About this blog

The weight is almost over . . .

Okay, so I have been working out at the gym everyday. I feel so good about myself that I am actually doing this and making an effort to lose weight.   On to the crazy part.   I am trying, (note I said trying and not DOING) to do the Couch to 5K Program. Today was my first day and I feel like I am going to die.   Literally, my body would welcome death right now! The program starts you off with a 5 minute warm up walk, then you run 60 seconds, walk briskly for 90 seconds, run for 60, you
It was great while it lasted, almost a week! Since I canceled my Fill this week, my next one is July 9th. It seems really far away. But, I am resolved to workout more. I already go to the gym for 45 minutes a day 6-7 days a week. So, I figure I will try to increase that to an hour and half. Since I have such a hard time restricting myself to lower calories, I figure I will workout more.   The strange thing, I have never exercised in my entire life. I had childhood asthma really bad an
When I get worried that I am not losing very much weight, losing too slow, or that I can't see a difference in the mirror, I get dressed in an outfit that I couldn't wear a few months ago. Take a few pictures and compare. It really helps to see them side by side to see a difference. I encourage EVERYONE to take lots of pictures before banding so that you have great pics to compare with.   Take pictures every few weeks. It is kinda like a picture journal.   Some of these pictures are ju
Okay, so today I decided to dye my hair really dark. My mom has given me an incentive to lose weight, when I first got the band, she said when I lost 50lbs, she would take me to my favorite salon, have my hair cut, dyed and styled on one condition. That I go blonde. Who can turn down a 200$ hair change? I know I sure can't. I absolutely love to have my hair done. So, I decided since I still have 23lbs to go, I would go really dark for now, so the contrast is greater.   I am including 2
Well, as those that follow my blog know, I have had fill after fill and no restriction. My last fill was May 29th and nothing. UNTIL . . . last Friday. Normally, I feel a little restriction first thing in the morning, not enough to stop me from eating, but some. Then nada the rest of the day. So, normal day, I had spicy V-8 juice for breakfast, went to the gym with a friend. Afterwards we decided to go for Mexican Food. So, I ordered Grilled Chicken Nachos. Now, a week ago, I could have
I never realized how much I eat when I am bored. I only get bored in the evening. I need to find something to occupy my time. I am trying to workout in the evening, but sometimes it is just so much easier to do in the mornings.   I work from home, so I am always here and always 5 steps from the fridge. HOWEVER, I am fine during the day. But man oh man, when the evening gets here, I find myself standing in the kitchen just looking for things to eat and of course they are never good. Tha
I have had 4 fills and still have no restriction. Up until a month ago, I was doing really well. Eating all the right things (in the right amounts). I started working out. I go EVERY day - and for 3 weeks, nothing, I didn't lose 1 lb. I got discouraged and started eating more - and now I just can't seem to stop.   I have an appointment for my 5th fill on the 25th of this month. I can feel some restriction in the morning - but by lunch, it is if I have no band at all. I am starting to ge
I had my 4th fill yesterday, I now have 2.6 in a 4 CC band. I don't know if I have any restriction because I am on liquids, but I sure hope I do. I can't wait to join the ranks of the restricted!   My Dr. now requires a Barium swallow before each fill. A lot of people are throwing a fit and not going. There is a $50.00 fee for the Barium Swallow and I think that is pretty fair. I know I would rather be on the safe side and make sure there are no problems before he makes me tighter. I rea
He all, sorry it has been so long since my latest post, I went to National's last week in Oklahoma and had so much fun!   I entered Piper (the diva in my avatar) in the Best of Breed Ring. This competition is only for dogs that already have their Championship, and the Winners for the day, there were over 50 of us. WE WERE THE ONLY CHOCOLATE!!! They had to bring us into the ring in small groups to narrow down the selection because there were so many of us. We made the CUT! I was just thr
I have been planning and packing and giddy with excitement. Amy, one of my Dog Show buddies will be here this evening with Keela, her show dog. We will be driving out tomorrow morning - at the butt crack of dawn. :-) Headed to Oklahoma City and the Miniature Pinscher National Show.   Piper is so excited, she knows something is going on she just doesn't know what. She sees me getting all of her show gear out - but she hasn't been groomed yet - so she is a bit confused.   We are staying
Okay, so I am dealing with blisters on my heels for the first time I can remember. (I wasn't too active up to this point). I joined the gym and am having a blast until the dreaded Blister.   First, let me introduce you to the cause of the problem. My new shoes (which I really liked before they decided to rub me the wrong way - hehe).   They are from New Balance and are actually pretty comfy. I paid $35.00 for them at TJ MAX. I am not going to hold this against them for long - everyone n
This has nothing to do with being banded, but last night my hubby and I took my mom to Barnes and Nobles to a book signing with Laura and Jenna Bush (we are total Republican Dorks). We originally only got 2 wrist bands to enter and them my mom found out and wanted to go, so I gave her my wrist band. So, I was going just to watch and take pictures. Some NICE lady gave me a band when I got there - so I got to go in. We stood in line forever and finally got up there. They were so nice and SO b
I am so stinking proud of myself I can't stand it! I am now a member of Gold's Gym. I started going last week with my girlfriend (had a free week going with her) However, she could only go twice - so after much complaining, the hubby said to do it.   I did. I talked them into only a 1 year contract. Currently they only do 2 year contracts at 19.99 a month. Well, there is no way I am going to commit to a 2 year contract. This is my first time to ever be a gym rat, and who knows how long
Okay, so I went to the Gym with my BFF tonight and it felt really good. I did the bike for a while, then the treadmill for 20 minutes (a little over a mile), then some arm thingy. (Can you tell I am NOT a gym rat?)   I am already a bit sore, I guess I shall see how I feel tomorrow. I may be pissed at the world - and mad at Molly for inviting me. Oh what tomorrow brings.
