Week 23...First Goal Met!.....80lbs Gone!...

People, people, people.....TODAY IS A FANTASTIC DAY!   Even though it's snowing outside and more bad weather is coming to Denver, I feel like the sun is shining directly on me!   Today when I stepped on the scale the number 200 was looking right at me! :w00t:What is it about that number? When you are going up the scale it's a number of doom and gloom, however when you are coming down on the scale it looks like a gold coin!   I could not have done this without my band. I have not been 200 in over nine years, and when I hit it the last time it was my stale point. I never got below it and then I went right back up. Before that I was not 200 in YEARS!   I have 35lbs to goal. I would like to be 165-170. For the first time in my life I really and truly feel like that goal can be reached. I think I was in High School the last time I weighed that and I am now 39!   We are going to Hawaii for Christmas Vacation and I think this calls for a new bathing suit.   Even with the bumps in the road for the past couple of weeks, I now see a light at the end of the tunnel.   I cleaned out my closets this weekend of everything that did not fit anymore. Check out how my closet looks now, I've attached a photo for you!   HEE HEE! It may not be the best photo but you get the point!   I actually called my husband into the room with me to make him look at the scale! I wanted to make sure I was not dreaming!   Life is good!!!!! I am happy!!!! I am no longer the fat girl with the pretty face! I can't tell you how much I hated hearing that!   I AM BLESSED!:crying:

Week 25...Early Six Months Checkup Status

Hello Beloveds! Today I went in for my six months check up. My doctor said I am a superstar! I am above average for weight loss and all my bloodwork is right on target. I am healthy and most of all happy!   Today I went to get gas from a station I visit weekly. When I got to the window the lady looked real hard at me and said...you are Laura, Right? I said yes, you know me. She said NO I DID NOT! You look fantastic. For the last couple of weeks it's been cold here so I was wearing one of my older (too big) coats when pumping. Today was warm so she got to see me in regular clothes! I felt fantastic! How wonderful is that progress?   I promised I would report to you how my Colonic went last week. I know it sounds gross but it's really not. After my colonic I felt lighter and less bogged down. What I learned is it is best to have them in 3. So I go in for my 2nd one this Friday and then my last one for the season before thanksgiving. It was worth it for me.   For the first time in YEARS I shopped on the normal side of the clothing store. Need I say more?   I am wearing heels now! I would not touch them when I was 280lbs! Now I can wear them and wear them all day with no issues!   My surgery was May 21st, 2009 and I am proud of myself for using this tool to it's fullest advantage!   I am now 195lbs and have lost 85lbs! My goal 165-170lbs   LOVING LIFE AND MYSELF!

Week 21 Post-Op....My First Real Bad Week...

Ever since last week when I had to get an unfill due to being stuck, I have been struggling!   What's surprising me is that I have never had a bad week since I was banded. (May 21, 2009)   I went from 5.9cc's to 4.9cc's and I am hungry! I have not been eating the best this week and I have not been able to exercise due to work. I am a Realtor and I have about five buyers looking at homes before the tax credit ends. My days have been non-stop. 6am-9pm most days.   I am trying not to beat myself up but I have been doing so well that this week is freaking me out. I am so close to being under 200. Just six more pounds.   I am afraid to weigh myself! I don't think I will this week. I just can't face that scale saying I stayed the same or I weigh a little more.   I had to sit back and wonder if i am doing myself in. In the past I have gotten down to 200 before and somehow never went any further. I tried to sit and think over why this is, but I never can figure it out.   Maybe I am just thinking too much. I mean I did not mean to get stuck last week. It was not done on purpose and life happens.   I have got to get back on track. I go back for my refill next Wednesday. It just can't come soon enough.   I know I am always upbeat on here but I have to let you all know that sometimes you hit a bump in the road. I guess mine was this week.   I have already started planning my week next week. I have blocked out my time for me. Started to schedule clients around my time and started my weekly food plan. I will not let this get the best of me or set me back!   Ladies...it's also been that time of the month so I am sure my hormones have run amock!   I feel some tears coming on. Why now? Can't I just get closer to goal before these ghosts and issues start coming up.   *Sigh*

