  1. Dont Worry about it, they use the weight that you started with when you came in for your first visit. If your still worried just say you are a inch smaller than you really are they dont check.
  2. I was banded on june 11th, I lost 30 lbs from May 18th till my surgery on June 11th and as of today I am down a total of 40 lbs (I know it dosent show on my ticker, I cant figure out how to update it LOL). It is very weird I barely eat at all, sometimes I dont even get in three meals a day. I have a optifast shake for breakfeast everyday along with my vitamin and nexium. For lunch I have either soup (can only have about 1/4 of a can) or tunafish with a few crackers, or chilli, or yogurt. For Dinner its pretty much the same as lunch. Some days I dont even have lunch. After dinner I sometimes have a sugar free pudding or ice pop and decaf coffee every night. I am going to start to work out next week (light) just giving my incision one more week to heal a little bit more before I start to excersise a little bit. My first fill is not until August 8th.
  3. WOW I thought I was the only Moron sleeping on the couch sitting up position, what a horrible night sleep it is
  4. I was banded June 11th as well and i know exactly what you mean I was in so much pain that first night and I too saod to myself what the hell did I do to myself. I am really glad that i had to stay in the hospital overnight i Dont know why every DR dosent require this. I was in alot of pain but at the same time I refused all pain medications but I woke up the next day and felt alot better. Tonight I s;ept from 11 PM - 4am and am feeling a little uncomfortable right now.
  5. I was banded june 11th as well, I am the opposite of all of you people I didnt think the pain was going to be that bad. I am really glad I had to stay in the hospital overnight I woke up this morning feeling a 100% better, still very sore but not too too bad. Last night i was secong guessing why I got the band. But today I was happy as a kid in a candy store with my decision to change my life and become a healthier me .:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::biggrin::thumbup::tt2::thumbup::tt2::thumbup::tt2::thumbup::tt2::thumbup::tt2::thumbup::tt2:
  6. Had my surgery yesterday June 11th in Long Island New York, I gotta be honest I almost chickened out but I Didnt. I just got home frm the hospital today and I just feel a little sore not to bad at all. The first day was a little uncomfortable I am glad I was in the hospital and not at home. I woke up this morning feeling a 100 times better though. Good lck to everyone that is getting it done soon believe me its not that bad at all before you know it its over. Just remember that you feel alot better the second day good luck everyone.
  7. What Hospital did you get the surgery in. I am from New York And want to make sure I dont get that asshole.
  8. I know exactly how you feel belive me I do. I am going in for surgery on June 11th and Like you I had gained weight from when I first went in to see the dr (march) till my visit where they go over all your pre op test (May 13th , my birthday) I gained 9 pounds and I felt like such an idiot. You would of thought that from the time I knew I wanted the surgery till the surgery I woul dhave started watching my weight , no not me I ate more than ever i couldnt control myself. My wife even said to me one night that I shouldnt get the surgery because she said if you cant control yourself now how are you going to do it after the surgery and I didnt have a answer for her. Than My mom who was very supportive of the whole surgery thing said to me one day I see you are eating alot do you think this surgery is rerally for you maybe you should cancel the surgery. To make a long story short my doctor put me on the pre op diet on May 17th and I wasent aware of this till may 14th, I was shocked I only though the pre op diet was suppose to be 2 weeks. Anyway Since i started the pre op diet Ihave lost 20 lbs and yes it was hard the first 4-5 days but after that you dont even feel hugry anymore. So my point is dont worry about gaining a little weight and starting to diet before hand when the times comes to do it you will do it if you want it that bad. I did. If you would have asked me 3 months ago if i could do a diiet like that i would have said no way but the fact of the matter is I want this really bad and I will do whatever it takes to achive this and I know you will too so dont be so hard on yourself and good luck with the surgery and teh pre op diet believ me its not that bad the first 4 days suck and than its really easy
  9. HEy I am the 11th of June as well I have been on the pre op diet since May 18th which consist of A optifast shake for breakfeast, another for lunch, a protein bar mid day and for dinner 5-7 oz of chiekcen, fish or turkey, salad with no fat dressing and green vegetables. Starting today I am on all optifast for breakfeast lunch and dinner. I have lost 20 lbs since I started this pre op diet. It was really hard the first 5 days but now it isnt bad at all i am rearely hungry actually. It just sucked memorial day weekend when evryone was eating steak, sausage and hamburgers and hotdogs and i was sucking down a optifast while evryone lese was throwinf down beers. I cant wait to justget thing surgery done already
