Recommended Posts

Just wondering,

From my understanding, I will be on NO Solids for 28 days...

(Clear liquids week 1)

Do many people see loss during this time? or do you expect to see more loss after the first fill?

I am assuming, i will lost Water weight..

Just curious was people's experiences were the first month?

You should see loss during this time, but also expect to gain a little once you move to mushies. You're putting something with more substance into your body at the mushy stage. Your real weight loss won't really start happening until you get filled. However, each person is different

I had loss with liquids, most people do. Then I stalled until my first fill - that's Bandster Hell and most people stall or gain a couple of pounds back. Thankfully I got good restriction with my first fill, which I got 7 weeks after being banded.

This weight gain is normal. But different for everyone.

Week one weight loss was 8lbs

week two- 4lbs

week 3- 2lbs gained 9 this is where I decided to go on the 5 day pouch test until out of bandster hell.)

week 4- 2 lbs re lost plus 2 pounds

week 5- 2 pounds lost- First fill at the end of this week still little restriction so I will continue on the 5 day Pouch test on monday.

16 pounds lost total in 5 weeks.

every body is different but this is what I have experienced.

I have lost 14.6 pounds since the day of surgery (June 2), however, 10 of that was lost in the first week while it was liquids only. I was able to move to mushies in week 2. I get my first fill next week, so hopefully the pounds will start dropping again at that point.

I lost almost 14 lbs right away but then I started eating and gained back 6. I am almost back down to the full 14 and hoping to get a little under that before my first fill.

I lost 18lbs pre-op (2 wk slim fast), and have lost another 15lbs post-op. Also have gone down about 1 size. I only had a full liquid diet the first 48 hrs post-op. On day three I was allowed to start on cream of wheat, and cottage cheese. By day 6 I was able to add eggs, lunch meat, and also start adding different soft foods like boiled chicken breast and green Beans. My surgeon told me I might start to gain weight because of adding foods to my diet, but if my scale is accurate I am actually still loosing. I follow the diet very carefully, and I walk every night just about.

I was banded about 3 weeks ago. I lost 10 pounds the first week after surgery on the liquid diet. Since then, I haven't lost any weight. I am eating less but am still capable of eathing a normal meal. I know it sounds strange but I'm almost concerned about the lack of side effects. I read so much about people vomiting, not being able to eat certain foods, having to crush medications, getting the stuck feeling, having to chew thoroughly, etc. I haven't had any issues and like I said, I can eat normal, not huge meals and tolerate almost any kind of food. But no weight loss. After reading these post, I'm guessing that will happen after the first fill. Any thoughts?

you should definitely see loss in this time. my doctor required a two week pre op liquid diet and then the first day i was on Clear Liquids and then full liquids for a week and now i started mushies. I have lost 20lbs already so the liquids definitely jump starts the process. good luck!

I had my surgery two weeks ago, on June 11. I was on liquids for one week, adn lost 11 pounds. After that forst week, the nutritionist put me on mushy food, and I have onky lost 2 pounds since then, but I have tried some solid food (soft fish) and dfinitely feel the restriction when I eat that. My first fill will be on July 30 and I am on soft and mushy foods til then, but my doctor said that after the first fill, my weight loss will accelerate, if I eat the right foods, of course.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