Week 24....Finally in Onederland

Oh JOY JOY JOY! Today you are reading a blog of a woman who is finally under 200lbs! I have lost 3 more pounds for a grand total of 83lbs in less than six months.   I feel so much better! Happier, lighter, THINNER!   This week I took all of my old clothes to consignment! It was about 50 items! I took two full bags to Goodwill and two other bags to a friend who needed some new clothes in my old size! My closet is BARE! OH JOY...guys....no joke, there are tears in my eyes right now. I am so very very blessed!:smile2:   So...since I have lost so much weight, my winter coats are WAY too big, so I purchased a new one this week. It is not a size XXXL, XXL or even a XL....It is a size "L" (see photo)   Yesterday I had to have my blood drawn for my six months check up. So next week I will have a report for you on how all that works out.   Ok...so some of you may cringe at this and some may crack up but I am going to have my first colonic this weekend. I feel like since my body has changed so much I'd like to clean the inside out as well. My sister calls it getting my chitterlings cleaned. (HA!) I have heard good things about having a colonic, in fact I starting thinking about it two years ago but just never acted on it. I'll give a crazy update on that next week too! :frown:   I did have something interestng happen this week. People I work with and see pretty much everyday, looked at me and said...OMG...it looks like you shrank overnight, we can really tell now. It's so strange how the body works sometimes. My collarbones stand out and I have a waist.   Some days I wake up and I can swear I've lost a pound overnight. I always feel it in my hips. My pj's feel loose. Weird but I LOVE IT!   So now that I am getting close to goal, I've finally starting adding pasta, bread and rice SLOWLY back into my diet. And by slowly I mean only one day a week. This week I added bread, so on Sunday I had a slice of pizza for the football game. It was yummy and it did not give me any troubles. I have to say that one piece was about all I could handle and it took me 20 minutes to eat that but I was satisfied. In the older days before my band, I'd taste that pizza and want to eat the whole thing, but not this time ladies and gentleman, I was very satisified!   So my Lapband Family that is my journey for this week. I'll check in soon!

17 Months and Reflections

Hard to believe I am sitting here thinking over how far I've come!   When I started this journey I was 280lbs and being thin and healthy seemed so much of a dream. In fact it was a dream I held so many years that I was starting to dis-belive it.   I was always the chubby girl, the "cute in the face" girl who never got asked on dates....I don't have to say it all over again, majority of you know exactly where I am coming from.   Now I sit at my desk at about 160. (I flux between 155-165) and I am in a size 10 jean and a medium shirt. Something I just could not really see.   Life is good and I am blessed.   I enjoy my days so much more. I have become a true girly girl. Love the hair, nails, clothes and SHOES! Ha!   Without my LAP-BAND® (her name is Lilith) I would not have been able to enjoy this feeling of "LOVING MYSELF". Now my problem is...stopping myself from thinking I am TOO CUTE! But I allow myself that guilty pleasure for a while!   That person looking back at me in the mirror is who I knew was inside and I am so glad to get to know her.   I would not change the world for my journey and I would do it over in less than a heartbeat.   I was self pay and I'd pick up pennies again to do it all over if I had to.   I may now be looking at a tummy tuck. Not sure but I feel it tugging and I need to have that gone, but I will cross that bridge when I can get to it.   For now...I am grateful!

Week 40...I Got A New Attitude & New Pics Too!

What a wonderful ride this week has been! On Tuesday we had a great performance and I got a few new pics of me singing!   Then I had a whole new photo shoot! I have never felt so beautiful in all my damn life. For once I felt like the person I always wanted to emerge. She is here....oh yes she is!   I had a wonderful photographer and she made me so comfortable in front of the camera.   What a wonderful new life this is.   I turn 40 this week! I feel better than I did when I was 20!   I am going to have a party on Friday with all my girlfriends. We are going to take a Salsa class and then dance the night away and I am going to make a poster of all my new photos so share with everyone!   Happy Birthday To Me!   Come share in my joy! http://www.lapbandtalk.com/members/57955-albums5264.html     Why not go out on a limb? 16 Weeks Post-Op...Loving Life...Need to go shopping!

I have tried on EVERYTHING in my closet. I have a wonderful dilemma....NOTHING FITS! All my dresses hang funny, my jeans are baggy and my shirts are falling off the shoulders! I have had to buy new underwear and bras to boot. Right now they just have to make due because I am not buying many clothes only to wear them for a few weeks then get more. The thrift shops are good and I have been hitting those up and I have a friend who is size 16 that has given me a lot of things to tide me over. I am taking all the TOO BIG stuff to the consignment shop so I can finance my new wardrobe! I have dropped another five pounds for a grand total of 65 pounds in 16 weeks! I added weights to my exercise routine this week and I am sure my body will sculpt up pretty nicely as long as I keep it up. But who wants to turn back now! By Christmas I could be in UNDERLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Life is good. I am at my sweet spot and everyday I have people seeing what wonderful results I have accomplished. Yes...I ACCOMPLISHED....don't let anyone tell you this is the easy way out. It is NOT. I do what I am suppose to...eat right and exercise. I just have a tool that assists me in the process. Easy way out my foot!!!!!!! I have a very supportive sister who I adore. I am almost at her weight and I think it's freaked her out a bit. She's not the jealous type but in about four more pounds I am going to be her weight and I think that makes her a little sad. You see...I was ALWAYS the heaviest sister. I can hear it in her voice but she still is so supportive, loving and kind. It was just sad to hear that little twinge in her voice when I told her I am down to 215. I feel good...I feel like shouting it from the roofs. There is a little pep to my step and a sway in the hips. This caterpillar is developing her wings and will be breaking out of her cocoon soon! I am BLESSED ya'll..... BLESSED!!!!!!!!!!!!

