Taste of Home! I am going to be featured in my Dr.s Booth!

 I am getting a little freaked out tonight! It is raining cats and dogs here tonight and I have to be at my Dr.s Booth at Taste of Home, Healthy eating and living. I am the featured patient from the LapBand Surgery!!! My first appearance and I am not even at AFTER!!! Now what to wear, how will I do my hair, hope I don't get wet and the mascara runs, OMG I am so darn nervous! I should do fine, cause I will just be myself, that is all I can be. But less of myself. Oh I can and DO tell everyone about my surgery, but not with my Dr. standing there with me, Oh well, guess he will get to know me a little better. The Hospital where I had my surgery is sponsoring the booth! Pray for me please, tomorrow Tuesday at 4:30 PM!!:rolleyes2:

I am going to be a beautiful Mother of the Bride!

:rolleyes2:Yes my youngest daughter is getting married in October! She has always wanted the different things from all the other girls so 10-10-10 is her choice for a wedding date, won't be around for another 1,000 years! Great Choice! It will also be cooler in Florida for a wedding outside! We went shopping for "Styles" in Wedding gowns and Mother of the Bride Gowns Saturday and a Tasting from the Caterer's. The food was delicious and by the time we got through with the Cocktail selections I was full! LOL The tiny crab cakes (4 of them) were the best! And the crostini's were good too (2) Shrimp Cocktail (2) and I was stuffed! I found a beautiful gown, loved the style on me! A size 14 is what I tried on but I "HAVE" to order a size 12!!!!!!How wonderful is that? When I started this LapBand Journey, I weighed almost 270 lbs and wore 22-24-26's depending on how they were made. I Thank God for leading me in the direction of the Band! Have a happy Day all!

Lost another lb this week so far and the week is only half over, so far so good. But I am loosing my insulation! MY FAT! Anyone else FREEZING?????}}}}}}}}Burrr! Warmer Weather, and My spirits are lifting too!

:frown:Great!! The warmer weather is here, 68 degrees today! And the sun felt so good! I saw a lot of folks I have not seen in a long time today, and I just got compliments all day. It was truly wonderful. I have never been the center of attention like I was today, and honestly it was sorta embarrassing but in a good way, I could feel myself blushing! It has been 15 years since I was this small. I have a great restriction now so I just can't eat the food I use to consume, down another lb this morning, Yea! I have to drink a lot of fluids now, and stay hydrated, so the lbs will drop, especially with warmer weather coming we all will, it helps your body flush the fat you burn during the day too. Good Luck Guys, Enjoy the coming springs!

Down 74.4 lbs! Yes I count the .4 lb~~~62% of Excess Weight Gone Forever!!

:thumbup:I feel so blessed that I heard about the band and went forward with the surgery. Down 74.2 lbs with only 26 lbs to go to get to my goal weight and not quite 7 mos into the program. I have lost over 62% of my excess body weight! And I have managed to keep fairly toned by going to the Gym and Walking! The Hospital Administrator called me for permission to share my photos and story in a Medical Journal that they publish in and I told her YES! I just hope that my story will inspire and help others who are struggling with weight issues in their lives! God Bless you as you continue on this journey is my prayer!

.1 CC is all I Got~Could it be I am at my SWEET SPOT???