  10. I know exactly how you feel. A couple of weeks ago I too was worried about the same thing, my wife even asked how I was going to be succesful at this band surgery If i couldnt stop eating bad beofre the surgery and I too wondered as well. i went to the dr last week for a visit and the started me on my pre op diet on Monday, I am having surgery June 11th so my pre op diet is a little more than three weeks and I thought it was going to be hell and I know it has only been three days since i started but I have done really well so far and evryone on here says its the first three - fou days that are the hardest So hopefully I will be fine. I was like you why should I start eating good before I had to i cant explain it but somthing just clicks when all of a sudden they tell you to go on the pre op diet and I believe the same wil happen for you as well
  11. I had to go for 2 sleep studies one was to find out if I had it and the other was to test me with a CPAP machne for them to figure out what kind of machine I need. The sleep studies were honestly the worst experience I have ever had , they hook you up to so much stuff and its really uncomfortable. I have had my CPAP machine for over a month and cannot keep the thing on me all night I take it off while I am sleeping. I just recieved a new mask in the mail today hopefully this one will stay on all night for me. I cant wait to lose enough weight where I wont have to be on this machine any longer it really is a nightmare I HATE IT I feel like a freak wearing this thing. The only reason I even got tested was because i had to in order to get the surgery for lap band I pray that this band work or rather I work with the band and get my weight inder control so I dodnt have to be on the machine anymore
  12. I believe you can get results and not have to work out all day however you wont see reults like they have without working out all day, very unrealistic but if they didnt do that and only lost a little weight no one wuld watch
  13. I have watched every episode of this season and let me tell you it is amazing but the fact is they are working out like crazy and no one can do that in the real world in fact one of the seasons winner a couple of years ago from long island new york eric lost so much weight and he gained more than half of it back. I feel that the band will keep the weight off for good , well atleast I hope So I am not banded yet .
  14. I am scheduled for June 11th 2009
  15. Hello All I am tentatively scheduled for surgery on June 11th. I have all my testing done so far and called the Dr office yesterday and they have recieved all my Tests. I have to go in MAy 13th My birthday of all days to go over all the test with them. My question is this do alot of people wait until theey tell you to go on the pre-op diet before they start it or do most peopel start to watch what they eat at the transition stage where I am now. I went for my first Appointment at the end on February and I know I have put some weight on since than (scared to know how much weight exactly). I know that this is somthing that I have to do and I definetly know that this is a life change and that i have to use the band as a tool and I am going to have to struggle to make the right food chices daily and it is going to be hard. I guess I am at this point just getting my last licks so to speak in before my surgery. But I would love to hear from people for advise should I be starting to diet so to speak now before they put me on a pre op diet
  16. Hey I am the smae height as you and when i was 25 years of age I weighed about the same maybe a little less and I am now 32 years old and weight 310. And like you I was always able to shed 50 lbs really quick only to put it back on. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and high blood pressure last year and like many people on here i have to sleep with a cpap machine at night and am on high blodd pressure medication. I am in the process of getting the band I have a surgery date of June 11th actually, i just wish that I would have done this sooner. So my advise to you is that if you can have it done and know that you cant do it alone with just diet because you put the weight back on go for the lapband. When i was 25 and someone would have tols me to get the lapband I woulsd have laughed at them and said thats not for me but they would be the ones laughing at me because 7 years later I am getting the surgery done. Good luck
  17. All i have to say about tattoos are that dont worry about what evryone else thinks about what you are going to get. It going to be on you for the rest of your life and if its what YOU want than thats all that matters. I have a tat of a celtic cross on my calf (side of my calf) some people love it and some people say your going to regret that someday. And the truth is I dodnt regret it because I though long and hard about getting a tatoo and i waited until I found somthing that I knew I wanted and meant somthing to me . So Glam if you know that is what you want than F it go for it girl
  18. Also I love the name Jimbo Slice is that after Kimbo Slice. I am a huge MMA fan
