One year Anniversary...down 70 lbs :)

So, I had my sugery one year ago today and I am down 70lbs. I am very pleased even though when I first began my journey I did expect the weight to come off a little quicker but I finally realized this is the way it is suppose to happen. Although I lost weight from Dec. to July it was slow going but when I finally hit the correct fill I have been losing about a 1lb a week. The best part is that I have not gain anything back. I can not remember when the last time was that I did not lose then gain lose then gain...this is a good feeling. I would like to lose 50 more lbs (ideally I probably should lose 75 but I will be very happy with 50 more lost). I am ready for the new year and I am feeling pretty good about it!! Hope everyone else is feeling the same as well. :P :P :P :P :P

Need some imput...

Ok, I had my surgery on 12/28 I have lost 20 lbs however since I have been on solid food again (since Sat.) I have had to watch ever bite so as not to gain weight. Is this normal? I get my fill on the 2nd and I understand the whole "banster's hll" philosophy but will it always be like this? just wondering, I know this is a tool but I was wondering to what extent did you all "diet" after the surgery between the 1st fill?

20lbs down-surgery last Monday..

Wow, 20lbs down already. I lost 8 pre op and 12 over the past 8 days. Went back to work today and was very tired but was a good day. People even noticed the weight loss (not very many people know about my surgery yet so it was nice when it was recognized without an expectation). Go to doctors tomorrow afternoon I will let you all know how it went. Oh, one more thing, I ate mash potatoes today, they were yummy!

Word of Encouragement

Just a word of encouragement for those thinking about doing this...even up to the last minute I thought of cancelling my surgery. I am very glad I didn't. I am not one for pain and thought it would be way worse than it was. Don't get me wrong it is not painfree but it is manageable and I have already lost 17 lbs. 8 Pre-op and 9 post-op. I know from what I have read that the weight loss will slow but I really feel like I have a way to be successful now.

Day 6 post op

Well, things are going well here. Yesterday, I went out for a few hours and did shopping and stuff. My husband and I talked about how much money we would have to spend on other things now that we won't eat out as much. lol Today, I am feeling pretty good only wish I could get a bit more motivated to clean the house before I return to work. It is not all that bad, however, I need to put Christmas decorations away and straighten the rooms up. Would rather just rest but oh well. Hope everyone else is doing well out there.

Ah, Day 4, feeling better.

Well it is day 4 and I feel much better. Still tender and I wouldn't volunteer to do any sit-ups but I am not really in pain so to speak. Just tender and still a bit gassy. I had my first real protein this evening. I sipped down some egg drop soup. It was satisfying yet not really appetizing if that makes sense. I got more enjoyment watching my husband eat his food. I was very hungry before I ate the soup and was certain I would be able to eat a good portion of it but I only ate about 1/4 of the serving. I am surprised I got so full so fast since I don't think I have a fill yet. Is that full feeling in the beginning normal?

Concerned about having to get more surgery?

Well, I was browsing on utube today and they have a few really good lap-band success videos on there. I am concerned though that when (noticed I did not say if) I lose the weight I will have to get a tummy tuck.I am really not in the position to pay for such a surgery but am concerned about the excess skin. Maybe that is not the case with everyone that has lost the wieght? Any imput from those who have lost the weight? Any good excersises to firm up the arms and belly area as I lose? (No worries I won't start to soon since this is only day 3 post-op.)

Day 3 post op

Well, I am in less pain today which is a good thing. I even survivied a cleaning at the dentist. Didn't want to cancel since it takes a long time to get in for a cleaning. My friend drove me which was very nice of her. I am just resting now. Hopefully, I will be more energetic tomorrow. Very sleepy today.

What to tell people?

First, I want to say I am good with being banded and I have no problem sharing my story but I would like to know if there is a simple way to let people who really are not close firends about my surgery. I would rather just answer than be whispered about. I am a teacher so I know when I lose weight I will be asked. I got banded yesterday during break. I go back to work next Monday. A few people at my work already know so it will be a matter of time before it gets around. I know the food police and weight patrol are out there so any positive advice?

1 day post op

So I am banded, I had my surgery yesterday at 7:30am. Came home about 11ish. Sore but not as bad as I thought it would be. I am actually a little more sore today. Much more gas too. Don't fill like eating or shall I say drinking anything but know I should since I am taking pain medicine. Lost 9lbs on pre-op and today was up 1 only because of the swelling. Wish I could sleep a bit better. Anyone esle out there that was just banded? How are you feeling? Any suggestions on some liquids that are tasting good to you?