:confused:well that is it! I have hit the spot with my LapBand that I am not needing any fills for awhile. I have good restriction and even tho I am still losing weight, I can eat a good amount of food and fluids to be satisfied! Now I have to relax and let the band help me, and make food choices that are good and low carb, and continue to exercise! I went in for a fill, weight and measurement appointment yesterday 6 mos and 11 days post band. I am down 71 lbs! Yeahhhhh! I also lost an inch and a half from my waist and inch in the bust, and other inches in the calves and thighs and upper arms. I could only get in .1cc. The Doctor put in .5cc's and had to remove it all but the .1cc, I was refluxing back up in the esphogus! My band is staying tight! That means I am not stretching it out by eating foods that will do that or overeating! I was a little disgusted with myself and disappointed that I had not lost more weight this month, but he said I will not drop as much because the ratio of weight I have to lose now in proportion to my excess body weight is just right, and this will allow my skin to tighten. So I have decided to be happy for now, and content to just continue on the Journey with the Lapband for life. Over a period of five years, you will lose weight on the LapBand if you eat right and exercise. That will be me! I am committed! I went shopping today and bought some BCBG jeans in a size 14 regular! And a top BCBG in a medium! I love to shop now! I don't have to wear the X's anymore or the W's! I am in a whole new department! Again did I say I LOVE IT!!!!!~~~~~~Don't stop short of the program, eat right, not too much, five small meals a day and at least 30 minutes of exercise three times a week for life!!!!!

Exercising The all Important Factor in weight loss and Life!!!

:ohmy:EXERCISE!   OH HOW I HATED TO EXERCISE, AND EVEN NOW I HAVE TO PUSH MYSELF BEYOND MY COMFORT ZONES!   BUT~~~~~EXERCISE IS THE ALL IMPORTANT FACTOR IN TAKING OFF THE ADDED WEIGHT OF THE YEARS!   FOR WOMEN, HAVING BABIES PUTS ON WEIGHT FOR SOME AND THEY NEVER CAN PUSH ENOUGH TO GET IT OFF(FOR ME~AND FOR SOME THEY ARE A SIZE 2 RIGHT AFTER) YOU ARE BUSY WITH THE BABY AND JUST ABOUT FORGET YOURSELF.   FOR OLDER WOMEN, THE AGE AND SLOWING DOWN DUE TO AGING HAPPENS, AND IT DOES NOT SEEM WORTH THE EFFORT JUST TO LOOK GOOD!   :tongue_smilie:BUT IT IS NOT JUST ABOUT LOOKING GOOD! IT IS ABOUT FEELING GOOD. AND LIVING LONGER HEALTHIER LIVES.   :w00t:TWO MONTHS AFTER BEING BANDED, I JOINED A GYM, WENT OUT ON A LIMB AND PAID FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR(GOT A NICE DISCOUNT TOO) I KNEW I WOULD GO IF I PAID AND NOT LOSE THE MONEY!!LOL   :w00t:I WAS SO UNSURE OF MYSELF, DID NOT KNOW A THING ABOUT ANY OF THE MACHINES EXCEPT THE TREADMILL AND THE BICYCLES! BUT THE GYM OWNER WAS A PERSONAL TRAINER AND HE SET ME UP WITH A CARD AND A ROUTINE! SO FEELING LIKE AN IDIOT, I GOT INTO SOME GYM SWEATS AND GOT STARTED. THAT WAS 4 1/2 MOS AGO.   :wub:TODAY I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER! I DO NOT BREAK OUT IN A SWEAT EACH TIME I GO TO THE GYM, I DO ABOUT 45 MIN TOTAL TIME ABOUT THREE TIMES A WEEK. I GET IN 10 OR 15 MIN ON THE TREADMILL TO WARM UP AND THEN HIT THE WEIGHT RESISTANCE MACHINES. I AM WORKING HARD ON THE ABDOMEN RIGHT NOW, THE UPPER ARMS(SO THEY WON'T BE TOO FLABBY FROM THE WEIGHT LOSS, AND THE INNER AND OUTER THIGHS TOO) I STARTED WITH 15 LBS OF WEIGHTS AND I AM UP TO 60 & 75 LBS ON MOST ALL THE MACHINES NOW. BUILDING MUSCLE, IT DOES WEIGH MORE THAN FAT AND LAST MONTH I GAINED INCHES FROM THE ADDED MUSCLE BUT LOST A FEW LBS TOO. THIS MONTH I AM DOING THE SAME THING. SO I AM NOT DROPPING THE WEIGHT AS FAST AS I DID TO START WITH! SO WHAT, THE INCHES I HAVE LOST ALREADY AND THE LBS ARE SUFFICIENT FOR NOW, AND AS I BUILD MUSCLE, IT WILL IN TURN SPEED UP MY METABOLISM TO HELP MY BODY ATTACK AND BURN FAT!   :smile2:MAY I JUST SAY "I LOVE MY GYM" THE FOLKS THERE ARE SO HELPFUL, YET THEY LEAVE YOU ALONE TO YOUR WORK. I MET AN OLD HIGH SCHOOL FRIEND WHO HELPS ME NOW, HE WAS IN "MR. WORLD" CHAMPIONSHIPS AND PLAYED FOOTBALL IN SCHOOL, STILL LOOKS GREAT AT 57, STILL IN SHAPE AND STILL LIFTING WEIGHTS. AGING IS SLOWED DOWN BY THOSE WHO EXERCISE ON A REGULAR BASIS~IT IS PROVEN IT HELPS ARTHRITIS, ETC. GOOD AND HEART HEALTHY, START SOME TODAY.   EVEN IF YOU CAN'T OR WON'T BE JOINING A GYM, START WALKING THREE TIMES A WEEK FOR 30 TO 45 MIN. AT THE TIME, DOING SOME FLOOR EXERCISES, (THE KIND WE USED TO DO IN THE SCHOOL GYM WHEN WE WERE YOUNG) JUMP ROPE, JOG, WHATEVER YOU CAN DO TO GET MOVING, YOU WILL WATCH A CHANGE TAKING PLACE IN HOW YOU FEEL AND LOOK AND HOW THE SCALES LOOK BACK AT YOU!   I PROMISE! DON'T LEAVE THIS ALL IMPORTANT FACTOR IN WEIGHT LOSS OUT OF YOUR LIFE, GET THE MOST FROM YOUR LAP-BAND® SURGERY!:thumbup::tt1::tt1:

Happy Today!

 Well I am ready for a fill. Not sure why I just can't get the scales to drop that much anymore. I feel like the restriction is less now on some days and more on others, but it does depend on what I am eating too. One of my best friends is getting ready to have the LapBand, she is going through the hoops that BCBS is making her do. And the Diet Clinics don't really help you, cause they just want you back and your money!!! The latter being the most important thing. I hope she does not get discouraged, she will be so happy she made this choice. I am down 67 lbs give or take a lb or two that fluctuates daily now! Support group meeting tomorrow night and I will be so glad! I NEED it. I want to thank all of you who have helped me these last six months. I know it takes time to go in and comment or send a private message, but it means so much to me. I don't know you all but you know where I am because you are there too, and it so helps to share on here. I am Happy Today to have all of you in my life, you are my Valentines!:thumbup::tt1:

Despite being depressed about Plateau-The Scales Went Down!

:mad3:2 lbs down this morning! I just thought I had hit the end of my weight loss at six months. I was so depressed, I even ate two small brownies after a church dinner the other night! Maybe I was so worried, I was cutting back and not consuming enough calories, whatever it is I am thankful! Also ready to get in the swing of things, with more exercise and good eating. Looking forward to spring, the next 6 months of my journey and a tummy tuck this July! Hope all has a great day of being a loser with the LapBand AP!:bored:

Half Way-Today! Six Months Post op!

Well it is six months today. When I blogged earlier I did not think about it! I guess I should be very happy that I have lost 65 lbs now.   But I keep looking forward, and yesterday is gone, I have today and if God is willing tomorrow. So I will plan on doing better every day from now on, that is really all I can do, cause I can not control the events, happenings of my LIFE, but I Can control how I react to those events and happenings when it comes to food consumption! (Thanks to the LB Surgery)

LIFE HAPPENS:We Fall off the PLAN~How to get back on Track!