Week 38...GOAL...115lbs Lost

Well....my day is here! As of this morning...I have hit my goal weight of 165lbs!   I knew this day would come but until you actually see it, you just don't believe it!   Funny, I thought I'd be jumping up and down and screaming over it, but I am pretty calm about it and happy as a lark.   I had to go for a tad bit of unfill yesterday. I am down to 5.2cc's. My body is adjusting a bit and I may have to go in again for another tweak by getting more taken out so I can maintain.   It's amazing to me that I don't need as much fill as others. I mean I just assumed we all were pretty much on the same with that but not needing much more than 5cc's is amazing to me.   Anything too much over 5.4cc and I get stuck and throw up in my sleep. Which is NOT a pleasant feeling at all. It's scary because I think, what if I don't wake up and I choke?!   So now, the major question is....do I need to lose more or should I be happy with what I am now? My initial goal was 170 but then I thought 165 would be better for BMI purposes. Now I am not really sure if I want to stop. What about 160? Plan for the monthly weight gain, blah, blah, blah. Am I turning into one of those skinny bitties who obsesses over the scale!   There are some places I feel need to get a little thinner but I am not sure if it's because they are not quite as toned as I want them to be or if it's really just a tad bit flabby.   Everyone knows from previous posts I am not exactly happy with where my tummy is but I want to give it a full year before considering anything else.   I tried on a size 10 and danced all around the dressing room when they fit. I am thrilled with that....so what is it in me right now that wants more? I am going to have to meditate on that. I mean, I don't want to look sickly! Shape and curves are good. RIGHT???? I am feeling really silly right now...why am I not as happy as I thought I would be?   On a different note...my doc left the office where he was. He is on an extended vacation right now and when he comes back he will decide where he will be. Not sure how I feel about that. I love him but I love my nurses too. I bet my main nurse will go with him and if that happens I will move my files with him. Didn't see that coming!   As always....I AM BLESSED!     Why not go out on a limb? Isn't that where the fruit is?:cursing:   Surgery Date: May 21, 2009 Starting Weight: 280lbs Dr. Michael Metz - St. Luke's Hospital Denver, CO:thumbup: Follow my progress thru photos: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/members/5...lbums3475.html

My First Performance Where I Loved The Way I Looked....

I had to share this with you all. After all you all have been a huge part of my journey.   My husband and I performed at the Orion Music Festival in Utah in January 2010. We were featured on the TV show in Park City.   For the first time in my life, I was happy with the way I looked. Look! I have a waist! You have to remember just the year before I refused to take photos with the band because of my weight!   I hope you enjoy! Ain't no stopping me now! It's a YouTube video.     Why not go out on a limb? Isn't that where the fruit is?   Surgery Date: May 21, 2009 Starting Weight: 280lbs Dr. Michael Metz - St. Luke's Hospital Denver, CO:thumbup: Follow my progress thru photos: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/members/5...lbums3475.html

17 Weeks Post Op...Progress

Hi Family!   Today is my 17 week post-op date.   As I sit and reflect on my progress I can't help but to be grateful. As I see the numbers go down on the scale, I know it will be the last time I see those numbers as long as I continue to do what I need to do. Eat right, exercise, take care of myself.   I always heard people say...the band is a tool. Now I can really and truly say I understand that. It is not a miracle worker, an overnight fixer, a cure-all.   You MUST....can't stress that enough....YOU MUST be ready for this in the head. If you are not you are setting yourself up for a huge disappointment.   I was ready....I do my work...I am within reach of my goal.   I have to share some things in case someone else has these issues. For the first time in my life, I had some strange things go on with my period. My last period was for 10 days and then within 12 days I had another period. I went to my doctor and they don't think it's serious but blood work was performed to be sure. Losing weight so fast can cause other things to go out of whack. I just want to share this with you because it's important to know your body will be a little confused with itself sometimes. (sorry fella's guess you did not really need to hear that but my ladies did)   We are amazing and wonderful creatures. The body is fabulous and can bounce back from anything, just take care of it because you only have one.   Also, the mood adjustment has been CRAZY! :tongue_smilie: One minute I will be on cloud nine, then something simple will just tick me off to no end. I'll stay mad for a little bit then I am back to being happy. There have been many "blah" days while on this journey. Sometimes I just don't know how to feel, then I am fine. Sometimes little things urk me, but I am over it in a heartbeat. Strange....yes I know....but you have to remember my body is changing and changing fast. All this weight loss has to effect me somehow.   But overall...I am so happy I did this for myself. I wish I would have considered it earlier but maybe I was not ready for it earlier.   So I embrace it, learn from it and work my band like the wonderful tool it is.   I did not weigh this week. I don't weigh all the time. I do not choose to be a slave to that scale anymore. As long as I feel good, and my clothes are getting loose I am fine. I try to at least weigh once every two weeks just to make sure I am still on the journey line.   So that's it for today folks. I just have to advise you to love yourself and enjoy the journey.   It did not take just one night to become overweight and it will not take one night to lose it all. Be patient and loving to yourself and you will be within reach of your goal soon!