  19. Hey whats going on welcome to the site. I am new to this site as well I have just began my journey to getting my lapband. I have went to a seminar, had my first consultation, did my psych evaluation, did my sleep study and I have my cardiologist appointment, bloodwork and x rays schedulaed for monday (yes all those test in one day cant believe that it worked out like that but atleast thats only one day I have to take off work). definelty go to a seminar just to see what all the weight loss surgeries have to offer and this site is also a great tool to get answers to anything you can think of, great bunch of people on here. For me it seems that the lapband surgery os definetly for me I cant wait to have it done, also get your family on board and educate them as well because you are going to need a support system. Like I said I am new to this journey as well but if you have any questions I will be more than happy to answer them for you if I can. welcome aboard and I hope that this site has alot of answers to your questions I know it did for me
  20. I have one naturally thin friend who insists that it's all about will power - he has been trying to quit smoking for 10 years but still doesn't get it. I have a friend who says the same thing to me about my weight he says you juts have to stop being lazy and do it meanwhile he cant stop smoking hes tried fro about 5 years or longer I use to smoke with him and I quit cold turkey and that was 4 years ago and have no desire for a smoke. SO i could be a real dick and tell him that he is just being lazy with quitting smoking but I know what its like so I would never do that. Its ocviously not a matter of will power all the time becuase I quit smoking but cant stop my weight problem on my own
  21. WOW this is exactly why I chose not to tell anyone about getting the lapband besides my immediate family. They are all on board with what I am doing the only one that seems to say negative stuff is my sister but the fact of the matter is she is a alcoholic and wont admit it. I think that she is just jealous because I am doing somthing about my problem but she still wont admit her problem openly. My wife always says to me why are you keeping it a secret why dodnt you justtell people you are having it done and the reason is because of people like snxgetfits aunt, Serentity55 so called friend and people in edub's life that are pissing him off. I was almost going to tell some of my other friends and family but I am so glad that I didnt specially after reading this post people are just dicks and until they walk in my shoes they will never understand. I just admitted to myself that i have a problem about 2 months ago i trul belive that obesity is a disease just like some that has a drug problem or some one that has a drinking problem or anything else done in excess. it is a disease and I am doing somthing that will help me along (LapBand) it isnt a sighn of weaknes but rather a sign of strentgth that you are admitting you have a problem and are also admitting that somthing has to be done and are getting the required help neccessarry to accoplish your goal of becoming healthty and as all of us know that have already been banded or on there way to be banded it is not a esy task and there are some good days and bad days. But Like i said beofre until you have this problem you dont know what its like just like I dont know how people can shoot heroin or smoke crack or how alcoholics cant just have one or two beers. well I think evryone gets the point.
  22. Wow way to go thats so funny cause I have nintendo WII i got it a couple of days ago and I laugh evrytime I get weighed when it says obese I cant wait for it to say overweight as well! I just started my journey and I am 305 so it is going to be a little while for me for that but its funny that i want the same goal as you
  23. Wow I am so glad I found these post. My wife cant understand why I dont want to tell anyone about getting the lapband. I am still in the beginning stages of getting it done but I have made up my mind that this surgery is definetly for me its actually all I have been thinking about since I made up my mind 2 weeks ago after going to a seminar. The only people I have told are My wife, Mom, Dad, Suster and Brother and they are behind me 100% ohh And my Mother in Law and Father in Law. That is all I need to know right now, who knows maybe after a while I will tell people. I dont need to tell my boss as I own my own business but its funny most people make up excuses for there boss I am going to have to make an excuse to tell my workers as I am going to have to be out of work for atleast a week. I agree with alot of you that people think its just the easy way out like after you come out of surgery you are at your goal weight it is going to be alot of hard work and as everyone that is succesful will tell you its just a TOOL to help you its not a magic wand. I am also nervouse to tell people about it because what if I fail at weight loss with the lapband than you have to explain to everyone what went wrong and blah blah blah. I am so glad alot fo you are like me and want to keep it under wraps, it is a hard thing tot do because I am so excited to get it done so I can finally get my life back and I cant share it because I dont want anynegativity about it