:thumbup:ok so it happens! How can we go for the longest time dropping weight, saying NO! to foods we know will sabatog our plan, feeling great, We DID it! And then, one day we DON'T write down the food we ate that day, or we didn't drink enough water, or we ate a SMALL peice of candy or cake or some forbidden fruit that will kill the ketosis! One day leads to the next and we fall into a sloppy habit~but we are busy and there is just no time? (Or we don't make the time~NOW do We?) BUT we are eating the rest of the time right, and we are going to the Gym two to three times a week, and in between LIFE HAPPENS! We don't measure portions, we guage our intake of foods, (they are usually way too much, because our brains are not banded) Can't blame this slip on the Band! Maybe we are in between fills and we are stretching that band too much by consuming too many calories, (even a trip to the Gym will only even the count; so maybe you just stay the same, not lose a lb!) I'm just sayin! Life Happens~that is usually the case, or I know it is with me. NO STRESS! Let's see, The Economy is in a horrible state, I am building a house, about half way to the finish line, decisions, decisions. I am in about two lawsuits; hopefully they will result in getting my major investments back so I don't lose all my retirement! They have been ongoing for about two years now. My youngest daughter just announced that she is getting married this year and I am very happy about that; UNTIL the first planning meeting with future in-laws last night. Looks like a VERY expensive wedding~~~hummmm lets see, now who gets to pay? My house may get put on hold (AGAIN) Extremely HAPPY that my oldest daughter is Pregnant, after trying for 8 years and lots of surgery, etc. We are in a state of Joy over it. Then I find out my Oldest Sons wife is Pregnant too, and both babies are to come in the same WEEK! Wow! Just like Twins and in my family grandbabies come in twos! Two and a half years ago, we got a little girl and a little boy 11 days apart by my two sons! (So how to I be with both at the same time and help out a little? S-T-R-E-T-C-H~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ My Car is messing up, and it won't be cheap to fix it, AND I am NOT going to trade, cause I don't want the monthly payment! Haven't had it paid off that long~ISN'T THAT THE WAY IT ALWAYS IS? Today is my youngest Grandsons first Birthday and the party is tonight! (Of Course there will be lots of Food!) I ate three or four large bites of ITALIAN CREME CAKE last night! Now I am ridden with GUILT:eek: I did what I taught myself NOT TO DO! I said "Oh Well, I am celebrating my Daughters Wedding!" (And I am worried about money) So have the darn CAKE, it will make you feel better, COMFORT!) It was~FOR A MINUTE! NOW I feel miserable and I can not UNDO it~:frown: Oh if they only had the UNDO button on food like they do in PHOTO SHOP! LOL So today is Friday and TGIF, If it was MONDAY I could start over, RIGHT? WRONG! I am starting over today, I AM GOING to WRITE DOWN all my food today, I AM GOING To only eat Protein for three days, and control the portions! Monday I will check my Ketosis, hopefully I will be there~Then I am going to stay on Mushies for 7 Days, lots of protein, not over 50 grams of carbs or LESS:scared2: I should drop a few lbs with the Start OVER! In spite of it all I am on a good track to healthy~So I am each day on a roller coaster of Happy~Upset, Happy~Upset, Good News, Bad News, Good News, Bad News. Dealing with Husbands trials, childrens trials, Financial trials, Up~Down, Worried about everything from day to day. Spending a lot of time in Prayer, asking God to take this from me. :cool:I thank God that I have had the Lap Band Surgery, and I am going in the right direction, even tho I lose my way and get off the track, I can only look forward now, I WILL NOT GO BACK! If this happens to you, and I may be the only one, but I am just sayin! Get your mind screwed back on, start thinking positively and looking forward and get back with the plan, and you will prevail. 1. Keep the food log. 2. Drink the water.(to flush the fat and keep hydrated) 3. Exercise three times per week. 4. Get that much needed protein.   I hope you have a great weekend and a positive week ahead.   "Life Happens" We just have to resign to live the LapBand Life~For Life~" I love being thinner and the LapBand Life is the life for me and YOU!