Week 19 Post Op...New Experiences...Laura Key

I took a mini-vacation this week with my husband. Went to Lake Navajo on the boarder of New Mexico and Colorado. How relaxing it was! I did not exercise this week -- I SLEPT! And with that being said....I still lost a pound. So now I am down 70lbs.   My jeans are loose again and I could not be happier.   I had some time to reflect on my journey and I have to say I am one happy woman. I really think I will be under 200 by the end of the year.   Had a little scare this week. Two nights in a row I threw up in my sleep. Scared the HELL out of me! I almost choked! But I was out of town and had no reception on the cell so I had to kinda sleep upright to get myself back together. I know from another bandster that throwing up in your sleep is not a good thing, so I just tried to relax until I got back into town.   I thought I was stuck but if I was I am not now. While on the road we stopped at a little roadside BBQ place. I got pulled pork but within five minutes it was coming back up! It was the first time I have had that happen. It wasn't bad, just freaky. So hubby ended up having my dinner and I relaxed my tummy! (giggle) I think if something was stuck, it came up because after that I was back to normal.   When I returned I went to the doctor but since I was feeling fine they decided to not do an unfill. So this weekend I reverted to soft foods to let my tummy heal.   My hubby took a lot of footage of our trip and for once in my life, I did not mind being in front of the camera. What a WONDERFUL feeling! Our band photographer wants to take photos just of me because in the past I would not go to the photo shoots. (yes I am a singer)   I am feeling so skinny and sexy! Let's just say I am putting a little pep back in my love life. Ooohh La La!   I am gathering all my clothes that are too big and getting ready for a trip to the consignment store. I gotta finance my new wardrobe somehow!   I am doing it ya'll ..... DOING IT!

Getting Unbanded! Never Thought I'd Be Here!

I am sad to report I will be unbanded asap. I was banded for a little over three years. I lost all my weight within 8 months. I was the happiest I have ever been in my life and then the problem started. Now what? How do I live my life unbanded? How do I get the band out since I was a self pay bander? With no insurance, that's almost impossible. How can something that was my intimate friend and helper become the enemy now?   Warning...I let the F-Bomb out one time guys, if that upsets you, please don't listen. This is pretty emotional to me and I let it slip.   My Video Diary Entry: http://youtu.be/vrPNTULVQOw     LapbandLaLa@gmail.com www.lapbandlala.wordpress.com

Week 20 Post-Op....Setback...Sigh!

This week brought on a new challenge! Had to have 1cc removed from my band. So now I am back to 4.9cc's in my 10cc band. My sweet spot is 5.9cc and I have established that pretty early. I am one of the lucky ones who don't really need too much in my band.   Well...here we go.   On Friday I had a Real Estate seminar I had to attend. It started at 9am and ended at 1pm. They served breakfast and I knew they had some things that were on my approved list. So I grabbed some soft scrambled eggs, a small piece of melon and a small piece of sausage.   There were people who have not seen me in over a year so many were shocked to see me 75lbs lighter. I was quite the buzz, I might say...giggle.   Well, I sat down, started to eat, chewed and chewed and chewed then BAM! I took a small bite of sausage, someone walked up behind me and said...OMG LAURA IS THAT YOU? It startled me and so immediately I swallowed!!!!!!!! HUGE HUGE MISTAKE!   I knew when that bite went down I was doomed. I had not chewed that bite at all.   So as the seminar went on I got sick, sicker then OMG  I was throwing up every 15 minutes...just slime.   After the seminar I called my doctor immediately and they had me come in. At every single stoplight I prayed it would turn red so I could lean my head out the door and toss my cookies! Oh...and the pain...it was horrible and hurt so bad. I was praying, crying, driving and throwing up.   So I walked into the doctors office and they did not wait...I was ushered into a room and they unfilled me immediately. OH WHAT A RELIEF! Thank God!   So now, they want me to to stay at my 4.9cc's until two more weeks because I was throwing up so much I had to have irritated my tummy!   Five more pounds and I will be 200lbs. I can almost taste it, but with the unfill I don't have much restriction. :mad2: I may be able to keep my portions in check but I dread feeling hungry between meals. So I am a bit sad.   I know in the scheme of things this is not a HUGE issue but being so close to onederland/underland is so exciting and I did not want to slow this down.   So right now....liquids for another day then soft foods for three days, then a refill in two weeks. *SIGH*   I have to say....if I had to choose between losing slower and being stuck...well I'd take the losing slower.   Thank GOD that is over. I wish that on nobody!   So there is my crazy story! Until next time.

