at him and wanted to say, you've got to be kidding, a shrink 6 times?? A nutrionist only 4 times? What does that say about where he thinks I am mentally? Well, whatever it takes. I guess I feel a little fortunate after I got over the disappointment that I had contingencies, that mine are relatively easy to comply with. Shrink? Maybe I'll learn something new about myself. Nutritionist? Now that I have to admit, can't hurt.   The 10 lbs? Now that's the tricky one. Tune in next time for my plan on how to get that one done!