I woke up this morning to a total loss of 20lbs! I am so excited, this was a mini-goal of mine. I can't wait to get some restriction - I thought I had some with my last fill, but now I am thinking I don't. Hopefully when I get some, I won't have to try so hard.   I am counting calories (every single solitary calorie), exercising and keeping a 1000 calorie a day deficit (THANKS to my BodyBugg). It would be SO nice to get really full when I eat and to not be hungry again in a couple of hou
Yesterday was beautiful, bright and sunny with a nice breeze. We, hubby, myself, my nephew Josh and his girlfriend Kristen all headed out to the opening weekend of the Crawfish Festival.   Now, I had a fill a few days ago so I am on liquids and couldn't partake in the yummies that everyone else did. However, I did suck on a piece of grilled Chicken. Yumm!   We really enjoyed the festivities - we even talked Kristen into riding a mechanical bull - she did really well. We all got a bit
Okay, I had a fill yesterday, so I was on liquids all day yesterday, today and for the next 2 days. I am so hungry I can't think straight. It has to be my head - I have had like 800 calories with Slim Fasts, strained soups, milk, etc. So, I know I am not starving.   I was reading some of the forums and could hear a commercial on the TV and thought wow, that sounds so good . . . fresh Tuna, whitefish, herbs - it was a damn Cat Food Commercial. Ugh! My head isn't functioning right.   Of
Well, I went in today and had my 3rd fill. I was at 2 and he put in .6 or maybe .4, I can't really remember. It didn't hurt as bad - he didn't have to press down as hard to reach my port. He says he can tell I am losing weight! WooHOO!   His office is expanding, and coming to The Woodlands (which is right by me). I am so excited. Apparently, they are hiring additional Dr.s too. He is so busy. I sent in my resume for his new office near me. It won't be up and running for about 4 mont
Well, I did it, I drove over an hour each way so that I could attend one of the support groups at my Dr.s office. It wasn't bad. Dr. Spiegel was there answering questions - but all of the questions were things that you can learn here on lapbandtalk. I was one of the newer people with the band and I really felt like I could answer all of their questions.   I think I will try his support group at University General - they have guest speakers and cool topics. I really want to learn something
Things are going great, I got my BodyBugg Last week and lost 2 lbs! It really helps me to be able to see what is happening with my body. I have my second and last coaching session tomorrow - hopefully I will learn all that I need to for my new Bugg.   I have another fill this Thursday and I am really looking forward to that. I really think I am getting close to real restriction. As of this morning, I have lost 18lbs and couldn't be happier. I just really can't believe it. I am eating h
Okay, so I am in love with my BodyBugg. I started the program on Monday, had my coaching session this morning with Coach Tamala and I LOVE it! I am having over 1000 calorie deficit a day and I am not working out like I thought I would have to. It is amazing how many calories you burn just doing household chores.   Other positive, it motivates me to do more Household chores! lol, my house is cleaner than ever. What am I going to do now? Hmm, shopping burns a lot of calories too.   I
Okay, so I am so freakin excited I can't stand it. I got a BodyBugg! If you don't know what one is, here is the website: http://www.bodybugg.com/   There is a wonderful Thread on here about BodyBugg and it is 60 pages long - I have read every page. I knew I wanted one, but also knew we couldn't afford 400 dollars. HOWEVER   I found one on Craigslist - the lady bought it from her personal trainer at 24 hour fitness. Well, her trainer must have held her head underwater and forced her to!
Yesterday, I had my second fill. (Thank God for the cancellation!) It wasn't as bad as the first time, I guess because I knew what was coming. He looked at my chart and asked me if I wanted him to use a larger needle or stick with the smallest. Chicken Little, of course said stay with the little needle. The prick doesn't hurt, but since my port is deep and he has to press down to reach it, that burns a little, but not enough for me to want him to go larger :-)   I am on liquids again, and