Week 37....Scale Moving...110lbs Gone

(Jan 30, 2010) Well, this past week was very uneventful. I did lose the water weight and two more pounds. So I have lost 110lbs now and only five more to goal!   I am a bit concerned about my band. Seems like I can't keep much down but I don't get sick off of everything.   I think I am just re-adjusting again. I use to be able to eat salmon earlier on in my process but now, it just sits there like a ball of coal. I'd like to eat more fish since it's good for me. Tomorrow I am going to try and make a Tuna Casserole.   I'm not so sure it's the food, maybe my eyes are bigger than my tummy again. I hate to waste! I am not a big person for left-overs. Thank goodness I got a hubby who usually eats everything I don't. I don't know why I hate re-heated food. I am OK with things like Veggie Soup and Chili, all the stuff seems to taste better the next day anyway but anything else....no thanks.   Also, I am having trouble getting all my water in each day. I am no where NEAR the intake I should be taking in.   Are there any good cookbooks for one or two people out there?   I got an email from my doctors office this past week. They have been going through files and picking out the most successful people and they are starting a photo board. They would like me to submit some photos! I was honored!   I turn 40 Feb. 23rd and so I planned a photo shoot on Feb. 19th! I am so excited about it too. I have been looking at new clothes and hairstyles and everything. It will be so much fun! I can't wait. I'll share of course.   Ok, so I have something funny. I have NO BUTT! I need some padding back there. We went out to eat and those darned seats were killing me. I was squirming in that chair. The things you did not know before you sure know after! HEE HEE!   Ok, I know you guys heard me say this before but I am not very happy about how my tummy is shaping up. It feels so weird. I am not sure it will firm up right. I am going to give it a good whole year of working and toning it as much as possible, but I don't think I will be able to really rule out a tummy tuck. I just really don't want more surgery. I've never been a surgery person and I've only had two in my life with the lapband being one. I'd love to hear from others who have something to say on this. If you've had surgery I want to hear from you and if you've not had surgery what did you do to firm it up.   So....just five more pounds people. I can do this!   Always....I am blessed!   Follow my progress: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/members/57955-albums3475.html   Starting Weight: 280lbs Surgery Date: May 21, 2010 Dr. M. 14 months Post-Op....Laura Key

Bet you guys thought I abandoned you? NAH...I am a Realtor and let's just say...things have not been so fun for a while and I have been working so hard and concentrating on my business I have not had much time to do anything else.   So, for now I will just give you a short update.   I am steady at 155lbs. Anything less and I look sickly. My goal was 170lbs but my body settled at 155lbs so I am happy with that!   I have lost a total of 125lbs.   My year anniversary was May 21, 2010!   I am a size 10 but I am being told some of my jeans look baggy so I plan to go try on some size 8's? REALLY...I think I will pass out if I get some of them to fit! HA   I am wearing strapless dresses! Something I thought I'd never be able to do and even though I have a little flab. I don't care!   I am at my sweet spot. I have 4cc's in my band. Anything more and I get sick real easy.   I love my new body!   I still have a hard time getting in exercise but I work hard at it.   I still do what I am suppose to do to be successful. No soda, no junk, no slider foods.   I have trouble with some foods. Lilith (my band) does not like chicken wings (baked or anything else) She had a bit of a time with some fish and my steaks have to be medium rare. I can eat almost anything else.   So...that's it in a nutshell! I am hoping to get active on here again. PRAY that things turn around!!!!!!!! The Amazing Body....14 Weeks Post Op....Laura Key

How amazing is this new body of mine? I lost an additional 5 pounds this past week. I am moving like never before, enjoying my new body and the new clothes that come with it!   I am sleeping better, walking better, and breathing better!   I currently have 5.9cc's in my band. I am at my sweet spot! I just can't say it enough.....I am one happy lady.   I have to say the emotional part has been a journey as well. Some days I feel invincible, others a bit scared. As I am shedding these pounds other things come up that I have to tackle. But I am taking it one day at a time and that's fine by me.   I seem to have the most trouble with breakfast. I tend to be tight in the mornings. It was suggested to drink some warm tea 30 minutes before breakfast. I do that sometimes, other times I just eat what I can then move forward.   I am starting to wonder if I will have a lot of loose skin. I seem to be dropping so fast. I exercise five days a week but I really need to add weights. I just hate that part. I could do cardio all day. I do like my Wii Fit so I am trying to include that in my workouts at least twice a week to start. Boy were my thighs sore that first workout! Whew! As far as I am concerned that Wii was a good investment toward my health. (wonder if you could write that off toward health expenses!)   All in all, I am still happy and wish I would have done this sooner!

