Just started and getting banded on Friday!

I'm new to the site and will be getting my Lapband on Friday August 14. I am 17 years old and live in Rochester, MN. I am 275 lbs and 5'9''. I have arthritis and sleep apnea. I am extremely excited to start this journey but a little nervous at the same time.

Don't be nervous, sweetie! It will be great. I was nervous, too. This will be a life changing thing so much for the better for you! I was banded Jan. 9th. I have lost 104# so far! It has been so good so far. I have had slips here and there, but all in all it is incredible. Take time to heal and get better and you will be on your way to a new you!!! Good luck and may God bless your surgery.- Tonya

Come on in and welcome to the site. You will find really nice people here that is willing to help you. They have been extemely nice and informative. I am being banded this morning (Aug. 12, 09) @10:30. I am very neverous as well. But I know this is the right decision for me. If you have any questions just put the question out there and you will see how everyone here is willing to answer you question. This is truly a great forum. Good luck and much success.

I can understand being nervous, this is something new. I think everyone who undergoes this is nervous. Mainly because this is something that is life changing. I remember my surgery, leading up to the date I was becoming more and more nervous/anxious. You will do just fine and you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Like Tonya said, there will probably be slip ups, but remember the band is there as a tool to help you along in your journey. Looking forward to hearing about your journey. Good luck!

Good for you, I am just down the road from you a little North of Winona :-) How did you get in so fast??

Congrats and the best of luck tomorrow!!!!! Keep us updated on the road to the "new" you!! :)

Thanks for all the support. I don't think it could have gone much better. I was admitted 5:45 am and got out at 1:45 pm. I didn't have to much pain or any nauseau. Now comes the hard part, for the next month with no solids. Again, thanks for the support.

Congratulations on getting banded!!!! I'm glad to hear that everything went well and you're off on the road to recovery.