20 Days~Standing Still on the Scales~But Standing Strong!

 DON'T KNOW WHY! DON'T CARE!   IT WILL ALL WORK OUT, CAUSE I KNOW THAT MY BODY IS HOLDING ON TO WHAT IT HAS, I WAS SICK FOR OVER TWO WEEKS WITH THE FLU! DID NOT EAT ENOUGH, NOT EAT RIGHT, NOT EXERCISE AT ALL. SPENT TOO MUCH TIME ON THE COUCH AND NOT AT THE GYM.   NOW THAT I AM WELL, WELL HERE I GO AGAIN AND SO DO THE POUNDS! BE GONE YOU DRASTIT POUNDS! BE GONE WITH YOURSELF~I HAVE GOALS SET AND GOALS TO MEET~ AND I WILL MEET THEM!   I KNOW IN MY HEART THAT NOTHING IS WRONG, ALL IS RIGHT IN MY WORLD RIGHT NOW, JUST A LITTLE STRESS, NOTHING GOD CAN'T TAKE CARE OF! Valentines~Three Weeks Away from Sexy?

Just three weeks away from Valentines day 2010!   I really wanted to look good at Christmas, and I guess I did, but not good enough for that Sexy Red Dress yet!   Now I have set a challenge for myself to get into something red and sexy for my husband of 30 years for Valentines Day 2010!   I have been working out at the Gym since two months after my surgery (7-20-2009) and I am firming up a lot! Actually gained inches this past month, but lost weight too.   It has been many Valentines since we married in March of 1979. But I remember the first Valentines Day we were together just like yesterday and exactly what he bought me.   So this year "I" am going to give the special gift to him. "Me" wrapped up in Red!   I got the sweetest compliment from my husband, "he told me he could love me for a lot longer, now that I have had the band, I would be around and healthy for a long time!" I was fishing for a compliment and I got WOWED! I never thought he felt like because I was FAT that I would not live as long as he did, and he feared losing me. What a revelation! But so true, because of all the co-morbidities associated with obesity! I looked at photos tonight from last July 4, and July 12th, 2009 before being banded on July 29th, 2009. I looked so miserable and my face was so red and I could not stand the heat. That is just not the person I am 5 and 1/2 months later, post band. My God how humbled and grateful I am for the LAP-BAND® Surgery and the knowledge and experience I have gained from having it.   My life will truly never be the same. Thanks to all you who post and blog! I love knowing I have your support and understanding as I travel through this life changing and life sustaining journey!

Walking Advertisement?

When we do well, we can help others! We are a walking advertisement for the LapBand. Had a great meeting today with the hospital Executive Assistant Director, My Doctor, the Allergan LapBand Representative, the OR Staff and the Staff of the Doctor. Learned so many things about the LapBand, and how I am going to be the chosen "Patient" to help further the progress of the LapBand and the future of its success in my area. Feeling very proud that I have done well. Found out that in America this year, the LapBand surgery surpassed the Gastric Bypass and is increasing in popularity! How wonderful to have this hidden tool to help us lose and keep the weight off that had caused us problems in the past associated with obesity. I love my BAND and I am so happy to be off diet pills that made my heart palpitate! I can sleep soundly at night, and get rested for my job the next day! My doctor is the best, really cares and great followup! It makes me want to turn back the hands of time, do it sooner, what I could have enjoyed that I have passed on. Oh well, look out world, I may be one of those sky divin grannies at 80!

Anyone ever done this?

:blush:ME A STAR? I CAN HARDLY BELIEVE THAT I WILL GET THE OPPORTUNITY ON MON. JAN. 18TH, 2010 TO MEET WITH MY DOCTOR, THE HOSPITAL ASSISTANT DIRECTOR AND THE ALERGAN REPRESENTIVE (MAKER OF THE LAPBAND)!!! THEY ARE ASKING ME TO BE AT THIS MEETING. THEY HAVE INDICATED THAT I CAN HELP MY DR. BY DOING SOME LOCAL TALK SHOWS WITH HIM. THEY ARE USING MY BEFORE AND DURING PHOTOS IN THE PRESENTATIONS AND SEMINARS NOW. I REALLY FEEL LIKE I HAVE GOT TO GET ON THE BALL AND GET TO LOSING THIS WEIGHT AND FAST! DON'T YOU LOOK TEN POUNDS HEAVIER WHEN YOU ARE ON TV? HAS ANYONE ELSE EVER DONE THIS? I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR BACK FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE.:cursing:

Listening to your INNER Voices

Tonight is the health and wellness class that I teach, and the Subject is"Listening to your Inner Voices" Good and evil, the voices do speak to us every day, when we listen, we hear both, it is what we do, the decision we make that gets us where we are going. Listen to your Inner Voices, learn to "Talk Back" to them, put them in their place! The voices always come to me before making good food choices. I always want the high calorie choices, it is only natural since those foods taste sinfully delicious. But what a poor result, a weight gain, not a weight loss. What do we want? LOSS So listen to your inner voices and have victory over them.:w00t:

Onederland is MINE

ONEderland is MINE! I woke up this morning around 5:30 am and it was COLD in the house. We have been experiencing colder than normal temps last few days, so I go pee, then pass by the scales, and I weigh myself, 201.8!!! OH NO! I was only 200.8 last night, how could that be? Maybe the housecoat and flannel pj's. So I head back to bed. I did not get up and get a shower until 9:30 AM then in the Nude, I weighed on those dreaded scales again. 199.6! I was so happy I was screaming where is my camera? Now I am in the NUDE and my poor husband doe's not have a clue, but gets the camera for me, it is a very small camera. I take the photo and the scale reads 199.8! Just as I had dreamed it the night before and posted the dream on my blog. I took a photo! So don't give up and remember Dreams REALLY Do Come True!:)

janetsjourneytoslim

Why is getting to ONEderland SO Important?

Onderland! I can almost see it! I have not been below 200 lbs in over 15 years! I weighed in at 200.8 this morning and I am SO CLOSE! I dreamed last night that I would weigh 199.8 today! Because I want it so bad? I think this is a milestone for most of us and it will certainly get me out of a slump I have been in tossing a lb or 2 around for a few weeks, so I am gonna PUSH like the dickens to get under 200! That will catapult me to get with this program and take off another 10 lbs or so! I just bought a lot of new clothes (had to!) and my husband has no where to hang his now. But I HAVE to keep the ones I am in now and I HAVE to shop for some I can wear in a month or so! LOL I like having these problems, but I never buy anything that fits, and getting lots of cute stuff, so that makes me work harder to get there and get into those new clothes! Got into a 14 jeans yesterday, but I did keep a pair of my 24-26 W to compare too! Wow I was FAT! Just five months ago! I still feel FAT, and I will be glad when my mind changes with my body. I still go to the Plus Sz section in a store and browse, then work my way over to womens, old habits die hard! LOL My daughters in their 20's want to dress me in YOUNGER lookin clothing, I MAY just let them! Have a ONDerful day and if you are not there, Good Luck in getting to ONEderland with me!

Less and Less CC's in my Band on Fill Days!

I could not understand why my CC's got less and less. I WANTED more and more, because I thought that is what gave me restriction. Well I found out the very interesting facts about the fills today when I went in for my Fourth Fill! You need more CC's when you are streaching out the stomach more! If you are staying on program, and eating like you should. (And thank god I haven't cheated that much) Then you require less CC's to get the same restriction as you had in the beginning. I have a 10CC band and I am at 5.7CC's I hope that I can get another 50 lbs off by July 2010! I will be setting some small goals, and breaking them down through time in order to get there! Going to change my eating plan a little, and start adding foods that are a little higher carbs, but in very small quantities! I want to be able to eat like REAL Normal people and still lose weight. Then when I get to goal weight I will just maintain, by increasing the caloric intake a little and watching it! I felt better after talking with my Dr. and his nurse today! I am getting slim~~~Thanks to Dr. Tim! (and the LapBand)