Week 48....Worst Trip Ever & Sickness

(April 10, 2010) Back from Italy. What a horrible, horrible trip it was. 17 Days of pure hell! I am sure some will beg to differ but I did not enjoy the food at all. Pasta, bread, pizza EVERY DAY!!!! It's all so bland and so blah! Every shop is stuff we all should really avoid. I pretty much given up all that stuff and then I get there and it's all there was to offer. Every other shop is a restaurant, but they all have the same menu with the same stuff. UGH!!! There were a couple of nights we found other types of places and believe me...I was never so happy to see Mexican and Irish Pubs!!!! If I see another piece of bread or pasta I am going to scream. My husband felt the same way so I know I am not over reacting! Also they charge for water and you better let them know if you just want plain water because sparkling water is HUGE!!!!! Even over there they trip when you tell them you do not wish to have a drink with your meal.   Then we were robbed in France!!!! They took everything! Watched us close then in just 20 short little minutes, broke into the car, yanked the whole set of luggage, computers, ipods, dirty clothes and all!!!! So a full afternoon was spent at the French police station! Try making a police report in different languages! We were reduced to drawing photos! Thank GOD they did not get our passports or money, but I was left with the clothes on my back. For some reason my husband had put his dirty clothes in a different bag and put it behind the driver’s seat. Mine were in a different compartment in my luggage. So he had three outfits and me....NOTHING BUT WHAT I HAD ON!!!!   So, you would think since I have lost 125lbs and now a size 10, I would not have trouble finding clothes! WRONG AGAIN my American friends! We are considered big!!!! So after about 40 stores I gave up. I had to wash my underwear in the sink every night and blow dry them with a dryer! After a few more days I was able to at least get more underwear. Every other day my husband had to leave me in the hotel room wrapped in a towel while he went to wash my clothes! I am going to burn them now; I never want to see that outfit again!   What's so bad is....all the clothes they took were NEW!!!!! Most less than a month old. I had two outfits that still had tags on them.   At this stage in my life...I have come to understand I AM AN AMERICAN GIRL and I can take or leave Europe. It's going to be a while before I want to ever go back over and explore.   Italy and France do not have 24 hour stores, no fast food, no variety, and no Wal-Mart!!!!!!!!!! (ha) I never thought I would miss any of those things until they were taken away. You do not appreciate what we have here in America until you start visiting the world. You would not believe how unimportant the Internet is to them....AGGGHHHHH!   Enough of that horrible story....onto the next thing.   So now we are back but within a day I caught the worse flu I have ever had. Fever, aches, nausea, you name it...I had it. And because of the nausea, I had to get totally unfilled. I have nothing in my band right now. I have lost more weight! I am down to 150. Today is the first day I have been well enough to even get out of bed.   The last month has been....well....is there really a good word other than HELLIASHOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Yes, we were blessed to not be harmed. For that I am grateful, and if anything it made hubby and me grow so much stronger. We really only had each other! Hey...ain't nothing like keeping a 6 year old from picking your husbands pocket on the metro! (Yes, that happened and I caught him!)   So now the journey begins to replace our stuff. We did have travel insurance and my advice to you if you travel is to do the same! It's worth it.   I know, I know...some will say...look forward to shopping...but you know what...it's something about having someone take all your stuff. It was yours, it was not theirs and the hassle of replacing it takes a lot of energy and time. Yes...I am still a bit bitter and it is going to take a while to get over it!   So...I guess I better end now or else I will just keep on and on and on.   Hope my next post will be a better one.   Why not go out on a limb? Isn't that where the fruit is?   Surgery Date: May 21, 2009 Starting Weight: 280lbs Dr. Michael Metz - St. Luke's Hospital Denver, CO:thumbup: Follow my progress thru photos: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/members/5...lbums3475

Week 26...Just 25lbs to Go

Hello Loved Ones!   This week I have had some joys and some tiny pains. I am now down to 190 and have only 25lbs to go! Feeling like a pretty little butterfly.   I have been adding new foods back into my diet slowly. Last week I tried a few bites of rice. OH BOY....THAT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN! I was sick, sick, sick! So I had to go back to liquids for a few days, then pureed for a few days and I was back on track.   I have support group tonight and I can't wait to go. I really love spending time with others who have been through this experience. Today we are all suppose to bring in a recipe then next month we will all get a fun little recipe book to take home for a Christmas present. Good idea! So since I am going to share my recipe for Atkins Chili with my support group I will share it with all of you as well! (see bottom)   This week, I had a hair makeover! I am very happy with how my hair turned out. We layered it, lightened it and straightened it! It's quite the change! New hair for a new me!   I really trip people out now! HA, love it!   One more trip to the Colonic Hydrotherapist! I am telling you people it makes a difference! I feel lighter and I feel more energy. May sound icky but it's worth a try!   You know...I want to thank all of you for being such a wonderful support tool. I have really made some wonderful friends on here and it has made this process one of personal growth. I really do love you all!   So I got all mushy on you, didn't I? Sorry.   Now....off to the store to find cute little items for my Hawaii trip. OH I CAN'T WAIT. (I wish we had a sexy little happy face to use here!)   Blessings!     Atkins Chili Recipe   • 1 Tablespoon olive oil • 1 large chopped onion • 6 large garlic cloves, minced • 2 medium jalapenos, minced • 2 lbs ground sirloin • 2-4 Tablespoons chili powder (adjust according to personal taste) • 1/2 teaspoon salt • pepper to taste • 1 16oz can diced tomatoes (make sure no sugar added) • 2 cups chicken broth (again no sugar added) Atkins Chili Recipe Directions   Heat oil in heavy saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onions and garlic. Saute about 8 minutes or until onions are translucent. Add ground sirloin and cook until brown, breaking up meat with a spatula as it cooks. Add chili powder, salt, pepper, and jalapenos to the meat and onions. Stir in died tomatoes and chicken broth. Reduce heat to low and simmer for at least 1 and a half hours. Note: Wear gloves to mince the jalapenos. If you want your Atkin's chili a bit spicy, then mince the seeds and membranes with your jalapenos. If you want your chili milder, then remove the seeds and membranes from the jalapenos. Note: Be sure to check that your spices, tomatoes, and broth don't contain added sugar. If they do, you will have to count them as part of your total carbohydrate intake for the day.

Week 22 Post-Op....Back in the Saddle

Finally! Yesterday I went back to my doctor for a refill. Two weeks of 4.9cc's is not working for me! I did not go back to 5.9cc's because I felt that was just too tight. I was not able to get in my water daily and I would throw up in my sleep sometimes. So I am at 5.6cc's currently.   Next month is my six months follow up so if I think 5.6cc's is just not enough then I will go to 5.8cc's.   For the past week and a half I have been sick. Terrible head cold which also caused me to lose my voice. I was not able to exercise at all! After getting into a routine after all these months, that made me feel crappy. I actually crave the movements now. That's a good thing....right?   So yesterday and today I was back on liquids. I have to say I am sick of soup. (giggle) I really need to get some more recipes to switch things up.   I did not gain any weight or lose any weight during my two week ordeal so I can't be upset. Lord knows the last thing I needed was a gain! I think I would have took a hammer to my scale if that would have happened. I am just five pounds from 200lbs and I want to reach that before my next doctor appointment, which is the week of Thanksgiving.   All in all it has been a pretty boring week because I was so sick.   I did discover that my band does not like Mahi Mahi much. So I will be staying away from that type of fish. Too dense I guess. One thing for sure....when you band doesn't like something...it will let you know!:huh2:   So ladies and gentleman, here I am....the Incredible Shrinking LaLa....Back in the saddle again!

Seven Weeks...STILL HAPPY

I am feeling better and better everyday. I look at myself and see the butterfly emerging. It's wonderful. My clothes fit better - I feel better and I am not shying away from the camera anymore.   I had a gig this week and I let the photographer snap away. What's funny is I know I am not where I want to be but I know it's coming. (see my attached photo from the gig)   Here's something to ponder......why is it when you are going up the scale you run from the camera? However....when you are going down it's the same number on the scale as when you go up but it's a totally different outlook? I remember hitting 250 going up and crying....now I see 250 and I run to hubby for a photo! (ha) :cursing:   This week I worked out four days instead of five because of my gig, but I feel like I need to workout one more day so I am going to get on the treadmill tonight.   The chat room has been down for two days now and I feel lost without my friends. I love this site!   I go for my 2nd fill this Tuesday. I hope I get some restriction!:tongue_smilie:I still get a little hungry between meals but I just ignore it. I'm making progress so it's a small price to pay. I just drink water to help combat it.   I currently have 2.5cc in my 10cc band. Hope they give me an additional 2.5cc this week.

Unbanded June 20, 2012

On June 20th, 2012, I was unbanded in am emergency procedure. My band had eroded and I had an infection. The erosion caused a hole in my stomach that had to be repaired as well. I am now home and dealing with the physical healing as well as some emotional issues that really frighten me.   http://youtu.be/GEGJ2geOW_g   Lapbandlala@gmail.com www.facebook.com/LapbandLaLa http://lapbandlala.wordpress.com/

Unbanded Progress June 26, 2012

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ppPP63ulCY&feature=plcp     On June 20th I was unbanded. Leaving me with a checklist of emotional setbacks. I am working through them. At this point in my journey I have no idea what path I am going to take but I hope to share my decisions with you. I was banded May 2009. Lost all my weight in eight months, a POSTER CHILD for the lapband and then after two years it started to go downhill. I hope my story blesses you in some way and helps you on your WLS path.   LapbandLaLa@gmail.com www.facebook.com/LapbandLaLa http://lapbandlala.wordpress.com/

Week 44.....New Life

(March 13, 2010) It's been a couple of weeks since my last post but I have been one very busy woman!   Since my last post I turned 40 on Feb. 23rd! I danced the night away with about 10 of my good girlfriends. We took a free Salsa class and then danced, danced, danced. It felt so good. I wore a gold, mini-dress and some high heels and carried a wand! Oh yes....I acted like the Goddess that I am and I was very proud of myself. I felt it was like my first birthday all over again. There was no shame in the way I felt. I looked good and I knew it. Vain....yes but hey, you only turn 40 once. I celebrated the whole week and enjoyed life to the fullest.   I have also has some difficult experiences with Lilith (my band) in the last few weeks. I experienced first-hand how anger and stress can make your band tighen with a vengence. I don't get angry much but I was upset with a lender who was not giving my client the attention she needed. This lender started to yell at me and I was NOT going to take that so I made sure I put them back in their place. Well, by the end of that episode, I was shaking, my head was pounding and Lilith (my band) was in an uproar! For the next few days I tried to stay calm but I could not get water down and I had acid reflux to levels I have never EVER had before! So off to the doctor I went. I had a full 1cc taken out. That took me to 4.0cc's. Well, I still was throwing up and experiencing bad reflux so just a few days ago I went back in and let them take out another .5cc's. SO that put me at 3.5cc's right now. I can't say it was bad either. Finally that fire in my belly calmed down and Lilith loosened her grip. But during that time I lost an additional 10lbs. I was already at goal but now I am in the 155 weight range. I don't think it looks bad on me, hubby says I still look great so maybe I will stay between 155-165 and feel ok. I am not really going for the emaciated look so I am trying to be careful! I don't know.....but I do know I don't really want to lose it like that again! Can you say.....ANGER MANAGEMENT???:wink2:   My size 12 jeans are too loose now, I was getting away with wearing them without looking too baggy but not now. Hi-Ho Hi-Ho it's off to shop I go.....(giggle)   Since I have reached goal, I have been trying to focus on the positive changes in my life. Things you take for granted but notice when you now blend into the "normal" world.       Things like.... Using a regular sized towel to wrap around you while you are getting ready in the morning.
People looking you in the eye when they talk to you.
Men whistling at you.
The way you feel in your clothes.
Getting a good nights rest because your body does not always have body parts falling asleep to deadness.
Liking the image that looks back at you in the mirror.
Shopping in the regular sized stores.
Feeling sexy for no reason
Knowing you can fit into a airplane seat (I have a trip coming up, more later)
Accepting compliments without shame.
Feeling good in room full of women! Women can be so catty sometimes, but I can hold my own now! I no longer hide in the shadows!
I could go on and on. This life of mine....of yes....this life of mine if finally happy and content.   There are a few other things I am watching close. My periods are all out of whack. I had two, just two weeks apart! Gotta see if I can get more vitamins in.   I am also just no longer intrested in food. Yes, I know that's weird. Sometimes I think I have cravings but when I get a bite it just does not taste the same or feel the same. Do you know what I am talking about? Sometimes eating was just totally emotional, it tasted good because it was a release. At this point of my progress I can really and truly say....I can take food or leave it.   Well friends.....I am off to Italy! I will be gone until April 1st. A full 17 days to relax, unwind, enjoy my husband and see the world. It's my first time overseas! And....I will fit into the airplane seats! (HA):tt2:   Thanks for all the wonderful comments on my photos! I truly felt beautiful for the first time in my life and now I have those photos to help me remember that feeling!   I will tell you all about my wonderful adventures when I return! Love you all BUNCHES!   And as always.....I AM BLESSED!     Why not go out on a limb? Isn't that where the fruit is?:tongue2:   Surgery Date: May 21, 2009 Starting Weight: 280lbs Dr. Michael Metz - St. Luke's Hospital Denver, CO:thumbup: Follow my progress thru photos: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/members/5...lbums3475

Week 18...Alien In My Body...

It's week 18 post-op! Still feeling quite the fine lady!   It's starting to get cold here in Denver and so I picked up a couple of sweaters. It's the first time I have worn a sweater and not felt like a "pig in a blanket".   I had a rough night last night. Did not sleep much at all. I ate a hard boiled egg for breakfast that morning and it all went crazy downhill after that. It did not get stuck or cause me slime, but everything else the rest of the day just felt like it was sitting like a rock in my stomach. And the burping...EWWHHH:scared2:   So last night I tossed and turned and turned and tossed but slept mostly sitting up which is not fun!   This morning I still felt a little off so I skipped breakfast and had soup for lunch. After that I felt fine.   But, here is what cracks me up about myself now. My body makes the weirdest noises through my throat. I can just be sitting there and all of a sudden an alien starts to growl. It's the most weirdest sound. When I go to bed at night it's really noticeable. Double Double Boil and trouble! Anybody else get this?   It's not something I can't deal with but it sometimes happens when I really don't need it to, like a quiet meeting or a romantic moment with hubby! :crying:   I have not weighed yet. I think I am going to wait until Oct. 3rd. After all that body weirdness I think I just want to wait.   My jeans are starting to feel loose again. I am wearing some 16's now. And might I digress a bit....why don't the clothing makers make a standard size? I have Levi's in 18, Just My Size in 16, Cato's in 14 and Lane Bryant across the board with that new single size and color method! Really people..I am not a twister board..Get it together!   I am looking forward to my Hawaii trip in between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Can't wait for my family who has not seen me to see me. It will be a great "Ta-Da" moment!   I am still exercising, still belly dancing, water aerobicing (is that a word?) and doing weights. I am getting stronger each week.   So there you have it family....my weekly progress!
